In this blog our star writer FPL Ragnar who finished the 2020/21 FPL Season in the Top 10K(6672) shares a list of nine players who have never left a single draft that he has made so far ahead of the 2021/22 FPL Season and justifies the decision as well. So what are you waiting for, let’s jump in and see who are his nailed picks!
1. Robert Sanchez
To start off we have a player that has been template since the price reveals. At 4.5 we realistically only have 2 options, Bachman and Sanchez, and the latest plays for a way better defence with better fixtures.
I see some managers almost getting bored of looking at him in their teams and trying to find different and even more expensive keepers! I want to spend as little as possible in this position, I’d rather have my money playing further up the field so, at his price, Sanchez is the standout option for me. Ben White’s departure won’t, in my opinion, affect Brighton’s clean sheet potential since I find them to be more of a system-based team. Don’t overthink it, boring doesn’t mean bad!

2 . Trent Alexander Arnold/Robertson
Another template and obvious selection, one of the two Liverpool fullbacks have been in all of my drafts since the launch of the game. We all know their potential, not a lot of explanations are needed here. Defenders that are basically midfielders and get clean sheet points. A double-up in my eyes isn’t warranted since VVD just came back from a long-term injury and might take some time to impact the team as we want him to.
Given the choice of the two,I prefer TAA. They are both really good and consistent but I think Trent has a different quality and higher ceiling that Robertson just doesn’t reach. However, there is 0.5 million between them so if you are really struggling for money I wouldn’t completely exclude just going for Robertson and hope TAA doesn´t find those extra gears soon.

3. Matt Targett
Villa’s three opening fixtures hardly could get better, with clean sheet potential in all of them. If the team maintains their defensive solidity of last season (I see no reason why they wouldn’t) they will once again be regulars in our teams. From all Villa’s defender options I prefer Targett since he is the nailed left-back and provides some attacking potential.

4. Emile Smith Rowe
The Croydon De Bruyne just signed a contract that will see him playing in the Emirates until 2024. He was also given the number 10 shirt. This is symbolic to me. It’s a statement and a confirmation of our initial thoughts, ESR will play a big role in the gunners this season.
With no European competitions this season, Arteta’s men are looking to have a good league campaign and I think they will do just that. From an FPL point of view Arsenal’s new number 10 is a cheeky differential pick for the opening game and has an amazing run from GW 4 to 13 that sees him play Norwich, Crystal Palace, Watford and Newcastle at home. He is also at a good price point that if things don’t go as planned offers a lot of good options like Sarr, Harrison, Mbeumo, and Raphinha.

5. Bruno Fernandes
Sancho’s arrival made a lot of people question Bruno’s presence in their drafts. I, on the other hand, was just more sure of his place in my team, it just makes Bruno a better option. The price gap between the both is huge but Bruno is the talisman of the team, the team’s main creator, and on pens. We all know Bruno’s prolific fantasy history and nothing has changed enough for me to question him. Don’t overthink it,put the “Portuguese Magnifico” in your team!

6. Mohamed Salah
Once again, not a lot of words are needed to justify why you should have the Egyptian King in your team. One of the best ever FPL assets and Liverpool’s main man. I like his fixtures and I expect the Reds to continue their upturn in form of the end of last season, especially now with Anfield welcoming again Klopp´s precious 12 th man.

7. Kai Havertz
Maybe a bit of a shock for some of you to see the German wonderkid in this list but it’s true! I really like Chelsea’s opening game versus Palace, I see the potential of a big win against a team with a lot of new and inexperienced faces, including the manager. In one of Vieira’s recent interviews, he promised the fans a more open and attacking style of play and I’m absolutely all for it, especially if it means more points for Havertz.
If Chelsea doesn´t sign a new striker, Kai could possibly play up top and he offers a possible route to Mahrez in GW 2 against Norwich.

8. Oliver Watkins
Even if Grealish leaves for City I will still back Watkins to improve his good form from last season and cement himself as a top premier league striker. As of now, he is playing with Grealish and Buendia behind him. He’ll be Villa’s focal point for goals and for points, I hope! Good opening fixtures and at a good price point, what more do you want?

9. Dominic Calvert Lewin
He is probably the player closest to my chopping list. Siggurdson’s situation, James’ injury record, and transfer rumors plus the fact that Richarlison will still be in the Olympic Games makes me question DCL’s potential creative service. His opening run is just too good though and Benitez’s style of play has a record of improving the striker’s goalscoring records. Despite Everton’s problems, I think DCL will stay in my draft!
