FPL GW1 Team Reveal

FPL GW1 GoalKeepers

Robert Sanchez – At just 4.5 million, Sanchez is a great value. Playing for a Brighton team that are defensively solid, Sanchez will get plenty of clean sheets. With appealing fixtures to start the season, Sanchez is the pick of the bunch for the goalkeepers.

Ben Foster – My 2nd goalkeeper isn’t going to start in my team. Ben Foster is just 4.0 million and is most likely to force his way into the 1st team out of the 4.0 million options. Enabler.

FPL GW1 Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold – Another player that has never left my drafts. Trent has a brilliant attacking threat for a defender and plenty of clean sheet potential. The return of Van Dijk will only improve the Liverpool defence which increases Trent’s appeal. Expect plenty of assists and clean sheets for Liverpool’s star right back.

Luke Shaw – One of the most improved players of last season. Luke Shaw exploded into a brilliant fantasy option and looks to kick on this season. The addition of Raphael Varane only increases the chances of clean sheets for Man United. Shaw takes corners and loves to get forward while Wan-Bissaka sits further back. I expect Shaw to continue his brilliant form and be a brilliant FPL asset this season.

Kostas Tsimikas – A starter in the Liverpool defence at just 4.0 million? Seems too good to be true. With Andy Robertson’s injury, there is a space in the Liverpool defence for an attacking fullback. Tsimikas may only play for a couple of game weeks but will provide brilliant value into Liverpool’s brilliant fixtures.

Joel Veltman – This spot was initially pencilled in for Lamptey. But with his injury news, I have turned to his Brighton colleague. Veltman doesn’t have the same attacking threat as Lamptey but with the aforementioned favourable Brighton fixtures, at just 4.5 million, Veltman can enjoy plenty of clean sheets to start the season.

Luke Ayling – Ayling is my 5th defender and will be a key part of my strategy. Ayling rotates well with Veltman to allow me to have a good defensive fixture every week. Even though Leeds have a tough start, Ayling will be crucial with his guaranteed minutes and attacking potential.

FPL GW1 Midfielders

FPL GW1 Team Reveal ~ Midfielders

Mo Salah – What do I really have to say about Salah? A legend in FPL, scores goals for fun, plays for one of the best teams in the league, on penalties, brilliant fixtures, captaincy pedigree, nailed in my team.

Bruno Fernandes – For a while, I thought about going without Bruno. But he just keeps coming back. Bruno was brilliant last season and I see that continuing. The addition of Sancho will only strengthen the United attack that Bruno spearheads, another huge season coming.

Raphinha – A player that I think is under-priced this season. Raphinha’s goal threat and chance creation stats speak for themselves. Bielsa plays a free-flowing attacking style and Raphinha is at the forefront of it. I am expecting another brilliant season for the Brazilian winger.

Emi Buendia – Buendia is stepping into Jack Grealish’s shoes. After tearing up the Championship last season, Buendia is ready to take the Premier League by storm. With a brilliant fixture run to start, I expect Emi to come out of the blocks flying.

Mason Greenwood – With the injury to Rashford and the late returns to training for Cavani and Sancho, there is a few spots available in the Man United attack. Greenwood has had a summer of rest and is ready to lead that United attack. With Bruno supplying the chances alongside Greenwood’s finishing prowess, goals are incoming.

FPL GW1 Strikers

FPL GW1 Team Reveal ~ Strikers

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Under Benitez Everton are an unknown quantity. But DCL scoring goals is a known quantity. With Richarlison missing the first few weeks due to Olympic commitments DCL will need to step up and he has the fixtures to do so. With Townsend joining Everton, early crosses are guaranteed and DCL will be on the end of many chances, and nobody is better at taking those headed chances than DCL.

Michail Antonio – If Antonio stays fit, Antonio is a brilliant FPL asset. Leading the line for a West Ham side that were so impressive last season they made their way into Europe. With no new striker coming in at West Ham, pressure again will fall on Antonio to score plenty of goals. A challenge I’m sure he is up for.

Michael Obafemi – A cheap enabler with a chance of starting. The sale of Danny Ings has left a place in the Saints attack and if Obafemi earns that spot, then his points could come in handy off the bench in my FPL team.
