ALLABOUTFPL Top Five GW 8 Captain picks:

1. Werner vs Sheffield (H) TSB 21.2%

Werner FPL GW 8 Captain pick
Good form and on penalties as well!

Chelsea’s German striker has shown signs of settling down at the club and integrating well with the rest of the team. Of late, he’s finding himself frequently involved in goals, scoring 3 and assisting 2 in 7 games. With the return of Hakim Ziyech, he’ll surely get more service and will look to punish a sub-par Sheffield.

He scored 2 penalties against Rennes midweek in the Champions league is comforted to be the main penalty taker over Jorginho in the team by Coach Frank Lampard. Chelsea are one of the highest scoring teams this season and Sheffield haven’t been the defensive stronghold they were last season around. Expect Werner and Co to wreck some havoc come FPL GW 8.

Werner stat attack:

  • Sheffield have conceded 100 shots on goal (fourth worst) and 15 big chances so far this season(fifth worst). Expect this trend to continue.
  • Werner has the second most penalty box touches (41) amongst forwards this season.

2. Son vs West Brom (A) TSB 59.1%

Son FPL GW 8 Captain pick
Spurs have scored the most goals (18) this season and are against the team that have conceded the most (16) so far this season.

Son is owned by a whopping 59% of all the people playing FPL and has been in the form of his life. He’s the highest scoring midfielder and tied with his spurs counterpart Harry Kane for most points of 71. He has scored 8 and assisted 2 in 7 games and is leading the scoring charts with Calvert Lewin.

He has a goal involvement every 55 minutes! West Brom have been very poor in defence and have conceded the most goals this season. Spurs sit 3rd in the table having scored the most goals by a team this season and Jose Mourinho’s men will look to take this opportunity to go second. Son is almost a no brainer captain choice along with Kane but the potential 1 extra point for Goal and for CS looks attractive and sides the scale to his side.

Son in numbers:

  • Spurs have had 24 big chances (2nd most) so far this season out of which son has got eight big chances.
  • West Brom have conceded the most number of big chances (17) in the premier league so far this season and have the worst xGC (13.62) and the most goals conceded.
  • Son has recorded an higher NPxG than Kane this campaign and has been rested from the mid week europa game.

3. Mane vs Man City (A) TSB 9.7%

Sadio Mane FPL GW 8 captain pick
Sadio is a big game player

It’s bonkers that a player like Mane is a differential option. He’s started out slower than Salah, but the team is ever so reliant on him and that showed in their CL outing as he was involved in goals. He’s scored 4 and assisted 2 in 6 games that he featured and is picking up form. Mane has been excellent forever against big teams and especially against Manchester City. Liverpool put 5 past Atalanta and city have not started out well this season too, as they sit 10 with 1 game in their hand. Expect Mane to score and get involved among the goals.

Mane in numbers:

  • Liverpool have recorded the most shots on goal (123), shots inside box (80), shots on target(43), big chances(25), xG(17.48) this season, scoring 17 goals in the process.
  • Mane has got eight big chances so far this season the highest for a liverpool player and third most in premier league.
  • 50 touches in the penalty box for Mane only three players have registered more.
  • City have conceded more chances and crosses from the left flank compared to the right something which mane will look to exploit!

4. Dominic Calvert Lewin vs Manchester United (A) TSB 56.4%

DCL FPL GW 8 Captain pick
Mr. Consistent

This man has been a whole different animal this season. He’s tied with Son for most goals scored with 8 and has failed to score in just 1 game. Everton have suffered recently with James getting injured and Richarlison suspended but DCL is still returning. He’ll also take a bunch of Bonus points considering other players who usually share them will not feature and manchester united have looked bad having lost to both Arsenal and their UCL fixture midweek.

Carlo and his men will look to bounce back to winning ways and inflict further pain for ole and his men. Lucas Digne returning for Everton is a big boost as well as he’s an excellent crosser which will further increase the chances of DCL returning against United.

DCL in numbers:

  • Second most big chances in the league so far this season with 9.
  • Second highest header attempts (8) and most headed goals (4).
  • Manchester United have conceded 16 big chances only WBA, Fulham and Leeds have conceded more.

5. Callum Wilson (A) vs Southampton TSB 13.8%

FPL GW 8 Captain pick
It’s hard to ignore this man

A close differential option, Wilson has found his feet with the Magpies and is back to his scoring potential and has scored more FPL points than DCL! Southampton are in top 5 but have conceded 12 goals and it’s an indication of a potentially leaky defence. Wilson has scored 6 and further assisted 2 and is involved in 8 of Newcastle’s 10 goals in the league. There’s no more evidence required to understand that their goals flow through him and he’ll be a good choice to bank on.

Wilson in numbers:

  • Most bonus points (10) so far this season. iF newcastle score he’ll be mostly involved and take home the maximum bonus.
  • Third highest scoring forward with 53 points only behind kane (71) and Vardy (55). One point more than DCL!
  • Second most big chances(9) in the premier league so far this season. only vardy (10) has has more big chances.
