FPL GW14 Transfer Targets

Bryan Mbeumo BRE £7.0

Mbeumo tops the NPxGI chart over the last games in spite of facing some top teams

Projected Points GW14-16:17.8

The man of the hour, Bryan Mbeumo, is THEE best player to bring in this GW. Mbeumo was unlucky to blank in GW13 as his shot was cleared off the line by a smart play on the part of Declan Rice. Mbeumo has great underlying stats with a 0.88 xGI per 90 minutes, which is massive considering he is only £7.0.

Top players for Expected points from GW14-GW16, Mbeumo is fourth amongst all players via DraftHound

Mbeumo also has good upcoming fixtures, with the 6th easiest fixtures over the next 8 GWs, which includes a projected double gameweek in GW20.  On penalties, playing 90 minutes, and with great upcoming fixtures, Mbeumo is the best midfielder to buy in the upcoming GWs.

All three of Mbeumo’s next three opponents are without a clean sheet so far this season

  • Luton Town are 2nd for most xGC(26.80) conceded and joint 4th for most goals(23) conceded so far this season
  • Sheffield are 1st for both xGC(29.46) and goals(34) conceded so far this season
  • Brighton are hit by injuries in defence and are joint fourth for goals(23) conceded this season. They’ll also be without captain Lewis Dunk who is suspended for the Brentford game due to his red card in FPL GW13.

Chris Wood NFO £4.9

Projected Points GW14-16:10.8

With so few forward options at the moment, given the obvious shouts of Watkins and Darwin being popular, a new player on my watchlist is Chris Wood. Awoniyi is expected to be sidelined for months, making Chris Wood nailed on for a decent Forrest side.  Over the next six GWs, Wood has the 3rd best fixtures for attackers, which includes a good fixtures against Bournemouth in blank GW18.

Wood’s underlying stats are also decent, with a 0.54 xGI per 90 minutes. With good data, great fixtures, and just £4.9, Wood is a great player to have as an 8th attacker or as a downgrade for those managers trying to open up funds from the likes of Nketiah or even Joao Pedro.

Alternate cheap forward to consider

Alternatively, you can also consider Semenyo as a differential budget option for GW14 onwards, the cherries have some decent fixtures and Semenyo is only £4.5 Million as well. He picked up the assist vs Sheffield United and looked good!

Pedro Porro TOT£5.3

Projected Points GW14-16:10.5

With a nice assist in GW13 and the lack of defensive options, many managers should look again at Pedro Porro as an option. Porro is just a machine in creating chances with a massive 0.35 xGI per 90 minutes, which ranks 3rd amongst defenders. Spurs also have great fixtures after GW14, with the 4th easiest schedule for defenders from GW15 to GW20.

This good fixture run also includes a great fixture in GW18  against Everton in a GW where Manchester City and Brentford blank. On set pieces due to Maddison’s injury and great long-term fixtures, Pedro Porro is a player firmly on my watchlist.

Budget Defenders on the watchlist:

Another defensive option to consider is the Brentford duo of Pinnock(£4.6m) and Ajer(£4.5m), Brentford are 8th for the lowest goals conceded(18) and xGC(18.20) so far this season in spite of playing a lot of tough games already. The Bees have a decent run of fixtures in the upcoming gameweeks and investing in one of Ajer or Pinnock could be worthy of a transfer!

Do note that Ajer is on four yellow cards which is one away from suspension, Brentford also blank in GW18 so you need to plan your team for that blank!

Alternate cheap defenders to consider could include Forest duo Aina and Murillo. Nottingham Forest have Bournemouth(H) in the blank GW18. Fulham defenders can also be considered as they have a decent run of games and face Burnley(H) in the blank GW18
