Arsenal Pre-season summary

One of the strongest pre-season performers, Arsenal have scored 27 goals in seven games with Jesus and Nketiah in fine goal-scoring form.

Aston Villa Pre-season friendlies summary

Opponents played: Walsall, Leeds, Brisbane Roar, Man United, Rennes

A very good pre-season for Villa there weren’t many goals but the team is looking good for their first full season under Gerrard. Bailey(5.0) and Archer(4.5) the best performers from Villa in pre-season, a quiet one for Coutinho who missed a penalty vs Leeds. Defence looks even solid with the addition of Carlos.

Bournemouth Pre-Season Summary

Goals conceded- 6

Opponents played: Sheffield Wednesday, Braga, Bristol City, and Real Sociedad

A quiet pre-season for Bournemouth who were not able to add any quality new signings in the window. Solanke looked good in front of the goal and should have added more goals. But defeats against teams like Braga and Bristol City doesn’t promise a good start for them.

Crystal Palace pre-season summary

Goals conceded- 17

Opponents played: Accrington Stanley, Millwall, Liverpool, Ipswich, Man United, Gillingham, Leeds, QPR, Montpellier.

Palace have had a very different pre-season with the first-team squad split into two which means they have played 9 games already. The attackers found great rhythm with Zaha being the pick with 4 goals and 4 assists in the 5 games he played in pre-season.

Everton Pre-Season Summary

Opponents played: Arsenal, Minnesota United, Blackpool and Dynamo Keiv

Everton had a poor trip to the US losing both the games to Arsenal and Minnesota without scoring a goal. Lampard played a 3-man defence and got convincing wins against Blackpool and Dynamo Kyiv upon return from the US. In FPL terms, 4.0 defender Patterson was the biggest highlight starting 4/4 games and also managing 2 assists in the process.

Leeds Pre-Season summary:

Opponents played: Blackpool, Brisbane Roar, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Cagliari

New signings got their much-needed pre-season games which should make them match fit. Leeds looked defensively a much-improved side although their LB worries and defending counterattack woes continue. Rodrigo got 5 goals from 5 games including a hattrick in the last game. Bamford looked sharp with 2 goals and an assist vs Cagliari, 5.5 Million mid, Aaranson got three assists against Cagliari.

Opponents played: Man United, Crystal Palace, RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg, Man City(Community Shield) and RC Strasbourg(Mostly academy players played)

Liverpool had a good pre-season run with new signing Nunez scoring 5 goals and getting an assist. 4 of these goals came in one game against Leipzig. Both the losses against Manchester United and Salzburg came when Liverpool fielded a second-string side. They put in an impressive performance against Manchester City to win the FA Community Shield 3-1.

Nottingham Forest has signed a set of new players including Jesse Lingard who made his debut in the final preseason game against Valencia. Their pre-season season was a mixed bag and it would require more time for their new singings to settle down. So, you can avoid them at the start of the season except for Williams who looks to be a nailed 4.0 defender.

Summary of Leicester Pre-Season:

Goals conceded- 7

Opponents played: Notts County, OH Leuven, Hull City, Derby, Preston, and Sevilla

Leicester attackers had a great run during the season and looked to be in good touch. Barnes looked sharp and got 3 goals. 5.5 Midfielder Dewsbury Hall had a great run with 1 goal, 3 assists and looks to be one of the best players in that range. Maddison started from where he left off with 1 goal, 2 assists and looked in amazing touch which stakes his claim in FPL teams as a 8.0 midfielder.

Man City Pre-Season Summary

Opponents played: Club America, Bayern Munich, Man City

City played just 3 games during the pre-season and Kevin De Bruyne was the best player with 2 goals. Grealish and Mahrez look to be the first choice wingers at the moment starting all the 3 games. Haaland missed the first game vs Club America due to an injury, but returned to score in the 1-0 win vs Bayern. His fortunes took a bad turn when he played 90 minutes and missed an open net chance in the Community Shield loss vs Liverpool. Foden missed the first 2 games due to travel restrictions.

Overall a great pre-season for Man United with Sancho, Martial, and Rashford front three enjoying a great pre-season. New signings Martinez and Eriksen looked comfortable in the last two friendlies. Malacia was electric when he played and the competition for the LB spot should be intense. Dalot impressive at RB as well.

Newcastle pre-season summary

2022/23 Newcastle United Pre-Season Summary

Newcastle looked like a settled team after an intense pre-season with fixtures against quality opponents. The likes of Tripper, Almiron, ASM, Wilson, Joelinton and Bruno Guimares have all been involved in the goals. New CB signing Botman has settled in nicely as well.

Goals were the main problem for Southampton in pre-season but their defence looked solid. The addition of young talent Mara should address the shortage of goals. New signings Bazunu and Aribo has settled in nicely with Aribo scoring a world-class goal against Villareal. Adam Armstrong top scorer with two goals.

Results: 3-1 defeat to RB Leipzig, 0-0 draws with Watford and Klagenfurt. 3-1 win to Monaco, 2-1 loss to Villareal

Chelsea Pre-Season Summary

Not a great pre-season for Chelsea with Tuchel not happy with the squad with a lot of player wanting out. The game against Arsenal saw Chelsea try 4 at the back, which did not go well and Chelsea reverted back to 3 at the back during the game. Chelsea although did look good against Udinese in the last friendly with Sterling & Mount amongst the goals. Chilwell is still being played cautiously in pre-season and there could be rotations. James looks fit and firing for the season ahead.

Kane and Son once again were deadly for Spurs in pre-season with the duo having 6 G+A each. Perisic and Doherty both looked good in the final pre-season game against Roma with Conte praising the duo.

Brighton look sharp overall in the pre-season, Trossard, Undav, Enciso, Mitoma, and Maupay all amongst the goals but this means there will be rotation with Potter now having a lot of options in attack. Trossard the most impressive scoring a hattrick and bagging an assist in a 5-1 win over Espanyol in the last friendly. Dunk got a goal as well from a header.

Fulham have made a couple of good signings to their championship-winning squad from last season and look like they are better prepared for a PL season this time around. Mitrovic once again amongst the goals, scoring 4/7 Fulham goals in pre-season. New signing Pereira(4.5 Million Midfielder) has got two assists and is on corners along with Harry Wilson.

West Ham have not had a great pre-season struggling to score goals. New signing Agured got injured in one of the games and is now set to be out for a while. West Ham have however signed an exciting striker, Gianluca Scamacca and he should help West Ham address the lack of goals. Please keep in mind, he was a late signing ad didn’t not feature in any pre-season games for West Ham.

Wolves Pre-Season summary:

Wolves needed to have a good pre-season after ending the last season badly and they did have a great one with the likes of Podence, Neto, Jonny, and Ait Nouri all impressive. Their Pre-season did have a small negative with Jimenez getting injured in one of the friendlies, but Hwang Hee-Chan has now returned from his injury layover and played as a substitute in the pre-season game against Sporting, so Wolves have backup options and are also looking for a new striker. He also started the final pre-season against Farnese scoring the penalty.

Wolves are playing 4 at the back formation and will look to continue in the same formation going into the season.
