FPL GW6 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd

FPL GW6 Captaincy poll

Haaland once again tops the voting in the Gameweek 6 FPL Captaincy poll and it isn’t a surprise after scoring back-to-back hattricks. Salah is closely second with 33% of the votes, and Kane is interestingly third with around 7% of the votes. KDB who was rested against Forest and guaranteed to play this week is fourth in the voting. Gabriel Jesus was back amongst the goals against Villa but is only fifth in the poll due to the Man United fixture. The five players going into the metrics are Salah, Haaland, Kane, KDB, and Jesus.

Man City attack was always going to dominate but what is more interesting is the numbers Arsenal’s attack is putting, they have the most shots inside the box and have the second-best xG of 10.55 which is not so far from Man City’s xG of 11.83. Liverpool are also not very behind Arsenal with an xG of 9.47. Spurs are however last compared to the other three teams in the table with an xG of 7.28.

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW6

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW6

The fixture difficulty based on odds is a bit tight with three teams close to each other. Aston Villa’s poor form and Man City’s terrifying attack means they are top again with a 90% odds of at least one goal and 48% odds of 2+ goals. Salah is closely second with an 89% odds of at least one goal and 44% chance of 2+ goals vs Everton. Kane is again not far behind Salah with an 87% odds of one goal vs Spurs and 40% odds of 2+ goals vs Fulham. The big game for Arsenal against Man United means they have a 75% chance of at least one goal and 20% odds of 2+ goals which aren’t bad but not up to the big numbers of the other three teams.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 6 Captain Picks

If you were expecting Haaland to top this table, you’ll be disappointed with Kane and Salah shaking things up here. Kane had a 75% chance of anytime returns and a points projection of 8.3, whereas Salah is really close to Kane with a 71% chance of anytime returns and a points projection of 8.2. KDB and Haaland coming only joint third mainly due to expected minutes(xMins) with KDB having a 54% chance of anytime returns and a points projection of 5.8 whereas Haaland has an anytime returns of 57% and a points projection of 5.4(Last week Haaland had a projection of 7.4 points, a drop of 2 points). Jesus due to his fixture difficulty is last with a 48% chance of anytime returns and a points projection of 4.8.

Conclusion - Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 6 Captaincy metric analysis

Haaland once again tops the metrics and it isn’t a surprise with his strong showing(9 goals in 5 games). However, unlike last week his cumulative rank factor isn’t 4 and this time his CRF is 6. KDB is second with a CRF of 10, which is interesting as he’s guaranteed to start against Villa. Kane and Salah are joint third with a CRF of 13, Kane and Salah have good projections and are pretty close to City in the fixture difficult table so they are certainly not bad options. Jesus is last with a CRF of 15 as his projections and fixture difficulty aren’t at similar levels due to the Man United fixture.

PS: The player with the lowest CRF(Cumulative Rank Factor) is the best captain according to our metrics!

Some interesting Pep Quotes to predict Haaland xMins

Pep Guardiola on managing Erling Haaland’s game time: “He’s 22. Recovers well. When he’s 32, more difficult. 22, not a problem.” [via @_joebray]

Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland: “One month ago he was a disaster because of what happened in the Community Shield. Now, he’s going to break everything…” both quotes via @City_Xtra

All these quotes from Pep strongly indicate a Haaland start. But Pep could do a Pep, nobody ever knows!
