2023/24 FPL Season ~ Best GW1 FPL Drafts
FPL GW1 Draft 1:
Structure of the draft: 4-4-2 | Budget: 100 Million |
Notes on the draft:
- A balanced draft with good assets in all positions
- Johnstone was great since he became the first choice under Roy Hodgson towards the end of last season and has good value at 4.5 Million.
- TAA looked really good in the inverted full-back position playing like a midfielder getting 7 assists, and 1 goal from the last 10 games of the season. If he can continue to play in that position, TAA is well worth the money with set pieces in his armory as well.
- Estupinian registered 1 goal, 7 assists, and 10 clean sheets which saw him fetch 128 points last season. He is a good option in the 5.0 million bracket especially with their good fixtures.
- Rashford and Martinelli were excellent last season and come in at 9.0 Million and 8.0 Million respectively. Rashford did have a sensational season getting 17 goals, 7 assists, and 205 points last season.
- The good thing is that Mbuemo is listed as a midfielder in the game. With Toney not there, Mbuemo will be taking up little more advanced positions than usual almost playing like a OOP Forward. In the 5 games Toney missed last season, Mbuemo got 5 goals and 2 assists!
- Foden is the risky pick in the draft, although he was not a regular starter last season it is expected that he’ll feature more this time around. At only 7.5 Million he’s a great option to consider especially knowing that KDB will miss the initial part of the season.
- Mitoma at 6.5 Million offers good value, he was one of the standout stars from Brighton last season and could be in for another good season.
- Even though Haaland is priced at £14.0, it is really difficult to ignore him due to the insane numbers from last season- 36 goals, 9 assists from 35 games. City’s opening run of fixtures makes Haaland an almost must-own asset.
- Nkunku is the 2nd striker, the new Chelsea signing was excellent in his previous club and was their talisman. Bit of a gamble to start with him, you can also look to save 0.5 somewhere and get Jesus who is 8.0 million.
Potential cons of the draft:
- No Salah or Kane in this draft
- Two options that could backfire: Nkunku and Foden

FPL GW1 Draft 2:
Structure of the draft: Two Premiums (4-4-2) | Budget: 100 Million |
Pros of the draft:
- The draft has both Salah and Haaland along with Rashford.
- Eze did finish last season on a high. He looked so good under Roy Hodgson who is set to continue as the Palace manager. In fact, Only Salah(85) got more FPL points than Eze(67) among FPL Midfielders from GW29 till the end of the season. This has pushed the price of Eze to 6.5 which is still a good price point for a in-form talisman.
- Salah and Rashford along with Martinelli mean you have three of the last season’s top five scoring midfielders.
- Areola has the potential to be a playing 4.0 million goalkeeper if Moyes decides to replace Fabianski!
Potential cons of the draft:
- No Trent Alexander Arnold and Saka in the draft

FPL GW1 Draft 3:
Structure of the draft: Threemium | Budget: 100 Million |
Notes on the draft:
- Botman should be one of the best budget picks in the game. Newcastle conceded the least goals(33) in the league last season. A starting defender at just 4.5 million is an absolute steal!
- Leno was an under-rated FPL asset last season ranking 2nd among Goal Keepers for Saves last season.
- James/Chilwell can be decided based on pre-season.
Cons of the draft:
- Weak bench- Anderson, Bell, Sims. If a few more 4.5 mids options emerge, it can be better.
- Captaincy Headache- If you are going to captain Haaland in most weeks it is worth asking the question if you still want both Kane and Salah when you are not going to captain them.
- Difficult to switch to a 8.0-9.5 million midfielder due to this structure. Blocks players like Odegaard, Rashford, Saka and Bruno. Would need multiple transfers to change the structure.
Pros of the draft:
- Threemium set and forget- Consistent performers
- Can rotate the 6.5 midfielder slot based on fixtures

FPL GW1 Draft 4:
Structure of the draft: Two Premiums | Budget: 100 Million
Pros of the draft:
- Good cover all around in the starting lineup
- Strong midfield and strong at the back
Potential cons of the draft:
- No Liverpool players
- No proper bench cover
FPL GW1 Draft 5
Structure of the draft: Two Premiums + TAA | Budget: 100 Million
Pros of the draft:
- Kane and Haaland plus TAA together in this draft
- Bruno and Saka as the premium midfielders
- You can also get Mbeumo/Eze(6.5 Million) for Mitoma and switch Andreas to Encisio(5.5 Million)
- Steele could be switched to new Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen
- Chilwell from the Chelsea defence who have good games after the opening GW vs Liverpool. If you want to go save in defense, Chilwell can be downgraded to Gabriel and the money can be used to upgrade Bruno to Son who can be a good differential.
- Mings and Botman rotate well, more on the rotation: FPL Rotational Pairs & Combinations for the 2023/24 FPL Season
Potential cons of the draft:
- Heavy hitting draft and you need to nail the right budget players correctly for this setup to work
