Euro Fantasy Football ~ Best Midfielders to Target in your MD1 Team

Euro Fantasy Football Match-day 1 is around the corner. Here is our analysis on the best midfielders to have in your Euro Fantasy team going into Match-day 1. We have classified defenders into three categories, Premium midfielders, mid-range midfielders, and Budget midfielders. So let’s have a look at our eight midfield options whom you should consider and add to your Euro Fantasy squads.

Best Euro Fantasy Midfielders are classified into three sections:

  • Premium Midfielders
  • Mid Range Midfielders
  • Budget Midfielders

Euro Fantasy Best Premium Midfielders

1. Eden Hazard £10m Ownership 4%

Hazard has not been at his best but we all know what he can do
Hazard has not been at his best but we all know what he can do

With De Bruyne out for Belgium more pressure will be on Hazard to deliver and the passages of play will also likely be revolved around Hazard. For Belgium’s qualifiers Hazard managed a return of 2 goals and 7 assists averaging out to an 1.67 attacking returns every 90 minutes! Hazard is also Belgium’s penalty taker and with 4% ownership, he could be a brilliant differential option!

2. Christian Eriksen £9M Ownership 3%

Playmaker for Denmark and a bargain at 9 Mil
Playmaker for Denmark and a bargain at 9 Mil

As Denmark’s talisman everything will flow through Eriksen, he is on corners; free kicks, and penalties so there is plenty of opportunities for him to return outside of open play! Scoring 5 goals and gathering 3 assists in 7 starts for Denmark’s journey through the EURO Qualifiers. Coming up against Finland for Match Day 1 I fully expect him to get a return, if not multiple returns!

3. Frederico Chiesa £7m 22% ownership

Frederico Chiesa is a very special palyer
Frederico Chiesa is a gem

Next up Frederico Chiesa for Italy. Another very popular player in the community and for good reason, as he is the perfect captain option for matchday 1 against Turkey. The 7m winger provides excellent value and attacking threat, getting a goal and 3 assists in Italy’s Euro qualifiers. Also scoring 9 and assisting 9 this season for Juventus at the age of just 23.

4. Ferran Torres £8m Ownership 10%

Ferran Torres unlike in FPL could be a very good Euro Fantasy asset
Ferran Torres unlike in FPL could be a very good Euro Fantasy asset

Ferran Torres is a very versatile player who can play on both wings but also down the middle. I expect him to start for Spain and have a cracking tournament. Priced at 8m and at just 10% ownership he could be a very nice option to get on early before everyone else! Scoring 7 goals for Man City in his first season in the Premier League. But his real claim to fame is scoring a hat trick vs Germany back in November! Torres is definitely a player going under the radar.

5. Georginio Wijnaldum £8m Ownership 5%

Gini plays in a very advanced role for the dutch team and is a very good fantasy asset

Playing in a much higher attacking role than he does at club level with Liverpool. Wijnaldum certainly offers plenty of attacking threat! Scoring 7 goals and also getting an assist in his last 5 games for the Netherlands, he definitely has to be considered. The Netherlands also have a very favorable group playing Ukraine, Austria, and North Macedonia, so he has the potential to be a great “set and forget” player for our squads.

Euro Fantasy Best Cheap Midfielders

Dan James is one of the best in his price range
Dan James is one of the best in his price range

There are very few cheap options this year that we can rely on for attacking returns but here are few players that we like the look of. Dan James £6.5m and is only owned by 1% of managers. James is a guaranteed starter for Wales, playing up front with Gareth Bale, and has registered 2 goals and 2 assists on international duty this season! David Alaba is the other cheap option for your midfield. Alaba is priced at just £5.5m making him a very affordable option and is also the Austrian penalty taker.

Euro Fantasy Midfielders to avoid

Kante is certainly a great player but you'll not like having him in your euro fantasy team

Our final point to consider when selecting your midfielders is to think about the role they play in midfield for their nation. For example, two very popular options are N’Golo Kante (40% ownership) and Joshua Kimmich (23% ownership) Both are incredibly talented footballers but for fantasy football both poor options. They are more likely to get you a yellow card instead of an attacking return. To conclude it is far more beneficial to select midfielders who play higher up the pitch in attacking roles such as Frederico Chiesa, Dan James, and Georginio Wijnaldum instead of better-known players like N’Golo Kante. Kante is certainly a great player but you’ll not like having him in your euro fantasy team once the tournament begins!
