FPL Gameweek 11 Premium pick – Jamie Vardy (10.8m)
Name | xG per 90 | xA per 90 | Shots in the box per 90 | Shots on target per 90 | Big chances per 90 | Expected points (next game) |
Jamie Vardy | 0.41 | 0.08 | 2.34 | 1.17 | 0.74 | 5.1 |
Jamie Vardy is a player who is being surprisingly sold more than being bought prior to Gameweek 11. The frustration of owners comes from his consecutive blanks against Brentford and Arsenal where he failed to match the expectations of FPL managers. However, selling him before Leicester’s game against Leeds might not be the best moment to do that as there are not many better options from the forwards in this particular gameweek. Bielsa and his squad are currently underperforming and have only managed to keep 1 clean sheet this season. Leeds continue to look shaky at the back and if there is one player from the Foxes who can capitalise from their poor form, that is Jamie Vardy.
Although he hasn’t been creating as much chances as other forwards, his main contribution comes from goals and he has been able to score 7 in 10 games this season. xG of 0.41 is decent especially if you consider the fact that he has taken the second most shots in the box from all of the forwards in the league (22). Leeds have struggled in the past to keep up with mobile and explosive strikers who can exploit the free spaces by being the focal point of a fast offensive transition. Jamie Vardy fits in this player profile and it is likely that he will be involved in the attacking returns of his team as half of the goals scored this season by Leicester City have come from his contributions.

FPL Gameweek 11 Budget Pick – Bryan Mbeumo (5.6m)
Name | xG per 90 | xA per 90 | Shots in the box per 90 | Shots on target per 90 | Big chances per 90 | Expected points (next game) |
Bryan Mbeumo | 0.39 | 0.05 | 1.70 | 0.49 | 0.61 | 3.9 |
Mbeumo has been one of the players from the newly-promoted Brentford side who has caught the eye of many FPL managers. He has scored 2 goals during his first Premier League campaign and with favourable fixtures incoming many are looking to bring him in. One of the biggest advantages of owning Mbeumo is his price – for 5.6m he offers so much attacking threat that he can definitely be considered a value pick who will surely perform above his price bracket, especially in the next few weeks.
Despite not being an impressive creative force based on his xA, Mbeumo has demonstrated solid goalscoring potential and it is about time this translates to more FPL points. He is currently underperforming based on his xG, so from statistical standpoint you should expect an increase to his attacking returns. Mainly compared to Toney who is the other Brentford player heavily transferred in prior to this gameweek, Mbeumo has been in the centre of a recently appeared debate in the FPL Community: should you go for double Brentford attack? The heat map suggests that Mbeumo has been playing further forward and Toney is dropping deep and supplying him with through balls. If you want only one of them and the double up seems too risky for you, Mbeumo is the sensible pick as he is cheaper and offers more in attack.
Mbeumo has been extremely unlucky this season, hitting the woodwork more times than any other player in the league (6). A home game against Norwich is a perfect opportunity for him to end his bad luck as Norwich are widely regarded as the worst team in the league and the one to target at the moment. They have conceded 25 goals in 10 games which is the most out of any side in the league, a reason to already be considered as the whipping boys of this season.

FPL Gameweek 11 Defender pick – Reece James (5.8m)
Name | xG per 90 | xA per 90 | Shots in the box per 90 | Shots on target per 90 | Big chances created per 90 | Expected points (next game) |
Reece James | 0.22 | 0.31 | 1.30 | 1.08 | 0.43 | 4.4 |
Reece James has been absolutely brilliant after coming back from his ankle injury, scoring 3 goals in the last 2 games. Despite the doubts over his playing time as a result of Tuchel’s unpredictable rotation, he has been able to find his rhythm and has earned his starting wing-back spot over Hudson-Odoi and Azpilicueta. Unless we see some disappointing performances from James, his minutes should not be seen as a huge problem anymore even if he gets a rest in the Premier League at some point. This particular gameweek however there is almost no danger of this happening as he did not feature in the Chelsea’s UCL game against Malmo on Tuesday.
4 goals and 2 assist in 4 starts is an incredible stat line for a defender and it is difficult to ignore a player in such an outstanding form. He poses a major attacking threat which is also illustrated on his heatmap where we can see how the wing-back dictates the attacking width of the team. With such an impressive xG + xA potential there is a high chance of him registering an attacking return against a struggling Burnley side who are currently in the relegation zone. With 2.45 key passes per 90, James will have the freedom to create many opportunities for his teammates against the cautious opposition this week who will sit deep and allow him to get further forward without pressuring him significantly on the defensive end.
Chelsea seem to have the best or at least the second best defence in the league at the moment and facing Burnley at home is a great opportunity for them to increase their total number of clean sheets which is the highest in the league – 7 in 10 games.
Conclusion
