FPL GW24 Wildcard Guide

Upcoming Double Gameweeks and Blank Gameweeks:

  • GW25- Double Gameweek for Manchester City, Brentford, Liverpool and Luton Town.
  • GW26- Blank Gameweek for Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Luton Town due to Carabao Cup final
  • GW28- Double Gameweek for Luton Town and Bournemouth
  • GW29- Blank Gameweek due to FA Cup Round 6. As it stands- Villa, West Ham, Brentford, Burnley, Fulham, and Spurs are the teams confirmed to have a fixture. Read more in detail with all scenarios explained here- Impact of FA Cup Results on FPL Blank Gameweek 29 | FPL BGW29
  • GW34- Likely Double Gameweek and Less likely Blank Gameweek based on FA Cup results. FA Cup semis take place at that time. But there is a free midweek after that so there are less chances of a Blank Gameweek.
  • GW37- Bigger DGW than GW34 that will slot all the postponed fixtures.

Players to Target on FPL GW24 Wildcard:

  • Goalkeepers: Ederson, Raya, Neto, Kaminski, Flekken
    Enabler: Dubravka, Areola, Turner
  • Defenders: TAA, Estupinan, Porro, Saliba/Gabriel, Moreno/Konsa, Walker, Van Dijk, Doughty, Burn/Botman, Dawson/Kilman/Ait Nouri, Trippier, Shaw
Enablers: Bell/Mengi, Van Hecke, Taylor, Branthwaite
  • Midfielders: Saka, Bowen, Kevin De Bruyne, Gordon*, Silva, Kudus, Martinelli, Gross, Jota, Richarlison, Foden, Bailey, Palmer, Neto, Douglas Luiz, Diaz
    Enablers: Garnacho, Chukwuemka, Barkley
  • Forwards: Haaland, Solanke, Toney, Alvarez, Watkins, Pedro, Darwin, Cunha
    Enablers: Adebayo

Pros of GW24 Wildcard:

  • Teams that Double in GW25- Liverpool, City, Brentford, and Luton Town also have good fixtures in GW24. So it might be a good idea to get them a week early to gain the upside.
    • Liverpool vs Burnley(H)
    • Man City vs Everton(H)
    • Luton Town vs Sheffield United(H)
    • Brentford vs Wolves(A)
  • Immediate rank gains are to be made with upcoming Double and Blank Gameweeks.
  • Getting rid of the bench boost as early as GW25 could be useful to reduce the squad size and get the key players you want. Other strategies of WC30/WC31 would mean using Bench Boost in GW34/GW37 which would mean holding on to 15 main players for very long which is difficult.
  • Using Bench Boost in GW25 can be useful as there are many popular FPL assets with good single Gameweek fixture and you need not bench them for DGW assets.
    • Arsenal vs Burnley(A)[Saka, Martinelli, Gabriel/Saliba]
    • Aston Villa vs Fulham(A)[Watkins, Moreno, Bailey]
    • Newcastle vs Bournemouth(H)[Gordon, Defenders]
    • Brighton vs Sheffield(A)[Estupinan, Pedro, Gross]

Cons of GW24 Wildcard:

  • The main con of using Bench Boost in GW25 would be that you will be up against Haaland Triple Captainers in GW25 where his EO could be high. However, you can make grounds with Bench Boost in GW25 and Triple Captain Chip later on.
  • No Salah in the drafts as it stands with him not being fully fit. If he is fit for DGW25, should make plans and transfers accordingly which could disturb the structure
  • The other main Wildcard window is WC30/WC31 and you will need to plan and set up your team accordingly to get close to their teams with Free transfers.
  • No Richarlison/Porro likely in your Wildcard team for GW24 but Richarlison is in good form and can continue to tick along.
  • Difficult to pick the front 3 in your Wildcard. Haaland, Solanke, Darwin, Toney, Watkins, Cunha, Pedro and Adebayo all have their own case to make the squad in their own way.

FPL GW24 Wildcard Drafts

FPL GW24 Wildcard Draft 1(With plan to BB in GW25):

Planner used: FPL Team

  • This Wildcard draft covers you well for the Upcoming DGW25 and BGW26 and DGW28.
  • 8/9 Double Gameweek players for GW25 with Bench Boost active, 11 Confirmed players for Blank Gameweek 26, and 3 players for DGW28!

Chip Strategy for this Draft:

  • Bench Boost in GW25
  • Free Hit GW29/GW34
  • Triple Captain GW37/GW28
  • Triple Captain in GW37 would potentially be Haaland/KDB vs Fulham(A), and Spurs(A). Triple Captain in GW28 would be Solanke vs Sheffield United(H), Luton(H).
  • Having both Kaminski/Doughty may sound like pushing the DGW agenda too much considering Luton Town are not strong defensively. But Kaminski is a save monster- 3rd Highest for Saves made this season. Doughty has the most assists(6) in the league since GW15 and always has a good attacking threat. Along with DGW25, Luton also Double in GW28 meaning 2 Double Gameweeks in a span of 4 GWs.
  • Watkins is in great form with an 18-point haul vs Sheffield United in GW25. If you are a brave manager who loves to take calculated risks, you can go ahead with Toney in this draft who doubles in GW25 and does not blank in both GW26 and GW29. If you want to play it very safe, Have Watkins on Wildcard and then later move out to Toney/Adebayo for the Double.
  • TAA, Palmer, Saka, Gross, Jota, and Foden- All pick themselves with current form, great fixtures, and upcoming Double Gameweeks.
  • Alex Moreno is the Differential Defender pick with a huge upside and Villa don’t blank in GW29 as well. If you want to play it safe you can go for Torres. Moreno can be benched sometimes when Digne is back from injury. Van Hecke is the enabler pick with good fixtures coming up.
  • This draft has a third Liverpool slot open as well and can be used to target DGW25 if required.

Projection for Gameweek 25(Bench Boost active)

  • Planned transfer-> Palmer to Hee Chan/Neto/Bailey(Bailey the better option if you don’t want to use Free Hit in GW29 as Bailey has a confirmed fixture in GW29)
  • Bench Boost active with 8 Double Gameweek players-> Haaland(c), Foden, Ederson, Jota, TAA, Doughty, Kaminski
  • The slight worry in doing this move would be Watkins has a good fixture- Fulham(A) in GW25 where his EO would still be high.

Projection for Blank Gameweek 26:

  • Planned Transfer-> Transfer Rolled
  • With Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, and Luton all blanking in GW26 having 11 starting players with no transfers/hits can fetch you massive gains

Gameweek 28/Gameweek 29:

  • 3 DGW players already for the GW28 – Solanke, Doughty, and Kaminski. You will have 2 FTs going into GW27 as planned above. Solanke Triple Captain vs Sheffield United(H), Luton(H) is an exciting option.
  • GW29 Blank Fixtures will be confirmed before the GW27 deadline. You will already have 3 players confirmed players for GW29 even before GW27- Toney, Moreno and Bailey
  • You can use the 4 FTs from GW27-GW29 to Target Double Gameweek players for GW28 or players who don’t blank in GW29 based on the info we get and your chip strategy.
  • Saka/Foden to Spurs Mids(Richarlison/Maddison/Son) would be the likely moves. Arsenal likely blank in GW29 and have a tough fixture in GW30 vs Man City(A). At the same time, Spurs have 2 good fixtures in GW29 and GW30- Fulham(A), and Luton(H).

FPL GW24 Wildcard Draft 2:

  • One with Watkins, Toney, and Haaland front 3. Plan to get Solanke in GW28 for Toney.
  • More attacking draft with a City attack triple-up of KDB, Foden, and Haaland to chase upside. The sacrifice comes in the form of TAA who is downgraded to Konate who should be back for DGW25 after suspension. No Saka is another gamble taken in this draft.
  • Flekken got an assist, made 12 saves(4 save points), 2 bonus points vs City in GW23, and has a DGW in GW25, a Confirmed fixture in GW26 and GW29. Although the fixtures in GW25 are difficult for Brentford, Flekken could still get save points on the bench boost
  • You can go for a Wolves defender for Van Hecke if you think Wolves won’t blank in GW29 based on these scenarios. Wolves will have good fixture in both BGW26(vs Sheffield) and BGW29(vs Bournemouth).
  • Garnacho in for Gross is an option in this draft which can help you do some upgrades like Van Hecke to Estupinan/ Konate to VVD.

GW25 Bench Boost Projection:

  • Planned Moves-> Palmer to Bailey/Douglas Luiz or Hee-Chan(if you gamble Wolves to not blank in GW29)
  • Bench Boost active with 9 Double Gameweek players for GW25 and 6 Single GW players with good fixtures as well.

GW26 Projection

  • Planned Transfer> Transfer Rolled
  • 11 starting players for GW26 even without making any transfers.

GW27/GW28/GW29 Plans:

  • GW27 transfer plan is Toney to Solanke. Even though Toney has a good and confirmed fixture in GW29, this move helps you to attack the immediate next 2 weeks.
GW27GW28
ToneyChelsea(H)Arsenal(A)
SolankeBurnley(A)Sheffield(H), Luton(H)
  • GW28/GW29: You will have 3 confirmed Doublers for GW28- Solanke, Kaminski, and Doughty. One FT to get one more player for GW29(we will know the confirmed list of fixtures before GW27) and roll the other FT.
  • GW29 planned transfer is Solanke to Toney which will help you have 7 confirmed players for GW29- Flekken, Torres, Bailey, Watkins, Toney, and 2 players bought in GW28, GW29 using FTs. You can have more players if a few upsets happen in the FA Cup and more fixtures get confirmed.

FPL GW24 Wildcard Draft 3:

  • This draft covers Richarlison who is in brilliant form- Ranking top in the league for xG, Goals scored, and FPL Points since GW16. Despite the blank in GW26, he is still a good pick till then. You can probably bench him in GW26.
  • 9 DGW players for GW25(Bench Boost) without doing any transfers
  • 10 players for Gameweek 26 after 2 FTs- Bailey and Playing Budget Mid(Pereira/Willian) from GW29 IN for Jota and Palmer
  • GW27-> Adebayo to Solanke on FT. Solanke vs Burnley is a good entry point before the Double Gameweek in GW28.
  • GW28-> Transfer rolled. You will have 3 DGW players already- Solanke, Kaminski, and Doughty. Solanke Triple captain
  • GW29-> 6 confirmed players for GW29- Watkins, Pau, Bailey, Willian/Pereira, Richarlison, Flekken. With 2 FTs you have 8 confirmed players for GW29 thereby saving Free Hit for GW34.
