Top FPL Gameweek 34 Captain Picks Based on Analysis and Metrics

GW33 turned out to be a huge week for the metrics and the managers. The metrics gave out a bold call which showed Salah toping it and he registered a massive haul of 19 points, the extra effort in analyzing Ronaldo proved to be fruitful as well with the United attacker scoring a hatrick for a 17-point haul. But there’s little time to celebrate as we are closing on another deadline. In our FPL Gameweek 34 captaincy picks and metrics let’s see who will come out on top in a week which sees the popular options being Chelsea assets, Salah and KDB.

Man City ate at the top of the xG ranks in the last six games and take the first spot for the team attack rank. Chelsea assets pick the second spot with an xG of 12.63. Liverpool are last(weird) with a minor difference of 0.2 xG compared with Chelsea. There’s no rank three for Liverpool because of three Chelsea assets with a rank 2, so this means Liverpool rank 5th.

In the Third Phase of the article, We use Drafthound’s odds for a Team scoring at least One goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.5 goals in the Gameweek as a whole. You can check out the same as well for free on Drafthound along with fixture analysis, predicted analysis, and more.

James tops the projections with a 79% chance of return across the two games and a points projection of 9.3. KDB is close behind even though he’s a single gameweek option with a 78% chance of return and 8.8 points projected.

Mount has the second-highest projection of 9.1 points and is third overall for safety and explosion rank. Havertz meanwhile ends last even though he has decent numbers which however isn’t close to the other four options.

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 34 Captaincy metric analysis

In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). The Candidate having the lowest Cumulative Rank Factor is the most ideal Captaincy Option according to this metric.

Mount(9) and James(9) finish on top and are the best captaincy options ahead of GW34 as per the metrics. Havertz(10) runs them close but Mount(9) and James(9) finish above Havertz with a CRF difference of 1. Salah and KDB surprsingly finish 4th and 5th on the metrics largely due to the Single Gameweek fixtures compared to Chelsea’s Double Gameweek fixtures.
