2023/24 Premier League Fixture Analysis Team Wise:
Manchester City
- Home games: 3/8
- Away games: 5/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 2/8
Manchester City have arguably best fixtures among the Top 6 teams. Haaland is the no-brainer captaincy choice for the first 5/6 games barring the Newcastle game. But these fixtures really tempt a City Triple up- Best Attacking side and Best Defensive side in the league last season in terms of underlying data. City play Burnley, Sheffield, Fulham, Forest, Wolves in 5 off their first 8 games. Which City midfielder is the most trickiest question to answer with Gundogan, Bernando Silva, Mahrez all linked to other clubs. Pre-season friendlies should give us an idea.
Kevin De Bruyne could be a cheeky Premium Differential pick if we are able to afford Three Premium(Haaland, Salah and KDB) and Kane leaves England.
Arsenal
- Home games: 5/8
- Away games: 3/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 0/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Despite not playing any newly promoted side in the first 8 games, Thier fixtures look good on paper. Their 3 tough games in the first 8(United, Spurs and City) are all home games too. Arteta’s Arsenal will look to begin like last season where they won their first 5 games scoring 13 goals.
The midfield trio of Odegaard, Saka and Martinelli will all be priced higher after their brilliant season. All 3 finished in the Top 5 among Midfielders for FPL points. Even with higher prices, a double up on attack over a defender is a great shout.
Manchester United
- Home games: 5/8
- Away games: 3/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Slightly tricky run of games as United face Tottenham and Arsenal(A) in the first four and then Brighton in GW5. Rashford and Bruno Fernandes could still be great options based on pre- season and prices. From GW6- GW13, They have a great run of fixtures facing only one game(City in GW10) vs Last season Top 8.
Tip: Shaw is an excellent option from GW6. He can be a great option from the beginning if you can bench him for GW2, GW4, GW5. Shaw rotates well with Luton defenders as they have decent games in GW2(Burnley(H)), GW3(West Ham(H)) and GW4(Fulham(A)). 4.0 million defender enabler from Luton can be a good move if you are planning on Luke Shaw.
Newcastle United
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 4/8
A hard-avoid at the start of the season mainly due to the tough fixtures. Villa, City, Liverpool, Brighton, Brentford in the first five is not for good viewing. Wait and Watch how they perform before picking them for their favorable fixture run from GW6. Between GW6- GW10, Newcastle do not have a game against last season Top 10 and face 2 promoted sides as well.
Liverpool
- Home games: 3/8
- Away games: 5/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 0/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 4/8
Four out of the first 8 games for Liverpool are against Last season Top 8 teams which makes things tricky. Salah is always fixture proof and also tends to start a season really well. Other than Salah, TAA is a good shout as you can expect attacking returns from him irrespective of fixture. Getting TAA might be little difficult due to the pricing and team structure.
Brighton
- Home games: 5/8
- Away games: 3/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 4/8
First things first, Don’t expect Brighton attackers like Mitoma, Enciso, Ferguson to be priced very lowly. They will be surely priced more than last season. Brighton have 3 good games to start the season and then play Newcastle, Man United, Villa and Liverpool in 4 out of the next 5 games. Last season De Zebri’s team proved that they are fixture proof attack wise and are capable of scoring goals every week.
Aston Villa
- Home games: 3/8
- Away games: 5/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Aston Villa players could be a wait and watch at the start of the season. They face Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton in 4 out of the first 7 games. Along with this, Villa will have 2 midweek games between GW2-GW3 and GW3-GW4 as they are involved in Europa Conference League playoffs. It remains to be seen how they cope up with midweek games in terms of fatigue.
Villa do have a good fixture swing from GW8- GW12.
Tottenham
- Home games: 3/8
- Away games: 5/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 3/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Spurs are the only team to face all the three promoted teams from GW1-GW8. They also have tough games like Arsenal(A), Liverpool(H) but there has always been goals in these games. Kane and Kulusevski could be great options if they stay at Spurs. It remains to be seen how they operate in the transfer market to get more clarity, but the fixtures are not bad.
Brentford
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 0/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Brentford have decent fixtures but it remains to be how they function without Toney. Without Toney, their attacking returns are likely to be scattered around. It looks better to go with Brentford defender instead of an attacker. With Raya leaving, the incoming Keeper/Mee/Pinnock/Henry could be good options if priced kindly at 4.5 million or even 5.0 million.
Fulham
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 2/8
Fulham’s fixtures from GW1- GW8 can be divided into 2 halves. In the first 4 games, they play Brentford, Arsenal and Manchester City. In the next 4 games, they play 2 promoted sides. It could be wise strategy to wait and watch them for the first 4 weeks before jumping on to the likes of Mitrovic and Leno.
Mitrovic is a fixture proof asset and could be a great differential in GW1. Throwback to the start of last season- Mitrovic faced Liverpool, Brentford, Arsenal, Brighton and Tottenham in the first 6 games and scored in all these games.
Crystal Palace
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Palace did finish last season on a high with Roy Hodgson and is likely to persist with him. Eze was the focal point of their attack getting 6 goals, 2 assists and 67 points from the last 10 games. He can be a good budget option right from GW1. Palace fixtures look good to start off the season with Arsenal(H) and United(A) the only difficult games.
Chelsea
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 1/8
Chelsea finished 12th in the league last season, but they are a team to watch out for under Pochettino especially with no European football. Chelsea have great fixtures to start off the season and there could be some cheap budget bargains who we could punt on. Chelsea have only one game against Last season Top 6 side in the first 8 games. James and Chilwell are proven assets when fit and could be exciting punts right away.
Wolves
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 5/8
Wolves assets are a strict avoid as their fixture run looks difficult to start the season. In hindsight, it is a good thing as we won’t fall to the Pedro Neto trap!
West Ham
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 4/8
West Ham have a tricky start to the season to the season and would fall into the “Wait and Watch” category.
Bournemouth
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 0/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 4/8
From a FPL perspective, Bournemouth assets can be easily avoided till GW7 as their fixtures look really difficult.
Nottingham Forest
- Home games: 3/8
- Away games: 5/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Forest arguably have the toughest start in terms of Fixture Difficulty rating as they face Arsenal, United, Chelsea, City within the first 6 games.
Everton
- Home games: 5/8
- Away games: 3/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 2/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 2/8
Everton have a good start to the season as they face Arsenal as the only Top 6 side in the first 8 games. However their end season form did not look great and we should watch out for the pre- season games to find if there is a budget asset available.
Burnley
- Home games: 5/8
- Away games: 3/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 5/8
Burnley come into the Premier League in a commanding style- Most Goals Scored(87) and Least Goals Conceded(35) in the Championship last season. But they fall into the “Wait and Watch” list as they have a tough run of fixtures to start the season.
Luton Town
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 2/8
Probably the best team to target for the initial run-in among the Promoted sides. They are a defensively strong side as they conceded only 39 goals from 46 games last season- Second Best in Championship. If there are enablers out there for 4.0 or 4.5 million, you can have them in your plans.
Sheffield United
- Home games: 4/8
- Away games: 4/8
- Games against Promoted sides: 1/8
- Games against Last season Top 8: 3/8
Sheffield have a tricky run of fixtures and it would be better to target later in the season seeing how they perform.
