Saka vs Foden Comparison ahead of FPL GW14

Saka vs Foden- Fixtures and defensive performance of opponents

Saka vs Foden- Opponent Difficulty rating:

  • Arsenal fixture rating of xGC – 30
  • Arsenal fixture rating of GC – 28
  • Man City fixture rating of xGC – 12
  • Man City fixture rating of GC – 11

Here, a lower rating means easier opponents. Man City win the difficulty rating battle by a good margin.

Man City have a slightly better fixture than Arsenal in the coming weeks. But Arsenal are in good form lately. Especially, Arsenal’s home game against Nottm Forest is one to look out for. Nottm Forest had the 3rd highest xG conceded (19.1) and 3rd highest goals conceded team (23 goals) so far in the league. On the other hand, Man City face Leicester who conceded the 2nd most goals (24) so far this season. But Leicester seemed to be improving at their back slowly in the recent games. Man City’s GW15 game is another one where they can score big whereas Arsenal face Chelsea in that GW.

General Overview- Saka vs Foden

Let’s look at some important factors that FPL managers should keep in mind. Foden also seems to be as nailed as possible in Pep’s side. But you never know with the fixture congestion, anything can happen. Foden was benched in GW13.

Foden has 2 home games in the next 3 and the stats suggest he tends to do well in the home games which is an important factor to consider. Meanwhile, Saka is on penalty duty which is also a major factor for the FPL managers. Saka has blanked only twice in the away games so far and he has 2 away games in his next 3 till GW16.

Saka vs Foden- Stats Comparison ahead of FPL GW14

Let’s look at the stats and compare them.

Although they both had a similar number of starts in the league, Saka had 189 mins more than Foden which is a significant thing to consider. Foden scored one more goal while Saka has been a little more creative and won in the assist battle. Saka had more touches in the opponent’s penalty area than Foden. But Foden wins most of the significant per90 features.

Saka vs Foden- Last 5 games Stats

In recent games, Foden has better stats than Saka but not by much. Saka also seemed to be picking up his form lately as he scored 3 goals in the last 3 games. But they both had a poor game in GW13. The stats show their form in GW8-GW13 (They both had a blank in GW12). Saka had one more start than Foden.

The heatmaps suggest Foden was a more versatile player this season where he played in more than one position. Arteta asks Saka to play on the right side for Arsenal and cut inside more often.

Bonus Comparison (Saka between GW1-5 and GW6-12)

Saka had a slow start to the season registering three assists in the first five games during a period in which Arsenal scored 13 goals. This was mainly due to White starting at RB instead of Tomiyasu, White has since then improved very much in the RB role and made the spot his own. Since GW6 Saka has a remarkable improvement in his stats and heatmap seen below, he has scored 4 goals and 2 assists between GW6 and 12 inspite of playing Liverpool, Spurs, and Man United in 3/5 games.

Saka vs Foden- Fixture Congestion and Recovery Time from FPL GW13-GW16

We have quite a lot of games till the World Cup break so we might see some rotations. Let’s see how many recovery days Foden and Saka will have in the coming weeks

Only 2 days rest before PL games – Foden has 2, Saka has 3 (Foden will get more recovery time)

Fair to say, Man City have more squad depth than Arsenal. It’s important to keep an eye out on both of the teams to see how they operate the midweek European Competition and EFL games. Foden started in their UCL game and played around 80 mins against Dortmund. Saka did not start against PSV in the Europa League but came on in 57 mins.
