With many managers looking to play their Free Hit chip this week, here is the best possible free hit draft for FPL GW29 that I have worked on. The most important teams to cover in a Free Hit draft this week for me are Tottenham, West Ham, Brighton, and Leeds which you will notice when reading this FPL GW29 Free Hit article.

FPL GW29 Fixtures:

FPL GW29 Goalkeeper:

Robert Sanchez FPL GW29 Freehit draft team
Sanchez will look to keep a CS

Robert Sánchez (£4.5m) – Brighton

Ownership: 3.4%

Fixture: NEW (H)

Brighton face a toothless Newcastle attack that has only managed to score 3 goals in the last 5 games. Meanwhile the Brighton defence has proved to be good since they first kept 5 clean sheets in 6 league games and then despite conceding in all the last four games kept delivering good underlying stats which points towards future clean sheets.

It is also worth mentioning that Robert Sánchez has saved over 70% of the shots on target he faced, while Matt Ryan, the former Brighton goalkeeper, only has a save percentage of 50%. With a good goalkeeper to back up the backline, we can expect good chances of a Brighton clean sheet in GW 29.

Defenders for FPL GW29 Free Hit team

Stuart Dallas (£5.1m) – Leeds

Dallas could be in for an attacking return

Ownership: 23.5%

Fixture: FUL (A)

Stuart Dallas is now the fifth highest point scoring defender, averaging 5.3 points per game since GW 23. However, the most eye-catching thing about him is the fact that he plays as a midfielder for Leeds most of the time, which heavily increases his attacking threat and makes him a much better FPL option.

In the last 6 PL games Dallas has averaged 0.5 attempt in the box and 0.67 chances created per game, despite playing a few of those games at left-back. Dallas is probably the best attacking defender for a GW 29 FH and a must-have.

Sergio Reguilón (£5.5m) – Tottenham

Ownership: 3.7%

Fixture: AVL (A)

Since Sergio Reguilón came back from injury the Tottenham defence has looked a bit better, but it is mainly about the lack of attacking threat from Aston Villa here. Since Jack Grealish got injured Villa have only scored 3 goals in 5 games and the striker Ollie Watkins has seen a big drop in attacking stats which is great for Reguilón as a part of the Spurs defence.

Reguilón has created 0.33 big chances per game over the last 6 games which combined with his 1.17 goal attempts during the same period makes him a good option as well for his attacking potential.

Lewis Dunk (£5.0m) – Brighton

Dunk could repeat his heroics from FPL GW28

Ownership: 7.6%

Fixture: NEW (H)

Lewis Dunk is the leader of the Brighton defence and as mentioned earlier they are likely the team with the biggest clean sheet potential this GW. We can also add to this that Dunk has scored 4 goals already in Premier League this season, which is very impressive for a centre-back.

He carries the greatest goalscoring threat among Brighton defenders and although he costs more than the others that is not a problem on Free Hit this week since there are not many interesting premium options taking up a lot of the budget.

Midfielders for FPL GW29 Free Hit team

Gareth Bale (£9.6m) – Tottenham

Gareth Bale FPL GW29 Freehit draft team

Ownership: 10.9%

Fixture: AVL (A)

Gareth Bale has 6 goal involvements in his last 6 PL games which is great stats for any attacker in the league. With Heung Min-Son potentially out injured a lot of Tottenham’s attacking play will involve Bale who will therefore have an even better chance of getting on the scoresheet in GW 29.

He is still only owned by 10.9% of the managers which makes him a player to break the template with, which is exactly what you want to do on a Free Hit. Bale has averaged 0.41 xGI (expected goal involvements) per game over the last 6 games and going up against a not very solid Aston Villa defence, despite keeping clean sheets their defensive stats have not been particularly good, I can see Bale going big in GW 29.

Leandro Trossard (£5.7m) – Brighton

Ownership: 1.6%

Fixture: NEW (H)

Here is a real differential. The less than 2.0% owned Leandro Trossard scored his third goal of the season in GW 28 and presents a great opportunity to gain rank, going up against a leaky Newcastle defence. Brighton have consequently underperformed their xG this season, although we could actually see the opposite in GW 28.

Trossard could be a great option for FPL GW29

This might indicate that they are getting more clinical, either way they still perform great attacking numbers which indicates that there will be chances for the attackers, it is just about taking them which I think Trossard will be able to do against Newcastle. A great differential pick on a Free Hit.

Jesse Lingard (£6.1m) – West Ham

Ownership: 9.8%

Fixture: ARS (H)

Since joining West Ham on loan in GW 22 Jesse Lingard has been involved in 6 goal in 6 games. It has only been 6 games as he could not play against his parent club Manchester United in GW 28 and immediately West Ham failed to score, which is not only a coincidence. West Ham have much better attacking numbers with Lingard on the pitch and since he got “rested” in GW 28 we can expect fresh legs from the Englishman this GW.

Lingard has since joining West Ham averaged 3.17 goal attempts per game, 1.83 from inside the box, and been involved in 60% of West Ham’s goals during this period which clearly points out how involved he is in the play and if West Ham score, we can expect Lingard to be around.

Raphinha (£5.6m) – Leeds

Raphinha FPL GW29 Freehit draft team

Ownership: 13.1%

Fixture: FUL (A)

Raphinha just keeps performing extremely good underlying numbers, averaging 0.53 xA per game in the last 6 games. He has not always been able to transform that to actual assists, mainly because of his teammates but sooner or later the strikers are going to start scoring.

Raphinha has created a chance every 27th minute in the last 6 games, combine that with an average of 0.83 big chances created per game and 2.67 goal attempts per game and you realize that a Raphinha haul is not far away. Almost a must-have this week.

Strikers for FPL GW29 Free Hit team

Michail Antonio (£6.6) – West Ham

Ownership: 13.5%

Fixture: ARS (H)

Michail Antonio has been involved in 4 goals in the 5 games he and Lingard have played together, that is an average of 0.8 per game which is really good. With Lingard back against Arsenal and West Ham wanting a win to really keep themselves in the top-four battle this is a great game for Antonio.

During the last 6 games Antonio has had an average of 0.63 xG per game and since he faced both Manchester clubs and Tottenham in this period, the stat is very impressive. Antonio presents real value for money and is a very good pick this week for those on Free Hit.

Harry Kane (£11.4m) – Tottenham

Harry Kane FPL GW29 Freehit draft team

Ownership: 41.6%

Fixture: AVL (A)

Despite blanking in the derby against Arsenal in GW 28 Harry Kane is the most essential player to own this GW. He has incredible 29 goal involvements in the league this season and with his new-found partnership with Gareth Bale I expect that number to be higher after the game against Aston Villa in GW 29.

In the last 6 PL games Harry Kane has an xGI per game of 0.67 which is particularly good. He averages 2 goals attempts in the box per game and with only 22 minutes between every attempt in average there are lots of reasons to have Kane in your team for GW 29. The best captaincy option too and is therefore awarded the armband in this Free Hit team.

Josh Maja (£5.5m) – Fulham

Josh Maja FPL GW29 Freehit draft team

Ownership: 1.3%

Fixture: LEE (H)

Having a Fulham attacker this week is great considering how bad the Leeds defence can look from time to time. The question is only if it should be Josh Maja or Ademola Lookman? I have landed in Maja. He was rested against Manchester City in GW 28 and should play against Leeds. If we compare Maja’s and Lookman’s stats over the last 6 games:

xG/90: 0.56 vs 0.13 (Maja wins)

xA/90: 0.08 vs 0.08 (Draw)

Goal attempts in box/90: 2.17 vs 1.50 (Maja wins)

Minutes per attempt: 38.2 vs 59.1 (Maja wins)

We can clearly see that Maja is the best pick here since he is outscoring Lookman in basically all categories. He only costs £5.5m and with his low ownership he is a great pick this week.

Other players worth mentioning for FPL GW29: Cresswell, Tierney, Watkins, Lucas Moura, Veltman.
