- Palace

FPL GW14 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

Palace are one of our teams to target this week and as they are facing Burnley, the team with the second lowest xG in the league, it makes sense to go big on their defense. Burnley have scored 3 goals in their last 4 games (2 against West Ham and 1 against Brentford), failing to score in two of their last four against Chelsea and Burnley. Palace on the other hand have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 4 games, only conceding against United in FPL GW13.
A double up on Palace defenders could be a good shout, but with good ‘keeper picks in short supply this week we’re going for Henderson to fill our GK spot for the FPL GW13 Scout Picks team!

FPL GW14 Scout Picks – Defenders

Gvardiol, Timber and Munoz make up our back three for FPL GW14…
As mentioned above, a Palace double up in defense seems like the sensible option for FPL GW14. Sarr’s injury means that Palace’s attack will be weaker than normal, so a defensive double up makes sense. Munoz is one of the first names on the team sheet this week considering Palace’s defensive record in recent weeks, Munoz’ attacking output and Burnley’s poor attacking numbers and awful form.
Timber makes the team for the umpteenth week in a row as Arsenal face Brentford at home in FPL GW14. Arsenal’s defense is currently ravaged by injuries as both Saliba and Gabriel face spells on the sideline, so a double up is unnecessary. Arsenal still looked defensively solid against 10 man Chelsea in FPL GW13, conceding just 4 shots on target, 1 big chance and 0.79xG. The Gunners’ defensive record remains astonishing and Timber offers a bit of attacking thrust, so the dutchman makes the team for FPL GW14.

Completing the defense is City centre-back (full-back?) Gvardiol. O’Reilly drops from the team due to rotation concerns and the quick turnaround between FPL GW13 and GW14 and filling in for the City spot is Gvardiol. The Croatian is far more nailed than O’Reilly and, though perhaps a less exciting pick, is therefore a better pick for this round of fixtures. City face Fulham (A), a side who looked good in spells against a terrible Spurs side, but may struggle more against this well drilled City team.

FPL GW14 Scout Picks – Midfielders

We’ve gone for a midfield four of Bruno, Mbeumo, Foden and Anderson for FPL GW14…
A Manchester United midfield double up is a great way to attack their fixture against West Ham in FPL GW14, with Bruno and Mbeumo the outstanding options. Cunha and Sesko remain doubts for this game, so Mbeumo looks pretty nailed despite having played 90′ against Palace on Sunday. The ex-Brentford winger took 3 shots (0.41xG) but failed to find the back of the net against Palace at the weekend, making it two games without a goal for the forward since the international break. Mbeumo’s 5 goals and 1 assist make him United’s leading goalscorer this season, and his underlying numbers (0.37xG/90 + 0.21xA/90) make him a very attractive option when his minutes are secure.

Bruno scored a whopping 11 FPL points against Palace in FPL GW13, providing 2 assists and picking up 3 bonus points. The midfield maestro dominated the midfield, creating 4 chances and taking 1 shot during the game as well as making 11 Defensive contributions (just 1 short of the defcon threshold!). Manchester United are in good form, and West Ham are really struggling, so a double up of Bruno and Mbeumo could be lethal!
Foden retains his spot in the team following an electric performance in FPL GW13 against Leeds. The englishman is in great form going into this fixture against Fulham, and although rotation is a concern, we think that Foden should keep his place in the team for this one.

Foden Stats against Leeds in FPL GW13:
- 1 Chance Created
- 4 Shots
- 0.70xG
- 0.22xA
- 2 Goals
- 1 Big Chance Missed
- 15 FPL points (inc 3 bonus)
Finally we have Forest’s Anderson. Forest face a wallowing Wolves team in FPL GW14, making them a team to target going into this fixture. Forest struggled with Brighton’s intensity, but may find it easier to get time and space on the ball in this one. Anderson is an ever-present in this Forest team, and has picked up 56 FPL points so far this season. His diversity of point scoring is what makes him such an attractive option, defcon, goals, assists, bonus points – he can do it all! MGW may be a more exciting pick(but has injury concerns), but we’re backing Anderson for FPL GW14, a player who hasn’t blanked in his last 4 premier league appearances!

FPL GW14 Scout Picks – Forwards

Haaland despite his blank in GW13(Sorry Triple Captainers) make the team vs FUL(A) and also takes up the Captaincy arm band. Despite the 2 consecutive blanks, Haaland has 14 goals, 1 assist from 13 games which is an incredible stat to say the least. Even though Haaland blanked vs Leeds, Manchester City scored 3 goals without him being involved. It is a good sign(even for Haaland owners) in the longer run with players like Foden, Doku in form.
If you believe in metrics like xAnger, Haaland has liked this Instagram post. He would be very much looking forward to prove a point!

Mateta is the next pick up against Burnley(A). With Palace going through a tight schedule, minutes are always going to be a concern and BUR(A) game offers a good chance to rest him. But with Sarr also injured at the moment, our prediction is that Mateta still starts this once but gets subbed off early. Despite the minutes risk, he makes it because both form and fixture favour him.
Mateta scored in GW13 vs Manchester United to take his season tally to 7 goals, but he should have easily scored one more goal. He is always getting the Big Chances(18 Big chances from 13 games) and xG- Ranking only behind Haaland for both. His opponents for GW14 are Burnley who are winless in last 4 matches and are ranked 20th for xGC and Big chances Conceded this season.
Woltemade rounds up the GW14 Scout Picks Team as a relatively Differential pick. Newcastle has won their last 2 games in the league(vs Man City and Everton) and are slowly beginning to find form. Woltemade scored in the 1-4 win vs Everton taking his tally upto 5 goals from 10 starts for Newcastle this season. Woltemade is up against a Spurs side who has won only once in last 7 games across competitions and are struggling. In the league, Spurs have conceded 9 goals from the last 4 games- 4th worst among all teams during this time.

Even if his minutes gets reduced this week(due to midweek game), He should be a good pick facing BUR(H) and SUN(A) in the next 2 games after this.
