After 2 lean weeks, FPL points rushed through the open floodgates in GW23 with an average score of 57 – the second highest since GW13. Foden, Watkins, Richarlison, Saka, Trippier, Palmer – almost all popular assets returned. And now, the FPL Gameweek 24 deadline is upon us – a lot happened in between. Japanese and South Korean players have returned to their clubs, and the FA Cup replays have been played. Hence, now we have a good view of the short-term (DGW25) and long-term (BGW29) windows.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL GW24 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Diogo Jota (£8.1m) – MID, Liverpool – 14.4% TSB
Since he returned from injury in GW19, Jota’s haul of 42 points is the second-highest in FPL, just behind Foden’s 48. But while Foden played 436 minutes starting all 5, Jota’s points came in 279 minutes with only 3 starts.
If we look at the last 3GWs, where Jota has started, his tally of 29 points is second only to Richarlison’s 30 with second highest Goal Involvements (4), only behind Watkins (5).
Jota looks set to make his mark with incredible fixtures both in the short and long terms:
Especially in the short term (GW24-25), Liverpool are ranked 1st in FDR with 2 home games against teams in the Bottom 3 in terms of goals conceded.
Buy Jota. He can be a shrewd differential captain too.

Elijah Adebayo (£4.9m) – FWD, Luton – 2.6% TSB
Adebayo came under the notice of FPL managers after his hattrick in GW22. However, he has been performing consistently for quite a while. So, the mega 17-point haul wasn’t a fluke.
Since GW15, among FWDs, Adebayo ranks
- 1st for goals
- 2nd for BPS
- 3rd for Goal Involvements
- 3rd for FPL points
- 3rd for Big Chances
In GW24, he faces Sheffield who are 20th for almost every single defensive metric possible:
- Clean Sheets
- Goals Conceded
- Shots Conceded
- Shots in Box Conceded
- Shots on Target Conceded
- Shots from Set Pieces Conceded
- Big Chances Conceded
- xG Conceded
- xG On Target Conceded
Even if you look beyond GW24, Luton will have 2 DGWs – DGW25 and DGW28 along with a juicy fixture against NFO at home in GW29.
Note: Luton vs Nottingham Forest will only be a confirmed fixture in GW29 if Luton lose to Man City and Forest lose to Man United in the FA Cup 5th round which will be played between GW26 and GW27. (Impact of FA Cup Results on FPL Blank Gameweek 29)
Adebayo is cheap and can open up funds for the returning big guns like KDB, Haaland, Son and Salah; while not being just a bench fodder.

FPL GW24 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Dominic Solanke (£7.1m) – FWD, Bournemouth – 25.7% TSB
Solanke is the most transferred-out FWD right now.
Bournemouth has a dream run of fixtures till GW32 including a DGW28 against SHU (H) and LUT (H). Did someone say “Let’s save the TC chip”?
Solanke ranks (among FWDs)
- 1st for Shots in the Box
- 2nd for goals
- 2nd for Shots
- 2nd for xG
- 2nd for xGNP
- 4th for Bonus Points
- 5th for xG Open Play
- 5th for xGI
- 5th for BPS
- 5th for FPL points
Solanke face Fulham this GW, a team that has kept only 1 Clean Sheet since mid-December. So HOLD Solanke.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) – DEF, Liverpool – 21.4% TSB
Trent Alexander-Arnold is the most transferred-out Liverpool asset after an injured Salah and Darwin. While the cases for transferring out Salah and Darwin are strong (injury and inconsistency), selling Trent might be a costly mistake.
Trent can wreak havoc in these 3 fixtures at both ends of the field.
Liverpool as a defensive unit is ranked in the Top 3 for: –
- Goals conceded – 1st
- Clean Sheets – 1st
- xG On Target conceded – 2nd
- xG conceded – 3rd
- xGNP conceded – 3rd
- Shots in Box conceded – 3rd
- Shots on Target conceded – 3rd
Liverpool as an attacking unit is ranked in the Top 3 for: –
- xG – 1st
- xGNP – 1st
- xG Open Play – 1st
- Shots – 1st
- Shots in the Box – 1st
- Shots on Target – 2nd
- Big Chances – 2nd
- Goals – 2nd
So I would recommend you to hold Trent.

FPL GW 24 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Matty Cash (£4.6m) – DEF, Aston Villa – 15.6% TSB
With just 1 return since GW8 (that too courtesy of an early substitution, after which Villa conceded), it’s safe to say Matty Cash has failed to live up to the hype he created after his monster 17-pointer in GW3.
Villa faces a rejuvenated Man Utd squad that has scored 9 goals in the last 3 matches. In the reverse fixture, Utd scored 3 goals and Cash returned just 1 point.
Although the fixtures for Villa are not too bad, Villa’s defence has not been the usual watertight one which we know. Only 2 Clean Sheets (against relegation contenders Everton and Sheffield) in the last 7 games hardly instils any sort of confidence. On top of that Konsa’s injury can have a telling impact on the AVL defence.
Hence it is better to sell Cash for cash (sorry couldn’t control the pun😊)
Martin Ødegaard (£8.4m) – MID, Arsenal – 15.2% TSB
24 points in his last 8 games – is not what you expect your 8.4m asset to deliver.
To put things into perspective, 80 players scored more than the Gunners captain during this period, including Hwang Hee-chan and Hwang has not played the last 3 games.
Just like Aston Villa, Arsenal fixtures are also good. However, £8.4m is a hefty price to waste. There are better options like Foden, Jota, Saka in that price range..
So sell Ødegaard
