Leicester City FPL Preview

Transfer Activity:

Following a draught in both 2022 transfer windows, Leicester fans haven’t had much to shout over other than the extension of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s large contract extension. It is hopeful that some departures will make some funds available to make some signings and with 5 weeks to go, there is plenty of time to change the dynamic.

Leicester fixtures (CAPS home/Small away)

A lovely set of opening fixtures for the foxes and some early points could be up for grabs.

We start the season at Home to Brentford and at present, it looks like it will be a similar starting 11 to what we saw last season albeit, we will have the likes of Fofana, Castagne, Evans & Justin [all 4.5m] returning to start the season after they all missed the beginning of the 2021/22 season through injury.

Leicester City Tactics

With more pace available at the back with returning players, we can be hopeful to see more of a pressing Leicester style, one that we saw when Rodgers first took over as manager. A stronger defence will allow players to push forward whilst the strength in Ndidi [5.0m] allowing the midfield to push on. His role will allow the likes of Dewsbury-Hall [5.0m] push on up the field adopting that box-to-box role that the 23-year-old makes look so easy following his breakout season last year.

We can expect to see the forwards thrive in this Leicester team and with the 5-sub rule, we can expect to see more styles of play on show utilizing the likes of Daka [6.0m] & Iheanacho [6.5m] to provide backup to Vardy [9.5m].

For FPL purposes, I would encourage to avoid Leicester defenders until they have demonstrated that they are stronger at the back, especially on set pieces where we were so poor last season conceding 21 in total.

Jamie Vardy [9.5 million]

Vardy Leicester city FPL assets to consider — Jamie Vardy

If you’re targeting 1 Leicester player, you can bank Vardy will get you 100+ throughout the season. You could dispute his minutes might be limited but as the Foxes main man, he’s a safe bet that he will return the points on the front line.

Maddison [8.0 Million]

Maddison Leicester city FPL assets to consider

Madders was firing towards the end of last season and with a full pre season under his belt, trust me when I say he will be out to make Gareth select him for Qatar this winter. He loves his football and he loves his country, no one will try harder than this fella this season.

By the looks of it Maddison is set to continue his fine run of form after scoring a goal and grabbing an assist in just 45 mins against Hull City.

Dewsbury-Hall [5.0 million]

Dewsbury-Hall Leicester city FPL assets to consider

Although perceived as a DM, he is very much box-to-box and will be involved in a lot of Leicester play when he goes forward. KDH will play the majority of games this season and as a cheap option, he will guarantee minutes on the pitch.

KDH also picked up an assist in their last friendly against Hull in a 4-0 Leicester win.
