Best Brentford FPL Players | Brentford Preview

Brentford, the Premier League, second season, can’t wait for VAR and Oligarchs to wipe out all my hope and dreams… In the meantime, here is my thread on potential line-ups, play style, transfers, and FPL assets for the coming season.

Brentford Potential Formation and Line-up for 2022/23 Season

During the 21/22 campaign, 2 main formations were deployed. 532/352 Formation was used for the first 26 games through the 21/22 season and used relatively successfully, 10Wins, 6Draws, and 16Losses. After 8 games without a win, Frank changed to a 433, ending the season with 7Wins, 1Draw, and 4Losses. Going into the new season I think we will see a continuation of both formations, 433 being used in “easier” games and 352 being used against the more dominant teams.

New transfers, four new transfers in so far, and more rumors circulating so potentially we will see more movement,

Keane Lewis-Potter
Thomas Strakosha
Ben Mee

Brentford FPL assets

Goalkeeper ~ David Raya (£4.5m)

Raya has enjoyed another successful season as No.1 at Brentford since joining from Blackburn Rovers, last year was an injury-hit season for the Spaniard but played 24 games keeping 8 clean sheets facing 99 slots saving 75 with a 76.8% save percentage, the second highest in the league, 11^th most CS while only playing 2/3^rd of games

Thomas Strakosha (£4.5m)

Best Brentford FPL Players ~ Thomas Strakosha

Brentford’s new no. 2, and I say no. 2 on purpose, while Lazio’s no.1 keeper comes in, he does not guarantee himself a starting claim, to put people at ease I will be starting the season with David Raya, we will see how the season progresses but if Raya is replaced it will be later in the season.

Brentford Defenders

Best Brentford FPL Players ~ Pontus Jansson (£4.5m)

Brentford’s top scoring defender last year was Pontus Jansson (£4.5m) this year he’s a hard pass, Pontus is in his final year of his contract and while Ajer and Pinnock are currently injured, and he will start the season, we will see him in more of a deputizing role this year.

Best Brentford FPL Players ~ Rico Henry (£4.5m

Rico Henry (£4.5m) coming in with 3 goals last year, a lovely heatmap from last season and I think we will see his numbers improve this year not amazing underlying stats but I think a very good option.

Other Brentford Defensive options

Ben Mee (£4.5m) – will start the season but not sure on long term
Kristoffer Ajer (£4.5m) – Out for the start of the season but a good option once he is back.
Ethan Pinnock (£4.5m) – The man mountain himself again injured and will miss first few games
Aaron Hickey (£5.0m) – why oh why did they price this man at £5.0m at £4.5m this LB/RB would have been first choice in my team.

Brentford Midfielders

Some cheap standouts in midfield but my favorite Brentford FPL midfield options are Josh Dasilva, Yoane Wissa, and Keane Lewis-Potter.

Josh Dasilva (£4.5m) (21/22 – 0G, 0A)

Best Brentford FPL Players ~ Josh Dasilva

The man I tipped last year, but looks like we have had to wait 12 months for it to come to fruition, this is the £4.5m man everyone should be getting, his 20/21 season heatmap below shows how all over the park he is. He has great attacking threat, I believe that he is a risk of rotation at the start of the season but for me we will see him start games with no Eriksen.

Yoane Wissa (£5.5m) (21/22 – 7G, 1A)

While only making his claim late in the season after the change of formation, 7 goals from LW was great to see, I think we will see him start the season on the left and as seen in France he also has the ability to play through the middle. Great value and great attacking threat

Keane Lewis-Potter (£5.5m) (21/22 – 12G, 3A Championship)

Best Brentford FPL Players ~ Keane Lewis-Potter

Brentford’s new record signing, plays of the Left similar to Wissa, I do not think we will see him start the season but will be eased in, he also have the ability to play through the middle in an Eriksen-esqe style, we haven’t seen much of him yet so will be interesting to see. Came on for Wissa in both pre-season matches so far, so feel he will be utilised on the left-hand side.

Brentford Strikers

Ivan Toney (£7.0) (21/22 – 12G, 5A)

I think there is value here, he had a great season last year, finishing on the same amount of goals as Bowen and Maddison I think the change to 433 was a massive help to his goalscoring with 6G & 3A coming in the last 11 games, I think we will see an improved goal scoring return this year.

He is also I think the best penalty taker I have ever seen, he hasn’t missed a penalty since Oct-2018.

Bryan Mbeumo (£6.0m) (21/22 – 4G, 7A)

Hidden value right here, no one has been talking about him due to his change to a FWD, although its maybe a wait and see, Mbeumo playing off the right definitely suits his play style, when playing on the right in previous season 20/21 – 8G/10A and 19/20 – 15G/7A could be really interesting to see what happens 4 goals with 9.7xG last year… 9.7!

Who am I having?

As a Brentford fan, I’m taking 3 Brentford FPL players, of course, Raya and Dasilva are already in, then a throw-up between Wissa, Henry, Mbeumo, and Toney at the moment, Henry is sitting there at the moment but all could be good options.

Brentford Fixtures

Some great fixtures GW3-15 is a great run while also GW20-32 isn’t a bad spell, make sure you are ready to sell in GW33 what a disgusting final few GWs
