FPL GW11 Tips – Key Questions/Dilemmas Answered
1) Who are the best Botman/Udogie replacements?
Both Sven Botman and Destiny Udogie are doubts about GW11, and FPL managers are looking for potential replacements.
“Unfortunately there’s no timescale with Sven [Botman]. We’re going to have to wait and see over the next few weeks” – Howe on Botman in the GW11 Press Conference
Arsenal defenders look good for clean sheets in the upcoming games. Ben White (£5.7m) and William Saliba (£5.2m) are a bit higher in price. Oleksandr Zinchenko may not be completely nailed. The pick that stands out to me is Gabriel at £4.8m. He looks good in the Arsenal backline, and despite getting benched in GW10, I expect him to be a regular starter in the coming games.
Matty Cash is still an excellent defender to buy this week. He is top for xGI among all defenders, and there is potential for attacking returns. You can even get Kostas Tsimikas from Liverpool. Though Liverpool hasn’t kept many clean sheets this season, Tsimikas is excellent going forward and does have good attacking potential. Liverpool has also kept 2 clean sheets in their last games, and there is potential for more in the upcoming games.
Marc Guéhi is a dull but safe defender pick. Despite conceding 6 goals in the last two games, Palace are a decent defence, and Guehi can provide good value at a slightly cheaper price point.
Palace have a very good set of fixtures coming up. 4 of their next 5 games have an FDR rating of 2. It is in these games when Palace are solid and keep clean sheets. Roy Hodgson’s men have registered shutouts In three of the four games against bottom-half opposition this season.
Given the fact that four of their next five games is against teams in the latter half of the table, there is a possibility of Guehi and co keeping more clean sheets.
Dawson and Kilman are good shouts too with Wolves having a good run of games. Four of their next six matches are up against teams that have an FDR rating of 2. All these 4 teams are in the bottom 7 for goals scored so far this season. Kilman is also amongst the bonus whenever they keep a clean sheet & is a BPS machine(More on Wolves defence in our differentials blog)
If you want even more budget, look at Charlie Taylor from Burnley. There may not be a lot of potential for points here, but he is only £3.9m and can help you save some money. Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle is another great shout. With Botman out for slightly longer term, he can provide great value at £4m.

2) Who are the best Pedro Neto replacements?
Wolves attacker Pedro Neto suffered an injury against Newcastle in GW10. He is expected to be out for a few weeks, and it’s a great time to look for replacements.
Wolves head coach Gary O’Neil on Pedro Neto:
“A few weeks is probably where we are at the moment. He won’t be available in the next two weekends and then we have an international break. We’re hopeful we’ll get him back quickly. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him. He’s been so good this season but we have other players.” – Gary O’Neil on Botman in the GW11 Press Conference
A straight swap to his teammate Hwang Hee-Chan is also a good move!
If you have some additional money available, Kaoru Mitoma is the best replacement pick. He is nailed in the Brighton attack and has the potential to go big in the upcoming games. Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa is an alternate choice. He did well against Luton last week and has good fixtures in the short term.
Douglas Luiz has done well for Villa, but he is not an option for me. There are other attackers with better underlying and more sustainable attacking stats, and I’d avoid Luiz for now. He’s also on four yellow cards one away from a one-game suspension too!
Bryan Mbeumo is another pick only a few managers are talking about. The Brentford forward has scored 27 points in the last gameweeks, which is worth considering. Fixtures in GW12 & 13 are against Liverpool and Arsenal, but after that, he can do very well.
A player in a similar price range as Neto is Anthony Gordon (£5.7m) from Newcastle. With Harvey Barnes out because of injury, Gordon is getting more game time, and that looks to continue for the time being. There is always a risk of him getting benched in a game because of the mid-week CL games, but he should play most games for Newcastle.
Gordon’s upcoming games are slightly tricky, and you can get Adingra from Brighton instead. He has some attacking fixtures and has started 5 of his last 6 games for Brighton.
If you can’t afford both, you can look at an enabler option like Cole Palmer from Chelsea. He is another decent pick if you are okay with being aggressive. Fixtures are tough, and calling him a nailed starter is still tricky. Still, he costs pretty little (£5m) and is a risk worth taking.

3) Which teams to target in FPL right now?
With a few top teams having good fixture swings, I think it’s a great strategy to focus on teams like Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Liverpool and West Ham.
Arsenal has a good run of games after their game against Newcastle in GW11. They face Burnley, Brentford, Wolves and Luton in their next 4 fixtures. If you are looking to get back to Saka, this is the ideal time. You can even double up in attack with Nketiah and be aggressive. These are also fixtures where Arsenal can get a few clean sheets and investing in their defense makes sense.
Aston Villa continues to be an excellent team to target right now. They are scoring a lot of goals and look dangerous in attack. They face Forest, Fulham and Bournemouth in 3 of their next 4 games, and it’s an excellent strategy to target players like Cash, Diaby and Watkins.
Brighton is another excellent team to jump on right now. Their next three games are against Everton, Sheffield Utd and Nottingham Forest, and there is tremendous attacking potential here. Going for Mitoma looks like the best bet. You can even cover the Brighton midfield with Adingra. If you are okay to take a bit of a risk, then Evan Ferguson as a forward can be very rewarding.
Liverpool is arguably the best attack in the league right now, and having good fixtures is a big bonus. 4 of their next 6 fixtures have an FDR of 2. Mohamed Salah is a must-have pick right now, and you can get high-value options like Tsimikas and Nunez to go all out with Liverpool.
West Ham is the next team on this list. The Hammers have done okay, and Bowen is the clear standout pick here. He is ranked 6th for FPL points among all MIDs. Fixtures till GW17 look solid, and he is a great mid-range midfield pick.

4) How do you structure your Wildcard for GW11?
Wildcarding in GW11 may not be a popular choice, but it can be a great way to sort out your team and take advantage of some good fixture swings. You can go aggressive by getting players from teams like Arsenal, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and West Ham, all having excellent fixtures in the upcoming gameweeks.
Try to get the cheapest goalkeeper combination, as they have limited points potential. You can get the Turner + Areola combination if you are looking for two affordable playing goalkeeper picks. I see that there are no significant advantages in going elsewhere for keepers.
Newcastle’s defence is not a must-have. Having a Trippier may limit your midfield potential, and that is where all the points are now. Matty Cash is still a good hold for the short term. He has a good fixture run till GW14. If you have some money, one of the Arsenal defenders can be a viable option. You can go for Gabriel at £4.8m. I am expecting him to start despite missing out in GW10 (just a regular rest – no injury news)
In terms of other picks, you can get Kostas Tsimikas from Liverpool. The budget pick from the Liverpool defence has started the last two league games and is a great pick to own right now. At £4.5m, I’d take a bet on him. If you want to look elsewhere, you can look at Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace. The team has kept 3 clean sheets in the last 5 games and is a decent defence overall.
In midfield, Son is an outstanding hold. He has looked in good touch, scoring 8 goals this season. The other must-have player on Wildcard would be Mohamed Salah. He has returned in 9 out of the last 10 games, including 4 double-digit hauls. Bukayo Saka is an excellent cover from Arsenal, with good attacking games coming up. An alternative to Saka can be Bowen from West Ham. He has 7 attacking returns for the Hammers and is showing good attacking form.
The other preferred picks in midfield will be going for slightly cheaper players like Mitoma or Diaby or even looking at enabler picks like Gordon or even Palmer from Chelsea, especially when you are looking to go super cheap for your 5th midfielder.
Looking at forwards, Haaland is a lock. For your 2nd striker, you can look at Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa. He is a nailed starter and is expected to be a key figure in the Villa attack. With good fixtures continuing, there is a lot to gain with Watkins, and he is a solid option among forwards.
In case you are looking to go different, Darwin Nunez can be an excellent differential from the Liverpool attack. He started the last game for Liverpool, and I am expecting him to continue the same. You can even go cheap and get in Nketiah as the enabler option from the Arsenal attack. He is only £5.6m and will likely get an extended run with Jesus having injury problems.
