FPL GW12 Review Notes

Thursday night update-

  • Fulham outplayed Aston Villa in every department last night. Fulham generated a team xG of 2.89 which is the highest by any team this week. Mitrovic and Andreas both had an impressive game. Unlucky for the owner not to get more points out of them. Mitrovic had the highest number of big chances (3) and xG 2.03 among all players this week. Andreas had the highest xA in the team.
  • Leicester have kept two back-to-back clean sheets now. Fair to say their defensive performance is improving. Barnes took his goal well with a good finish. He had the highest xG 0.38 for them this week. Leeds had only one big chance against them. Bamford had the highest xG for his team with 0.46 where he took 2 shots.

Wednesday night games-

  • Brighton had a 2.10 team xG but somehow couldn’t score against Nottm Forest. Welbeck had the most xGi 1.44 in the team but he had a poor game overall. Trossard started as LWB and created two big chances which Lallana and Groß missed badly. Trossard also hit the woodwork early in the game. Groß was wasteful and missed two big chances (xGi of 0.82). Webster and Veltman both had two goal-scoring chances inside the penalty box but couldn’t convert.
  • Neco is the hero for so many managers this week. In the last minutes, he felt discomfort in his hamstrings but they used all their subs so couldn’t sub him off due to that. Nottm Forest had to do hard work to earn that CS. They were hardly seen in the attacks (only team xG of 0.20).
  • Zaha looked poor playing very wide in the first half but after some tactical changes made by Vieira, Zaha looked absolutely electric in the second half as if he drank some kind of potion. Took his goal with a brilliant finish and had the highest xG 0.53 for his team. Eze, Edouard and Olise all looked good in the attacks. Guehi got an unnecessary yellow for kicking the ball.
  • Bueno (£3.9) could be a new name on the watchlist if he can nail that place. Looked very involved in the attacks.
  • Salah played wide for most of the minutes. Lacked the intensity which was shown against Man City last GW. He had a couple of chances but overall looked like the GW1-10 Salah. He played more centrally after Darwin got subbed off.
  • Darwin had a good game. Took his goal brilliantly with a classic number nine header. He had an xG of 0.67 (2nd in his team). One to watch out for sure. Firmino had the highest xG of 0.84 in the game.
  • Trent played deep and rarely went forward. Alisson’s penalty save and Milner’s heroic block earned him precious CS points.
  • Bowen looked very lively until the penalty miss. Earned the penalty by himself. Soucek had the highest npxG 0.58 for West Ham.
  • Trippier makes the xA list for the 3rd time in a row with an xA of 0.35. Almiron scored a stunner and now has 4 goals in his last 4 games. Everton were hardly seen in the attacks with a team xG of only 0.06. Newcastle look solid defensively.
  • Toney had two big chances and both of them were saved by Kepa brilliantly. Toney had the highest xG of 0.88 in the game. Brentford defended well against Chelsea. Mount could’ve had an easy one-on-one with GK if Broja released the ball earlier.
  • Rashford had several big chances that Lloris pulled off great saves to keep out, but one of them at least should’ve been scored by him. He had the highest xG of 0.77 in the game. Bruno looked lively and played very well. Scored one and another one was ruled out by marginal offside.
  • Spurs didn’t look fierce at all at the Old Trafford this week against Man United. Kane had the highest xG for the team with 0.49.
  • Solanke had the highest xG (0.31) for his team this week where they lost against Southampton 1-0 at their home ground.
