FPL GW24 Scout Picks Based on Stats, Analysis, and Matchups

Welcome to our FPL GW24 Scout Picks blog. Our fantastic scout @FPLDaggaFC (Do follow him on Twitter) is back with his Scout picks for Gameweek 24, as always our Scout picks are backed up by eye test, stats, and analysis.

Last season our scout picks won 21.5 vs 15.5 against the Official FPL Scout picks. This season the score is 11.5-11.5 heading into GW24

FPL GW24 Scout Picks

FPL GW24 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

Despite the midweek FA Cup win over Villa, Chelsea’s form(particularly in the league) has not been great. Despite this Petrovic takes the gloves in our team mainly due to the fixture vs Palace who will be without Olise and Eze.

Palace lack creativity and attacking threat without Olise and Eze which was seen during GW23. In GW23- Palace recorded 0.32 xG and 0 Big Chances, 3 Shots inside the box- Lowest for these metrics among all teams in GW23. This improves the chances of a clean sheet for Chelsea and Petrovic.

FPL GW24 Scout Picks – Defenders

Alexander Arnold up against Burnley(H) is one of the Top defender picks for GW24. He made his return from injury and started in GW23 vs Arsenal. Before his injury, he was in excellent form till GW20.

TAA Stats from GW12-GW20:

• 9 Big Chances Created(1st among all players)
• 4.0 xGI(2nd among Defenders)
• 32 Chances created(Joint 1st among all players)
• 66 FPL Points(2nd among all players)

Since GW16, Burnley are Top for Headed Attempts conceded in the league favoring the matchup for TAA. So don’t be surprised to see a Jota/Darwin header. Liverpool also have a confirmed Double Gameweek in GW25- Brentford(A), Luton(H). So getting him in a week before with a great fixture vs Burnley can work out really well.

Trippier up against Forest(A) is the next pick. Even though Newcastle defense have not been in recent weeks, Trippier can get still get attacking returns as seen with 1 goal, 2 assists from the last 2 games. Matchup alert: Forest have conceded 67 crosses from their left zone over the last 6 games- Third the Highest in the league. This matchup should help Trippier to get another attacking return vs Forest in GW24.

Alfie Doughty completes the defense with a tempting fixture vs SHU(H) in GW24, followed by 2 DGWs(GW25, GW28) and a blank in GW26 in between. He is a great differential pick at just 6.0% overall ownership. Doughty has most assists(6) in the league since GW15 and also has the most FPL Points(47) among Defenders during this time. All these great numbers despite playing Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Brighton, Newcastle(twice) in this run.

FPL GW24 Scout Picks – Midfielders

Manchester City duo of Foden and De Bruyne lead the midfield pack. Phil Foden is still fresh from his brilliant hatrrick and 20 point haul vs Brentford in GW23. Not just the last week, Foden has been consistently ticking along even before that blanking only once since GW17 with 4 goals, 4 assists from 6 games. Foden also has a good record vs Everton- 4 goals, 1 assist in 8 games vs Everton.

De Bruyne has not yet blanked since his return from injury with 1 goal, 3 assists from 3 games so far. With Manchester City confirmed to Double in GW25 and also not blank in GW26, midfield double up of Foden, De Bruyne along with Haaland at top offers great upside potential. City’s next 3 fixtures are all at home which makes the case more stronger.

Richarlison is one of the most in-form players in the league at the moment. He has 9 goals, 71 points from the last 8 games and has blanked only once during this period. No players has more goals or FPL Points during this time. Despite blanking in GW26, he is still a good pick for the next 2 games vs Brighton(H) and Wolves(H). Brighton have kept only 2 clean sheets from 23 games this season and Wolves have conceded the 5th most Big Chances(52) in the league.

Diogo Jota has taken up the majority of goal scoring duties ever since Salah left for AFCON. In the league Jota has 3 goals, 1 assist from 3 games ever since Salah left. We all know the explosive potential of Jota along with his clinical finishing. With an excellent fixture in GW24 and a confirmed Double in GW25, Jota should be one of your Top Transfer Targets for this week!

Matchup alert- Jota and Darwin Nunez

• Since GW16, Burnley have conceded 32 chances down the center which is the 2nd Highest among all teams during this time. This should favour both Jota and Darwin
• Burnley have conceded 47 goals this season- 2nd Highest among all teams only behind Sheffield United.

FPL GW24 Scout Picks – Forwards

Haaland made his first full start since his return from injury in GW24 and got an assist vs Brentford. Even after missing 5 full games due to injury, Haaland still leads the way for golden boot with 14 goals, 6 assists from 17 games. Despite Darwin topping the Captaincy metrics for GW24, Haaland takes the arm band in the Scout Team as the more safe and reliable option.

Darwin Nunez is a player who is really difficult to understand. Despite getting 7 goals, 9 assists this season it feels like he should have easily had more. His underlying numbers are really good throughout the season and over the last 5 weeks he tops all the goal scoring underlying numbers.

Darwin Nunez Stats since GW19(Rank in the league):

• Matches- 5
• Shots- 25 (1st)
• Shots on Target- 14 (1st)
• Shots inside the Box- 17 (1st)
• Big Chances- 8 (1st)
• xG- 4.09 (1st)
• xGI- 5.5 (1st)

This is a game where calculated risks should pay off and getting in Darwin this week would be one. One of the Top Players for underlying numbers this season up against Burnley(H) and a Double Gameweek up next, Darwin is surely worth the risk!

Solanke rounds up the Scout Team for GW24. Solanke is a 90 minute man and on penalties as well. He has 13 goals this season- Only Haaland(14) and Salah(14) have more goals than him in Premier League this season. Up against a Fulham who are ranked 3rd worst for xGC and 4th worst for Big Chances conceded this season, Solanke would be looking to continue his goal scoring form.

Solanke also loves playing Fulham with 3 goals, 1 assist in 4 games vs Fulham- averaging a return every game.
