The longest GW I have known since I started playing FPL has finally come to an end. To put it in perspective there is a 18 day gap between Gameweek 21 and Gameweek 22 deadlines. But the dreaded break is finally over.

FPL Gameweek 22 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Kyle Walker (£5.4m) – DEF, Man City – 18.3% TSB
Manchester City has recorded 3 Clean Sheets in the last 4 matches. They face Burnley in GW22, a team which his ranked
- 20th for Big Chances
- 20th for xG
- 20th for xG Open Play
- 19th for xGNP
- 19th for Goals Scored
- 19th for Shots
- 19th for Shots in the Box
Man City are ranked 1st in terms of FDR till GW25
Walker has started every PL game so far. Expect a vanilla 6 pointer from the Englishman. And if you’re lucky he can pop up with an assist…just like he did in the last GW.

Pervis Estupiñán (£5.1m) – DEF, Brighton & Hove Albion – 27.9% TSB
Over the past 3 Gameweeks, among defenders, Estupiñán is ranked:
- 2nd for goals
- 2nd for BPS
- 3rd for FPL points
Brighton are ranked 1st in terms of FDR till GW28
Therefore, buying Estupiñán could give you an edge over your mini-league rivals during this period.

Bukayo Saka (£9.1m) – MID, Arsenal – 61.6% TSB
Saka’s owners are a bit frustrated and understandably so. Just 1 GI between GW16-21 is not what you expect from your £9.0m asset. The fact that he was robbed off a potential assist adds more to the disappointment.
However, it’s crucial to note that Saliba is a consistent starter for Arsenal. Even in this lean period (GW16-21), Saka’s underlying stats are good. Among midfielders, he is ranked:
- 1st for Shots
- 2nd for Shots in the Box
- 2nd for Big Chances
- 3rd for xGNP
- 3rd for xG Open Play
- 3rd for XGI
- 4th for xG
- 4th for Key Passes
- 5th for xA
Saliba’s upcoming fixtures involve match against Nottingham Forest who has not kept a Clean Sheet since GW12
Considering these favourable factors, it is advisable to keep Saka in your Fantasy Premier League squad.

Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) – FWD, Aston Villa – 55.0% TSB
Ollie Watkins is the second most transferred out FWD after the uncertain Haaland. The same Watkins who is the highest scoring FWD in the game. The managers maybe getting jittery with just 1 goal and 2 assists in the last 7 games.
However, Watkins has played a crucial role for Aston Villa this season, contributing significantly with a commendable total of 18 goals and assists combined. His unwavering performance throughout the campaign, alongside Villa’s potent attack, suggests a potential resurgence in the upcoming Gameweeks.
Villa ranks 4th for goals scored so far, indicating their offensive strength. The team faces favorable fixtures until Gameweek 30, starting with a match against Newcastle.
Newcastle has conceded 22 goals and managed 1 Clean Sheet in 10 away games this season. Only SHU, FUL, BOU and NFO have conceded more goals in away games than Newcastle. And only SHU and LUT have kept fewer clean sheets than the Magpies on the road. Considering Newcastle’s struggles on the road, this fixture presents a promising opportunity for Watkins to deliver Fantasy Premier League (FPL) returns. In light of Aston Villa’s attacking prowess, Watkins’ consistent contributions, and the favorable upcoming schedule, retaining him in FPL squads appears to be a wise decision for managers.

FPL Gameweek 22 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) – MID, Liverpool – 24.4% TSB
Salah suffered a hamstring injury on January 18th during the Ghana match. The Egypt FA confirmed his absence for two AFCON matches on January 19th. Following further examinations on January 21st, it was announced that Salah would return to England after the Cape Verde match (January 22nd) for additional treatment. Salah’s agent suggested a 21-28 day recovery period on the same day.
Considering the timelines, Salah is likely to miss GW24 entirely. If DGW25 is announced, Liverpool faces a tight schedule with matches on February 17th, 21st/22nd, and the Carabao Cup Final on February 25th.
I feel Salah might not start all three matches due to the risk of re-injury in hamstring cases. Klopp could target the Carabao Cup Final for Salah’s return. KDB also has a good looking DGWs and TAA can be an essential/ safer option for Liverpool’s DGW cover (though I am not saying TAA can cover Salah).
Considering these factors, it may be wise to think twice about selecting Salah for the Double Gameweek, given the low expected minutes, GW26 blank, and the likelihood of a GW29 blank. This is especially relevant if Haaland is fit and can be a nice captaincy choice while Son or KDB could be the 2nd premium player.

Levi Colwill (£4.7m) – DEF, Chelsea – 6.9% TSB
Chelsea sit rock bottom in terms of FDR till GW 26 facing Liverpool, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Man City and a blank. Though Wolves and Palace fixtures look easy on paper, Chelsea could not keep a Clean Sheet in either of these reverse fixtures.
Just 2 clean sheets in the last 14 games doesn’t instil much confidence in the Chelsea defence either. Colwill (or for that matter any Chelsea defender other than Gusto) can easily be upgraded to Brighton’s Estupiñán.
