FPL GW20 Scout Picks

FPL GW20 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

FPL GW20 Scout Picks - Goalkeeper

Burnley have been really poor in front of goal this season. In fact over the last 5 games they have scored only 3 goals and are ranked 20th in the league for Goals scored, xG/90, Big Chances/90 during this period. There is a potential clean sheet coming for Villa and Martinez who are good at home.

Martinez is a good GK pick for this week and beyond as well. Villa’s fixtures look really in the longer run as well and he can be your set and forget keeper in a season where finding the correct GK has been really difficult.

Alexander Arnold is slowly becoming a must own player in FPL these days. Since GW12, TAA has 66 points from 8 game averaging more than 8 points per game. He has been the Highest scoring player in the game with 66 points during this time with Salah second on the list with 55 points. It’s not at all too late to get TAA in your teams if you still have not got him!

Trent Alexander Arnold Stats since GW12:

  • Big Chances Created- 9(1st among all players)
  • Chances Created- 30(Joint 1st)
  • Goal Involvements- 5(Joint 1st among Defenders)
  • FPL Points- 66(1st)

Kyle Walker is the next pick. Manchester City have kept only one clean sheet from the last 12 games and have somehow found ways to concede goals even though their underlying numbers are good. During this time- City have the 2nd best xGC, conceded the 2nd least Big Chances during this period.

With a better run of fixtures and City also having a Double Gameweek to be rescheduled, Walker can be a good option. Walker has played 90 minutes in all the league games this season and should be the safest City bet.

Gabriel rounds up the Scout Picks defense who is up against Fulham. Fulham have not managed to score a goal in the last 3 games and this could be continue against a Arsenal side who have elite defensive numbers this season- Least Big Chances conceded(24), Best xGC(15.5), 2nd Least Goals conceded(18) and Joint Top for Clean Sheets(7).

FPL GW20 Scout Picks – Midfielders

FPL GW20 Scout Picks - Midfielders

Salah is a no-brainer pick in the Scout picks for FPL GW20. Salah is the highest-scoring FPL asset with 140 points(12 goals and 7 assists), his xGI of 15.7 is the highest amongst all midfielders so far this season. Newcastle are also winless in their last 7 away games in all competitions(6 losses and one draw)

In the last six matches, Newcastle are 5th for most chances conceded(26) through their right flank which gives Salah a great matchup!

Martin Odegaard has been unlucky over the last few games to have not returned from an FPL perspective. Since GW13 Odegaard’s xGI of 4.1 is the 3rd highest amongst all midfielders!

Odegaard(Number 8) average position and heatmap vs West Ham

Even against West Ham, he was taking attacking positions and creating a lot of chances. Odegaard vs West Ham – 6 chances created, xGI of 1.10, and one big chance created.

Odegaard has a great matchup in GW20 with Fulham conceding 24 chances through the middle in the last six games which is the 4th highest amongst all teams during the period.

Just like Salah, Son is also a no-brainer pick in the scout selection this week, the Spurs attacker has 16 goal contributions this season which is the 2nd highest in the league. Over the last five games, Spurs are top for goals scored(11) and their xG during the period(10.98) which is the 2nd highest in the league and shows how good the Spurs team is from an attacking perspective.

Phil Foden played in a midfield/central position in GW19 vs Everton and did put in a brilliant performance. Foden did dictate the entire play and could have had more than a goal. Foden playing a midfield role is better for both Manchester City and also his attack potential as seen below. He is expected to play in Midfield again in GW20 vs Sheffield United where City are again expected to have plenty of possession.

Foden Heat map vs Everton in GW19:

Phil Foden Stats playing in different positions via LNobbins:

Bowen has 11 goals, 2 assists from 19 games this season. His 13 Goal Involvements is only bettered by Son(16) and Salah(19) this season among midfielders. At 7.9 million he is a value for money pick and would soon be a template pick after Son and Salah leave for AFCON. Brighton have not kept a clean sheet this season and GW20 might be an ideal time to get in Bowen.

  • Goals- Joint 2nd
  • FPL Points- 3rd

Even though Watkins has only 1 goal involvement in the last 5 games, Watkins is a good pick for GW20 and beyond with excellent fixtures coming up. Watkins has 9 goals, 9 FPL assists, 112 points from 19 games this season which are excellent numbers and should get back his form with the upcoming fixture run- Burnley(H), Everton(A), Newcastle(H), Sheffield United(A) in the next 4 games.

Julian Alvarez has played as a striker in the absence of Erling Haaland who is again ruled out for GW20. In these 3 games which Alvarez has played as a striker his underlying numbers are really good.

Alvarez playing as a striker(since GW16):

  • Matches- 3
  • Big Chances Involvements- 6(4 Big Chances, 2 Big Chances created)
  • xGI- 2.7(3rd Highest among all players in the league despite playing a game less)

He was unlucky not to haul big against Everton in GW19. Alvarez is up against a Sheffield United side in GW20 who have conceded 47 goals this season which is the Highest among all the teams in the league by a big margin. Sheffield United are ranked 19th for xGC and Big Chances conceded as well.
