Euro Fantasy MD1 Differentials: Players Who Could Cause Havoc

As we approach the EUROs, our attention turns to EURO Fantasy. With only 7 Matchdays, many managers will be looking to gain an advantage with some juicy euro fantasy differentials. Here, I look at 6 players under 5% ownership with favorable fixtures in MD1, for those looking to have a great start in the game. Let’s get into it!

Euro Fantasy Differentials ~ Defenders

Martin Hinteregger (MKD), £4.5, TSB: 3%

Hinteregger looks set to start for Austria, after playing 90 against England

A great budget option this tournament, Hinteregger seems to have gone under the radar so far. Despite having a weak defense, I think Austria’s defenders could prove great players for points. Hinteregger seems the most nailed Defender and has good goal involvement potential, registering 2 goals & 1 assist for Frankfurt this season.

And to top it all off, they are playing a North Macedonia side who would be lucky to get a goal in the tournament. The Austrians are at a 55% chance of a Clean Sheet and having only conceded 9 goals in 10 EURO Qualifying games, there are points to be had for Hinteregger.

Ricardo Rodríguez (WAL), £5.5, TSB: 2%

With the Defender on pens, Rodríguez looks like a great option for MD1

Turning to a more attacking option, Rodríguez looks like a fantastic punt for MD1. The full-back is always looking to get forward, often looking to get balls into the box. Rodríguez has not featured a lot this season for Torino, but in the last 4 games, the Swiss has scored 1 goal & assisted 2, highlighting his attacking intent. His 0.95 shots per 90 this season show how attacking Rodríguez really is.

The Red Crosses face a Wales side who have been abysmal going forward, only scoring 3 goals in the last 5 Internationals. Switzerland also have a 44% chance of a clean sheet, so I can see a big haul coming for Rodríguez. A good shout this week, and one I am considering.

Euro Fantasy Differentials ~ Midfielders

Christian Eriksen (FIN), £9.0, TSB: 4%

Christian Eriksen Euro Fantasy Differentials
Eriksen has looked remarkable for Denmark in recent matches, with 5 goals in European Qualifiers

Moving onto Midfielders, Eriksen is one man who is almost certainly in my MD1 team. The Danish Mid is a set piece specialist, who scores free kicks for fun, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he bagged a few goals this tournament. The midfielder has an expected Goal Involvement of 0.45 per 90, highest in the Danish squad. Eriksen also takes 2.49 shots per 90, so there will definitely be points incoming for the Dane.

Turning to the opposition, Finland seems to be one of the whipping boys this tournament; beaten 1-0 by Estonia and 2-0 by Sweden in recent friendlies, they seem written off already. They did, however, only concede 10 goals in 10 EURO Qualifier games, but includes conceding 4 to Italy and 4 to Bosnia! A fantastic option this week, Eriksen will be in many manager’s heads.

Bernardo Silva (HUN), £8.5, TSB: 2%

Silva has been playing a more advanced role for Portugal, increasing his potential attacking returns.
Silva has been playing a more advanced role for Portugal, increasing his potential attacking returns.

Bernardo Silva has always been a differential, often being rotated in a Pep Guardiola Roulette. But I think Silva could make this EUROs his own. The Portugese worked at an xA of 0.20 per 90 this season, with an expected goal involvement of 0.35 per 90, despite only playing 60% of minutes. His advanced position for the Portugal side will not go unnoticed, as he will often be the man pulling the strings behind CR7.

The opponents are unfancied by all, with Hungary being handed the Group of death. The Magyars were poor in EURO Qualifying, only scoring 8 goals in 8 games and conceding 11, only qualifying in 4th place. And with the quality in the Portuguese camp, this could be a demolition job. Forever low owned, Silva is a great differential option for MD1.

Euro Fantasy Differentials ~ Forwards

Marko Arnautović (MKD), £7.0, TSB: 2%

Marko Arnautović ~ Euro Fantasy Differentials
The forward has been an ever present in the side when fit, scoring 26 goals for the national team.

Arnautović will forever divide opinion among Fantasy managers, with the Austrian often either scoring countless goals, or costing points with silly suspensions. But I think he will thrive this EUROs, having been given the all clear after recovering from a muscle injury. The forward has played in the Chinese League this season, so timing is off, but has scored 3 goals in 4 games, showing he’s still got it. With 26 International goals to his game, Arny is chasing the record 44 goals for his side.

We have already spoken about North Macedonia, but we are targeting them as they’re poor at both ends. The Lions conceded 13 goals in 10 EURO Qualifier games, which is very poor considering the caliber of the opposition. Hence I think Arnautović is a great option for the first game.

Alexander Isak (SPA), £8.0, TSB: 2%

The Youngster looks a great prospect for the Tournament, having scored 17 La Liga goals last Campaign.
The Youngster looks a great prospect for the Tournament, having scored 17 La Liga goals last Campaign.

Despite being only 21, Isak has the potential to kill it this tournament. Seemingly nailed in a strong Sweden side, Isak managed 17 goals in a Sociedad side that lacked creativity. At an xG of 0.48 per 90, and taking 2.88 shots per 90, points are bound to come for the Swede. The Blue and Yellow also scored 23 goals in 10 EURO Qualifiers, a fantastic record.

The only downside for Isak is the opposition; Spain have been formidable in defence in recent years, only conceding 5 in 10 Qualifiers. And with the introduction of Laporte, it may be tough to break them down. However, with Ramos side-lined with injury, Isak can target the weaker Pau Torres, with a superior height advantage. It will be a tough game for the Swede, but one I think he can thrive in.
