After a very long break, we are back again for Gameweek 22. With more information gained on Double and Blank GWs, Wildcarding in GW22 is an interesting option. FPL GW22 Wildcard Guide
Upcoming Double Gameweeks and Blank Gameweeks:
- GW25- Confirmed Double for Manchester City and Brentford. Likely Double for Liverpool and Luton Town. Chelsea and Spurs could also double in GW25, but the chances are very low.
- GW26- Confirmed Blank Gameweek for Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Luton Town due to Carabao Cup final
- GW29- Blank Gameweek due to FA Cup Round 6. As it stands- Brentford, Burnley, Fulham and Spurs are the teams confirmed to have a fixture. Read more in detail with all scenarios explained here- Impact of FA Cup Results on FPL Blank Gameweek 29 | FPL BGW29
- GW34- Likely Double Gameweek and Less likely Blank Gameweek based on FA Cup results. FA cup semis take place at that time. But there is a free midweek after that so there are less chances of a Blank Gameweek.
- GW37- Bigger DGW than GW34 that will slot all the postponed fixtures.
- Apart from all these, Bournemouth and Luton Town have a Double Gameweek yet to be rescheduled.

Players to Target on FPL GW22 Wildcard:
- Goalkeepers: Neto, Raya, Ederson
Enabler: Dubravka, Turner
- Defenders: Estupinan, Porro, Saliba/Gabriel, Konsa, Walker, Doughty, Burn/Botman, Dawson/Kilman,
Enablers: Bell, Van Hecke, Taylor, Branthwaite, Livramento
- Midfielders: Saka, Bowen, Kevin De Bruyne, Doku, Gordon, Silva, Kudus, Odegaard, Gross, Jota, Richarlison, Foden, Bailey, Palmer, Neto, Douglas Luiz
Enablers: Garnacho, Chukwuemka
- Forwards: Haaland*, Solanke, Toney, Alvarez(only if Haaland is ruled out for GW22), Watkins, Pedro, Darwin,
Enablers: Wood, Adebayo
FPL GW22 Wildcard Drafts
FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft 1(Plan to bench boost in GW25):
Planner used: FPL Team
- This draft covers your team well for the DGW25(8 DGW players), BGW26(10 confirmed players) and also keep the option open to Free Hit for GW29 depending upon the FA Cup Results
- Also has good bench strength. Even if Haaland is ruled out for GW22, he should be fit for GW23 and this draft has good bench to cover for it.
- Can get proven players with less ownership but with high upside- Estupinan, Alexander Arnold, Jota, De Bruyne, Toney, Doughty and Pedro.
- Toney is back into the mix with a goal in his return game. As it stands, Brentford are the only team confirmed to Double in GW25 and also not blank in GW29.
- Pedro has 7 goals, 1 assist in his last 5 games in all competitions. Both Toney and Pedro are still lowly owned and you could get ahead of the curve getting these players. Pedro and Brighton also has excellent fixtures in the coming weeks.
- Defense is covered by TAA, Estupinan as the explosive picks. TAA is back from injury and is also likely to have a good Double in GW25. Estupinan has returned in 3/3 PL games since his return from injury and also has great fixtures as seen above. Doughty is another player who is in good form and is likely to have a Double in GW25. Konsa and Walker complete the defense.
- Jota looks to be the main man for Liverpool in the absence of Salah. He rewarded his early buyers with a massive 19 point(2 goals, 1 assist) in GW21. Jota and De Bruyne are the explosive picks in midfield while Saka and Palmer offer solidity. Garnacho is the bench option with a good fixture in GW25 vs Luton Town(Bench Boost), doesn’t blank in GW26 and has a good fixture(Fulham(H)), and will have a good fixture in GW29(vs Sheffield(H)) if United avoid the blank.
Cons of the above draft:
- No Pedro Porro and Arsenal defense cover. No Watkins. They also have Effective ownership right now and a big haul from them could see a big drop in rankings. But it is a calculated risk and there are so many good upside picks in the above draft to catch up for it.
- No Triple Captain in GW25 if you are playing bench boost. If Haaland/Salah are fully fit and available for GW25, many managers will be Triple captaining Salah/Haaland. However both these players might not be playing 180 minutes in the DGW(even if they are fit) as they are coming back from injuries.
Projection of the above Wildcard Draft for DGW25:
- Bench Boost active for GW25 even with no planned transfers made. If you Wildcard in GW22, it is better to use the Bench Boost as early as GW25 and reduce the squad size to 12/13 starting players for the rest of the season. It is difficult to carry 15 players for as late as GW34/GW37 bench boost after Wildcarding in GW22.
- 8 Double Gameweek players for GW25: Kaminski, Doughty, Walker, TAA, Diogo Jota, De Bruyne, Haaland, Toney assuming Liverpool and Luton double also get rescheduled for DGW25(which is very likely, Read more about Upcoming Double and Blank Gameweeks here). Manchester City and Brentford double for GW29 is confirmed already.
- You can also get in the 3rd Liverpool asset- Salah/Nunez/Robbo/VVD based on the latest injury news and game state with the free transfers leading upto GW25.
Projection of the above Wildcard Draft for BGW26:
- Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool and Luton Town are all confirmed to blank in GW26.
- With this draft, you already have 10 players for GW26. The planned transfer shown in the above draft is Palmer to Bailey. But it could be Jota/Saka as well making way for another midfielder based on Gameweek 29 Blank information.

FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft 2
- More safer/balanced draft keeping the option of Bench Boost in GW25/Free Hit in GW26 open. You can take that decision later based on the game state and players availability at that time.
- You can also have Richarlison/Maddison over Gross if you have the money and sure of playing Free Hit in GW26.
- Watkins is a more reliable and safer pick if you want a player for the longer run.
- Newcastle duo of Gordon, Botman come into this draft. They have completed their tough run of fixtures, have a good run of fixtures now. Gordon has 7 goals, 7 assists from 19 games and has been their main man in attack. Botman is a great value pick at just 4.5 million, their defense should improve with their first choice back 4 fully fit now.
