It’s time to dust off the dirt and get into the game once more, as we help you evaluate the best captaincy option for your Fantasy teams for Gameweek 17.

FPL GW17 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
Without any surprises, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland tops the polls with 48.8% of the total votes.
He’s followed by Tottenham’s Harry Kane (11.9%) and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford (11%). The candidates list is rounded up by the Egyptian Mohammed Salah (9%) and Kevin DeBruyne (9%).

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 17 Captain picks
Erling Haaland tops our picks for Underlying Numbers. With 25 Shots Inside the Box, 7 Big Chances in total and an xG total of 4.53, as the striker leads the Attacking Stats factor for players in consideration.
Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah comes in behind Haaland, with 20 Shots Inside the Box, 8 Big chances and an xG total of 3.81.
Harry Kane just about gets beaten to third place with 7 Shots Inside the Box, 4 Big Chances and an xG of 3.25.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford with 13 shots inside the box, 6 Big Chances and xG of 2.11 comes fourth as Haaland’s teammate Kevin DeBruyne to fourth spot, who himself has 5 Shots Inside the Box, 0 Big Chances and xG of 0.52.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidate’s Teams
Liverpool have the best underlying numbers of the teams in comparison in the last 6 games. A total of 72 Shots Inside the Box and 23 Big Chances, helps in boosting their xG to 10.33, which is the highest of all teams in question.
Manchester City come in second behind their rivals. Although the shots volume is higher than United’s at 75 Shots Inside the Box, their 15 Big Chances in Total and xG at 9.79 are actually fewer, pushing them to second in our tables.
Tottenham come in behind City with 70 Shots Inside the Box, 18 Big Chances in total, and an xG of 9.64.
Lastly, Manchester United have the weakest underlying numbers of all teams involved in our picks, with 51 Shots Inside the Box, 16 Big Chances in Total, and an xG of 7.61.

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW17
In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates.
We will use Drafthound’s odds for a Team scoring at least One goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.5 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.
Manchester City lead the teams with a 91% chance of scoring at least 1 goal this Gameweek, and also have a 52% chance of scoring more than 2.5 goals this week.
Manchester United come in behind City, with an 89% of scoring at least 1 goal this Gameweek and a 44% chance of scoring more than 2.5 goals this Gameweek.
Liverpool have been given an 83% scoring at least 1 Goal this GW, while their odds to score at least 2.5 goals this Gameweek is at a lowly (by their standards) 31%.
Tottenham come last of the teams, with an 80% chance of scoring at least 1 goal this gameweek, and a 27% chance of scoring more than 2.5 goals in their game against Leeds this Gameweek.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 17 Captain Picks
In the Fourth Phase of the article, I have used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points Tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week.
I have then averaged the Two Ranks to churn out the Average Rank Factor, which I have used to determine the Safest yet Explosive option.
Erling Haaland has the highest Anytime Returns Projections at 79%, while his Projected Points stand at 9.2 for the week.
Harry Kane has an Anytime Returns Projection at 77%, and the highest Projected Points at 8.8 this week, just behind the Manchester City talisman.
Kevin De Bruyne has an Anytime Returns Projections of 69% while the Projected Points stand at 7.1, which puts him in third place.
Marcus Rashford has an Anytime Returns Projections at 60% and Projected Points at 6.4, as he manages to put Mohammed Salah last, with an Anytime Returns Projections at 54% and Projected Points at 6.0 .

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 17 Captaincy metric analysis
In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). The Candidate having the lowest Cumulative Rank Factor is the most ideal Captaincy Option according to this metric.
Unsurprisingly, it is Erling Haaland, who comes out on top with a CRF Value of 5.
His teammate, Kevin De Bruyne with a CRF value of 11 comes second behind Haaland, showing why he is such a strong pick again for the restart.
Mohammed Salah only manages to finish third with a CRF value of 12, who beats Harry Kane (CRF value 14) as Marcus Rashford rounds up this analysis, with a CRF value of 16.
