Welcome to the new season and here we are back with the Scout picks for GW1. The interest in this week’s scout picks is huge considering it’s the first gameweek of the season and we have a full squad to pick. Shoutout to our Scout FPLDaggaFC(Don’t forget to follow him on Twitter here) who did a remarkable job with Scout Picks last season. Without further ado, let’s look at the Scout Picks for FPL GW1.

Goalkeeper and Defense

FPL GW1 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

Mendy heads the big at the back draft who was a surprise coming in at just 5.0 million. Nailed started for a Top 3 side who had the 3rd best Expected Goals(xGC) and Expected Clean Sheets(xGC) last season.

FPL GW1 Scout Picks- Defenders

Trent Alexander Arnold(7.5) and Robertson(7.0)

FPL GW1 Scout Picks - Trent and Robertson

Alexander Arnold is a must own considering the staggering record he has over the years with two 200+ points seasons in the last 3 years. He was top among defenders for Assists(12), Big chances created(18) and FPL points(208) last season.

Robertson completes the Liverpool Double up in defense who is still surprisingly a differential at 11.8% TSB. In his last 20 league games for Liverpool, he notched up 3 goals, 9 assists, and 13 clean sheets which equates to more than one return per game. Zinchenko(5.0)– Tierney’s injury and Arsenal’s kind opening fixtures(till GW8) means Zinchenko as a valuable FPL asset. He can also become an Out of position player in FPL taking up a midfield slot in the future.

Perisic(5.5)- Perisic got 7 goals, and 8 assists in his last season at Inter playing as Left Wing back. Conte and his love for attacking fullbacks are a match made in heaven which makes him a great FPL option right away.

Trippier(5.0)- With Newcastle improved as a defensive unit and have good fixture to start the season with, Tripper is an exciting option. He will be on most set pieces as well.

FPL GW1 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Mo Salah(13.0) picks himself in the team and is the top captain option considering his record in the opening fixture of the season and the opponent he is up against. Salah was top for goals(23), xG(24.0) and FPL points(265) last season.

Mason Mount(8.0) got 11 goals, 11 assists- 22 goal contributions from just 32 games last season. He was the focal point in pre-season games and should be the main player in Chelsea attack. You can check out this article where a strong case for Mason Mount is made- FPL Player In Focus: Mason Mount

Martinelli(6.0) completes the midfield who had a 0.47 nPxG+xA last season which was even better than Saka. You can read more about Martinelli where he features for Arsenal in the “One Underpriced FPL Asset At Each ‘Big Six’ Club“.

FPL GW1 Scout Picks- Forwards

Harry Kane(11.5) who has a very good record against Southampton historically just edges out Haaland for the Premium forward slot. He is in very good form during the pre-season and is priced at 0.5 less than Son which makes him more appealing.

Jesus(8.0) completes the line-up after being already owned by 73.2% of managers in FPL at the moment. This is largely due to the amazing pre-season form he is in where he got 7 goals, 1 assist from 5 pre-season games.
