FPL Tools – All that you need to know about Fantasy Football Fix

This blog is part of a series of posts on the Best FPL tools that are available for FPL Managers. The series is written by popular FPL Community figure, FPL Tool collector. You can follow him on twitter@or_fail.

Fantasy Football Fix (Fix for short) is a one-stop-shop for #FPL enthusiasts. A part of the tools is part of a premium subscription package. As I focus on the tools available to FPL managers for free, I will only look at the free tools here.

The free tools on Fantasy Football Fix are luckily also many and in my view very user friendly.

So here I will focus on

  • Dugout on Fantasy Football Fix
  • Assistant Manager on Fantasy Football Fix
  • Price Change Stats on Fantasy Football Fix
  • Gameweek Live on Fantasy Football Fix

Let’s dive in…

Dugout on Fantasy Football Fix

Fantasy Football Fix Dugout
The Dugout

The Dugout is the starting point when you log in to Fantasy Football Fix. It is like a dugout should be giving the most important info and then you dig deeper from there. You can see your team and get quick overviews of price development, form, fixtures, and Fix’s estimate for coming performance.

Depending on which of these options you choose – the most important part is highlighted to the right of your team.

In the top of the Dugout, you also get some additional data on the fastest price risers, and Fix suggests a transfer for you. These boxes also have links to the other menu items.

Assistant Manager on Fantasy Football Fix

The Assistant Manager is basing its predictions on the Fix algorithm. I don’t know much about algorithms and statistical science but for me, it is with this as for xG, xA, xGI, xGA etc. Lots of data help as indicators for future performance but this is football so anything can happen.

So personally I use it as inspiration. When Fix predicts a certain player to be among the highest-scoring for the next couple of Gameweeks, then I might give him a closer look.

In the inserted picture you see the options you can fiddle with. And then the list of players that Fix expects to score most. The view can be made both for positions and clubs. The manager also gives a suggestion as to who to play and bench for the next 5 weeks. You can also ask Fix to suggest transfers for you, but again remember it is your team 😉 So many good hints and helpers, but your team – your decisions!

Price Change Stats on Fantasy Football Fix

PPrice Changes

Points beats Team Value, but cash is nice to have.

The Price Predictor is one of the two price predictor tools I know of, and it is amazing how much they can disagree at times, so as with many other tools you will probably find your favorite. Fix was the first I used so this is where I stay for now.

Just remember not to take it too seriously close to a deadline or during a game week where the progress per hour goes ballistic. And as the model just works from there many players are projected to rise or fall “tonight”. So take it easy and remember cup matches, internationals, and Covid-19 dangers.

On the tab for recent changes you can see the precision of the predictions.

The other menu item for Price Change Stats has an overview of Transfer Activity. Sometimes there are some interesting patterns – but personally, this is not one of the features I use often, so have a look and see if it is for you.

Gameweek Live on Fantasy Football Fix

Live Score on Fantasy Football Fix
Live Score

The last of the free options is the Gameweek Live score where you can see the score for your team including bonus points. There is also a live tracker showing info from all ongoing matches as well as your predicted rank and how many players have been in action for other FPL managers.

When I started looking at tools this was unique. Fantasy Football Fix was, to my knowledge, the first service that provided such a cool feature and I almost spent more time on this than actually watching the games. That was of course also pre-covid so there could be 4-5-6 games played at the same time (yes…it’s true).

Now however there are many services out there. And as the feature of following your competitors is a premium feature, I have stopped using Fix for Live Gameweek coverage. I am however still happy for the good times we’ve had 😉

Conclusion on Fantasy Football Fix

As said in the intro, Fix is a one stop shop for FPL managers. If you don’t like having a lot of tabs open and go here and there, the most basic needs can be covered in Fix and also without getting a Premium subscription. The assistant manager is excellent for inspiration and very easy to use.

I sometimes find great comfort in seeing the algorithm predict that I will score +60 points. But of course, these dreams all too often get crushed by the merciless truth that my team for the most part is sh…I check the price predictions often and especially during Wild Cards to boost team value…and we have all been there, being just 0,1 short of the dream transfer :-)So even though the competition on FPL tools has increased there is still a great value at Fantasy Football Fix.

Danish FPL player since 2007/2008 season. It all started with three colleagues and we have been fighting it out in the same mini-league ever since. The first prize is to choose a game that we travel to England to see, so it is serious business as we all support different teams 😉 The last two seasons I have found myself in the Twitterverse as part of the #FPLCommunity and enjoy the interaction and banter. For some reason I started collecting links to various tools in my bookmarks and decided to share all my links and what I believe they are useful for. If you find new ones I am all ears.
