Most Bonus Points in an FPL Season | FPL History

Bonus Points have been an integral part of Fantasy Premier League(FPL) game since it began in 2002/03. In the starting days, Press Association took the job of awarding the 3 bonus points to players(s). Then it was replaced by Actim Index bonus(where it would take 48 hours after game is completed) in 2006/07 before it was replaced by EA Sports Player Performance Index(PPI) in 2011/12. Then came the OPTA(Bonus Points System) era which is there till now. In this blog let’s take a look at the players who have registered the Most bonus points in an FPL season since FPL began in 2002/03.

Most Bonus Points in an FPL Season Since 2002/03

Fabregas- 54, 2006/07 season, Midfielder

Fabregas fetched a crazy 54 Bonus Points in the 2006/07 season in the season when Actim Index was used to award bonus points back then. Surprisingly, Fabregas did not Top the Actim Player Ranking for that season, but Bonus points depended largely on how the team/his teammates perform along with the player numbers and his Actim Rankings.

Fun Fact:

During the 2 seasons Actim Index was used(2005/06, 2006/07), Players were awarded Assist Points for a “Pre assist”- Players who assisted the assister.

Coming back to Fabregas, He was a proper FPL Legend in those days. In the 2007/08 season, he got 20 FPL assists(17 actual assists). Fabregas bettered the record with 18 actual PL assists in the 14/15 season at Chelsea. 2009/10 season saw the “Goal scoring Fabregas” as he got 15 goals along with 15 assists to get 214 points from just 27 games.

Despite being consistently a great pick, Fabregas never finished as the Highest Scoring FPL Midfielder in a season thanks to Lampard and Ronaldo who dominated those years.

Bale- 50, 2012/13 season, Midfielder

It was simply the Bale season- 21 goals, 9 assists, 9 clean sheets. There was no stopping the duo of Andres Villas Boas and Gareth Bale. He put on a solo show and helped Tottenham finish 5th in Premier League and reach Quarter Finals in Europa League. These exploits meant that Bale started next season as a 12.0 million midfielder.

In that 2012/13 season Bale was Highest Scoring FPL Midfielder with 249 points followed by Juan Mata(212 points).

After this season he was made 14 million(Most Expensive Player in FPL History) in 13/14 season but flopped that season and ended up with just 112 points.

Kane- 48, 2022/23 Season, Forward

With all the hype around Haaland, Kane registered his best-ever FPL season with 30 goals, 9 assists, 48 Bonus Points. He was the focal point of Spurs attacks and was involved in pretty much everything Tottenham did which made him a Bonus Point magnet. Kane only blanked in 8/38 games during this season.

Kane(263 points) finished only behind Haaland(272 points) when it came to most FPL points that year.
