FPL Gameweek 17- Gameweek 23 Fixture Ticker

FPL Players and Teams to Target from FPL Gameweek 17

Chelsea

Chelsea is at the top of the fixture ticker for the next five Gameweeks. They have lucrative fixtures ahead which could help their assets fetch points. Chelsea face Bournemouth at home in GW17, after which they take on Forest. They also have a double Gameweek against Manchester City and Fulham in GW19.

FPL Players and Teams to Target from FPL Gameweek 17- Chelsea
Chesea | Fixtures: GW17-22

So far this season, Chelsea have scored as well as conceded a total of 17 goals each. They are able to hold the majority of the ball throughout their matches and are ranked third for the same in the PL. Chelsea’s defensive side has been slightly better this season. They have conceded 5th least shots from inside this box.

In defence, Reece James (5.8m) and Cucurella (5.1m) are the options to consider from Chelsea. Managers may not be confident in having them in their team due to their rotation risk and high susceptibility to injuries. To target the clean sheets, their GK, Kepa Arrizabalaga at 4.5m could be the one to go for if he is confirmed fit.

Going forward, Mason Mount (7.5m) has been great this season and would be on many’s watchlists for these fixtures. Other options like Aubameyang, Havertz, and Sterling involve more risk so I would suggest giving them a few fixtures before jumping on them.

They have had decent stats at best so far however, due to the long break we shouldn’t put much emphasis on previous numbers. With good fixtures, they can easily turn those around.

Manchester City

The team which has been ranked 2nd in the fixture ticker is Manchester City. Regardless of their fixtures, players like Haaland and Cancelo are close to what we call must-haves in our teams. They face Leeds and Everton to resume their season. Moreover, they also have a double Gameweek in GW20.

Man City | Fixtures: GW17-22

These fixtures make managers think, about which player they should have in their team as the third option from Man City. With a plethora of options available, from defence to attack, managers could choose the player depending on the team structure they want to proceed with.

In defence, the double-up Dias (5.9m) along with Cancelo (7.4m) could help target the potential clean sheets.

Going forward, players like KDB (12.6m) and Foden (8.3m), along with Erling Haaland (12.2m) up top could end up being fruitful. To no surprise, Man City tends to score a lot of goals and thus have 40 goals this season so far. Having multiple options from their attack could help fetch FPL managers a lot of points.

Manchester United

A little down the fixture ticker list is Manchester United. Although there are always concerns regarding them in the air, they have performed fairly well this season. They are in 5th place in the league table with 26 points and have a fair shot at ending up in the top four this season.

FPL Players and Teams to Target from FPL Gameweek 17- Manchester United
Man United | Fixtures: GW17-22

Man United have three easy fixtures to restart the season with. They face Nottingham Fores, Wolves, and Bournemouth. In GW20 and GW21, they have difficult fixtures against the league toppers.

United have scored a total of 20 goals this season while conceding 20 goals as well. They also have a high shot accuracy of 35.8 per cent. They have also created a lot of chances this season and are 6th in the PL for the same.

Dalot (4.8m) is the clear option to get from their defence. He has been incredible this season and scored a total of 48 points so far. Their GK, David De Gea at 4.9m should also not be overlooked, as they have a high potential to keep clean sheets over the next three fixtures.

For offensive options, Bruno Fernandes (9.8m) and Marcus Rashford (6.7m) are great options to own. Bruno although comes at a premium, could be worth investing in with these fixtures. Anthony Martial (6.7m) should also be considered in that forward spot, considering the dismissal of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Marcus Rashford (6.7m) Vs Bruno Fernandes (9.8m) | Comparison

FPL managers are posed with a dilemma between the two, whether they should pay the premium for their talisman, or the more effective budget option, Marcus Rashford. Let’s try and determine which one you should go with!

Blue – Fernandes | Red – Rashford

As we can see, Bruno tends to be the assist magnet, while Rashford is more likely to rack up goals from open play. Moreover, Nottingham Forest have conceded 4th most goal attempts from set pieces which makes Bruno an attractive option to own. Even Bournemouth, whom they go on to face in GW19 are ranked 2nd worst in the list.

World Cup Analysis

The World Cup journey for both players was fairly well. However, Rashford comes out on top by a margin. Rashford had higher penalty area touches and 54 minutes per goal, while Fernandes had 178.5 minutes per goal. Rashford also had a higher goal conversion rate as compared to his Portuguese teammate.

On the other hand, in terms of assist, Fernandes looked much better and had 40 minutes per Chances Created.

Therefore, I would suggest having Rashford on your team as he seems to be a value-for-money player. However, a double-up along with Bruno is not the worst option, and could really prove to be grateful and help gain ranks.

Newcastle United

Another team that has great fixtures and is in the top half of the fixture ticker is Newcastle. They have had a surreal season so far. They are in third place in the league with 30 points and are definitely in contention of staying in the top four by the end of the season. Newcastle go on to face Leicester, Leeds, and Fulham over the next few weeks.

Newcaslte | Fixtures: GW17-22

Newcastle were the team in-form before the break, with an abundance of budget players available to own. They must not be overlooked while building your team for GW17, especially with decent upcoming fixtures for them.

The stand-out defensive option to own from Newcastle is Kieran Trippier (5.9m). He has been incredible so far and is the highest-scoring defender in the game currently. He has fetched a total of 4 assists this season. Trippier is a Must-Own Player for FPL GW17. Other defensive options from the team are Nick Pope (5.3m) and Schar (4.9m).

In the middle of the pitch, Almiron is yet another great option to have at the price of 5.8m. He has 8 goals and 2 assists this season. Other amazing options to consider in the midfield spot are Bruno Guimarães (5.7m) and Joe Willock (4.9m). Even Callum Wilson (7.4m) should be considered for the spot up front. As Isak is likely to miss out for the festive period as confirmed by Howe, Wilson(if fit) can be a good pick to start off against Leicester in GW17 and Leeds in GW18.

Fulham

The next team on this list is Fulham. Even they have great fixtures to restart the season with and could deliver points. They face Palace and Southampton back to back in GW17 and GW18.

Fulham | Fixtures: GW17-22

Fulham have had a decent season so far, and are currently in the mid-table position. Players like Mitrovic and Periera should be in our consideration.

Their defensive assets are not particularly exciting. However, Andreas (4.6m) is a great option to own in the midfield spot. He has accumulated 61 points so far this season. Along with him, Mitrovic (6.8m) is a great addition to the forward line. He has scored 9 goals this season and has the potential to keep it up with these fixtures.

Key stat- Mitrovic the Talisman

Mitrovic averages a shot every 18.1 minutes which is the highest in the league among players with more than 1000 minutes this season.

Arsenal

The next team on the list is Arsenal who have performed exceptionally well this season. They are currently the league leaders and are ahead of Man City by a margin of 5 points. With the form they were in, it is hard to look past players from their team for GW17 and onwards.

Arsenal | Fixtures: GW17-22

Arsenal has relatively good fixtures to restart the season with. They face West Ham, Brighton and Newcastle in a row, after which they go against Everton in GW22. Arsenal as a team had a high minute per chance of 6 minutes and are ranked 2nd in terms of goal conversion rate as well. Basically, they did put up the underlying numbers to back their current position.

The clear option from their defence stands to be Ben White (4.7m). He provides immense value for a player at that price. Moreover, before the PL went for a break, he delivered consistently for the past 8 Gameweeks. Other options from the defence are Saliba (5.3m) and Gabriel (5.2m) however, by saving a few bucks, White seems to be the option to go for.

As we move ahead to the midfield spot, there are yet again various options that FPL managers can choose from. Martinelli (6.8m) and Saka (8.0m) have kept the grounds running for Arsenal. They both have been immaculate so far and the double-up also seems logical. Another option available is Odegaard (6.4m) who has also scored 77 points this season. For a cheaper price, Odegaard has matched Martinelli and Saka in terms of underlying numbers and Output as seen by below numbers.

With their forward Gabriel Jesus (8.0m) out atleast for a month, the case for a double-up in midfield tends to be even stronger.

Liverpool

The last team on this list are The Reds. Liverpool, albeit having an underwhelming season so far, can manage to turn it around over the next couple of weeks. They only face Chelsea from the traditional top 6 till GW25.

Liverpool | Fixtures: GW17-22

Liverpool had decent stats over the former half of the season. They had a high Minutes per Chance and were ranked 2nd on the list for the same, and have also scored 5th highest goals in the league. They were also able to maintain a high pass success rate into the final third, thereby indicating a possible bounce back.

The defensive options from the team, Trent (7.2m) and Robertson (6.8m) don’t seem to be worth their price so far. Although their capability is well known and it’s always risky to against them, it could be worth taking the risk at this point of the season, as there are a lot of better options available at that price.

Their talisman and the Egyptian King, Mo Salah (12.8m) is an option that never leaves the minds of FPL managers. Despite the season they are having, he has still managed to pull off 82 points so far. With injuries to Jota and Diaz, Salah is expected to take more shots and occupy more central spaces. He is also fully fresh after not being involved in the World Cup.

Another option in the forward spot is Darwin Nunez (9.0m). He has shown that he is an amazing option to own when fit. Even in the friendlies, his performance has been fairly well.

Other Teams to Target for FPL Gameweek 17

Now, let’s take a look at some of the teams who are worth keeping an eye on, for the next couple of Gameweeks.

Southampton (GW18 onwards)

Southampton have a brilliant run of fixtures post-GW18. They go on to face Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Everton and Aston Villa. It could be worth keeping an eye on players like Che Adams (6.4m) and James Ward-Prowse (6.2m) in GW17 against Brighton. Even their defense could keep a few clean sheets over that run. Perraud(4.4m) has exceptional attacking numbers, in fact one of the best among defenders as seen below. He could emerge as a Budget Differential in the coming weeks!

Leicester City (GW19 onwards)

Leicester face Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Villa from GW19 onwards. Players like Castagne (4.7m), Maddison (8.2m), and Barnes (6.9m) should be on managers’ watchlist for that period. Keeping a close watch on Jamie Vardy (9.1m) for the next two games could also help go a bit different and help gain ranks at this stage of the season.

Leeds United (GW19 onwards)

Leeds also have an easy run of fixtures – West Ham, Aston Villa, Brentford, and Nottingham Forest from GW19 onwards. The only option to consider from their team is Summerville (4.4m). At this price, he could be the perfect 5th midfielder and provides great potential for a bench option as well.

Key Stat:

Summerville has 4 goals, 1 assist, 33 FPL points from the last 4 games averaging 8.25 points per game.

Summerville has a minor injury during a Friendly game. Check out the latest press conference updates close to FPL Gameweek 17 before locking him in!

Brighton (GW19 onwards)

Another such team is Brighton, which we could target from GW19 onwards. Barring Liverpool in GW20, they have an incredible run of fixtures, all the way up until GW29. Their defensive options, like Dunk (4.7m) could be worth keeping an eye on as set-and-forget options over that period. In midfield, Trossard (7.1) had put up top-drawer performances this season and looks to be a great value option over these fixtures. The budget option Pascal Gross (5.6m), could also help cover Brighton’s attack.

Conclusion

To conclude, the fixtures should be given more weightage while building your team for Gameweek 17, with a few exceptions like Haaland of course. Teams with great fixtures could perform really well to turn around their season.
