FPL GW17 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

We have gone with Ederson as the Goal Keeper as we don’t have City defenders in our Scout team. To put in simple terms, Ederson is the most nailed player in the City backline. Next comes Cancelo, it is a decision to be made if we need to spend the money. At the moment, Manchester City are the only team with 2 confirmed Double Gameweeks- GW20 and GW23. City are the best defensive side- They have the least xGC(11.28) in the league. With lots of injuries to Leeds players, there could be another cleansheet in GW17.

FPL GW17 Scout Picks- Defenders

Trippier is a no-brainer in Scout Picks these days and have become a must-own in FPL terms with 96 points(Highest scoring Defender) courtesy 9 clean sheets and 4 attacking returns. As expected, his underlying numbers are all also good- He is Top among defenders for Expected Assists, Big chances created, Key Passes and also Bonus Points(17). Newcastle have the most clean sheets(7) and have conceded the least goals(11) this season.

Reece James has returned to full team training and is available for selection. With 2 good fixtures- Bournemouth(H), Forest(A) followed by a Double in GW19, he is a great pick. We all know how explosive he can be when he gets his minutes. In GW17, James and Chelsea take on a Bournemouth side who have conceded 68 chances from their left flank(2nd highest) and 241 crosses from their left flank(highest) in the league. This is where James operates which means there could be a haul right away in GW17!

Luke Shaw is the final pick from defenders. United face Forest, Wolves, Bournemouth in the next 3 games who are all in Bottom 4 for open play xG this season. Shaw also has good attacking threat and has a good matchup. Shaw’s GW17 opponent Forest have conceded 149 crosses from their right flank(4th highest) in the league.

FPL GW17 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Salah is fresh from his World Cup break and will look to get back the injury hit Liverpool side back to winning ways. With injuries to Diaz, Jota and Firmino the onus will be on Salah to get the goals. Despite a mediocre season by his standards, Salah has 6 goals, 4 assists from 14 games. Salah is top for Big chances(14), Shots inside the box(39), Penalty area touches(119) among Midfielders this season.

Rashford is one of the Best Budget picks and a potential steal at just £6.7. Rashford(10) is only behind Salah(14) among Midfielders in terms of Big chances. Form and fixtures are both on his side. Rashford is also a streak player who gets going when he gets a goal. He had a good outing for England at the World Cup and also returned to score a stunning solo goal in the Carabao Cup vs Burnley which should boost his confidence.

Almiron is the gift that keeps on giving and some of the managers still find a way to ignore it. Since GW9, he has 7 goals, 2 assists from 8 games including 4-double digit FPL hauls. In fact, he is the highest scoring FPL players during this period with 71 FPL points. This is no luck as his underlying numbers have also been good and he has been producing these results over a consistent run. Almiron is also in good form- Came off the bench to score 2 goals in the last friendly vs Al Hilal on 8th December.

Zaha is the perfect 2 week punt if you are looking for one before jumping on to Double Gameweek players. Fulham and Bournemouth are two games where Zaha can thrive. Zaha is up against Fulham in GW17 who are defensively poor and are likely to be without Robinson at LB as well. Since GW10, Fulham have conceded 27 big chances from 7 games which is the highest in the league.

Martinelli is final pick from Midfield who has 5 goals, 4 assists from 15 games this season. With Jesus also ruled out, Arsenal would want him to take up the goal scoring duty.

FPL GW17 Scout Picks- Forwards

Haaland is a no-brainer and also the Captain pick for FPL GW17. Haaland has 18 goals, 3 assists from 14 games with some amazing underlying numbers. Over the last 6 matches, Leeds have conceded 14 goals which is the highest in the league and have kept zero cleansheets in the process. To add to this, Leeds won’t have Tyler Adams(suspension). Cooper and Meslier who are the backbone of Leeds defense are both injury doubts.

Harry Kane is the final pick. He has not put a single foot wrong this season having blanked only twice since GW2 getting 12 goals and 3 assists from 14 games. Spurs have also been bolstered by the return of Kulusevski who should improve Spurs attack overall and hence Kane’s returns too. Brentford have conceded the most chances(89) from the center this season and this should excite Kane after his penalty miss at the World Cup.

Harry Kane has scored in every Premier League game he has played on Boxing day and has the Most PL Goals(9) in Boxing day.
