Top FPL GW10 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of Deadline

FPL was back with a bang as almost all the big hitters doing well. However, there was a huge gap in captain returns as both Son and Salah significantly outscored Haaland. There are murmurs in the FPL community that it would be fair to go without the Norwegian if you are wildcarding ahead of FPL GW10. We are here to give you suggestions on players on whom you can use the Haaland money on if you are wildcard and more. Top FPL GW10 Differential Picks ( <10% ownership)

Gabriel Martinelli vs Sheffield United (H), £7.7m, TSB: 4.7%

It has been an injury-laden start to the season for Gabriel Martinelli. However, he is starting to find his feet now as he has registered 2 goals in his last 3 appearances in all competitions. The most recent being his goal against Sevilla midweek.

That goal against the Spanish opposition was his first goal contribution away from the Emirates this season. In the league this season, each of Martinelli’s attacking returns ( 1G + 2A) have come at home. Given the fact that 3 of the Gunners’ next 5 games are at home, now is the right time to take a bet on the Brazilian!

Last season too in the league, 9 of Martinelli’s 15 goals came at the Emirates stadium. The fact that Martinelli is £0.8 cheaper than Saka and Odegaard makes him an enticing pick in FPL.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United have the worst record in the league for big chances conceded (39). Further, no team has conceded more chances down the left flank (49) than the Blades. We know that is exactly where Martinelli operates.

Lucas Digne vs Luton (H), £4.7m, TSB: 6.2%

So often the troll piece in FPL. Lucas Digne this season has quietly been having a bit of a redemption arc in FPL. Digne has 30 points in FPL this season, with three attacking returns to his name ( 0G + 3A), 8 points shy of the must-have Matty Cash, who also has 3 attacking returns.

In fact, looking at it closely, if you take out Cash’s 17-point haul at Burnley, Digne has actually outperformed the Polish international by 4 points in the rest of the GWs.

That doesn’t mean he is all of a sudden the better pick. However, the Frenchman is £0.4 cheaper than Cash, which is crucial given that we are trying to accommodate at least 4 out of Son, Saka, Salah, Haaland, and Trippier into our teams.

Each of Digne’s 3 assists this season have come against teams in the bottom half of the table ( Everton, Burnley, and Crystal Palace). Four of Villa’s next five games are against such teams.

Cole Palmer vs Brentford (H), £5.0m, TSB: 2.4%

Cole Palmer has been the standout player in Chelsea’s recent resurgence. The youngster has been involved in 4 of the 8 goals ( 2 G 2 A) that the Blues have scored in the last three GWs. Believe it or not, only Aston Villa have scored more goals in this time. Quite a turnaround in front of goal for previously goal-shy Chelsea!

Palmer is fifth in the league for xPts From GW7 onwards. Yes, it helps that he is on penalties. But Chelsea are a team that is likely to win a lot of penalties. Already, only two teams (Aston Villa and Liverpool) have won more spot-kicks than the Blues.

Since he began featuring in the starting XI, Palmer is top for shots, shots in the box, big chances, big chances created, and xPts among his teammates. In short, he is at the heart of everything that Chelsea produce going forward.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s FPL GW10 opponents Brentford have conceded more % of chances (30%) down the right flank than any other team this season. That is where Palmer operates largely.

Here is a pro tip. If you are on a wildcard Palmer is a must-have as your fifth midfielder. However, if you are not, then it is better to wait until GW16 when Chelsea’s fixtures ease, to bring him in. Palmer also rotates well with a Palace defender for the 11th position in your team as seen below!

Tomáš Souček vs Everton (H), £4.9m, TSB: 1.2%

Remember his 2020-21 season? Where he scored 10 goals for the Hammers? That is the Souček we are seeing this season in FPL. The West Ham midfielder has already registered 2 goals this season, matching his last season’s tally.

The Czech international is right up there with Jarrod Bowen in terms of goal threat. As you can see, while the latter has had 7 big chances, and 6 goals, the latter has had 5 big chances, and 2 goals. You gotta bear in mind the fact that Souček missed 1.5 games due to injury.

In fact, since GW6, the Czech Republic international has had big chances, and the same number of shots in the box than Bowen. This is absolutely huge from an FPL perspective as Souček is £2.5 cheaper than the Englishman.

As we can see, Souček’s key attacking stats, such as touches in the box and shots in the box have significantly gone up when compared to last season.

As we can see from the above image, his 2020-21 stats are almost similar to this season’s stats up to this point. Therefore, we have to change our mind about Souček in FPL once again.

Top FPL GW10 Ultra Differential Picks ( <1% ownership)

Simon Adingra vs Fulham(H), £5.0m, TSB: 0.4%

FPL is all about fixtures. If you pick players who have a favorable run of fixtures, you are likely to do well. Very few players are fixture-proof in FPL. The last few weeks have suggested that even the mighty Erling Haaland may not be fixture-proof.

Brighton are about to go into one of those run of those games where you expect them not only to win, but win by a considerable margin. Therefore, it is important to try and get an attacking asset from their team.

Simon Adingra fits the billing perfectly at this point. The midfielder has registered 3 attacking returns (2 G 1 A) so far this season, with both the goals coming at the Amex stadium. Given the fact that Solly March is out with a long-term injury, Adingra’s spot in the team is pretty much secured for the moment.

Since Gameweek 5, no Brighton player has created more big chances than Adingra (2). In this period only 4 players have more xPts among the Seagulls.

Meanwhile, only 4 teams have conceded more big chances on the road than Fulham so far. Anyone who watched the Monday night game vs Spurs would have noticed how Fulham were the reason for their own downfall. Given the fact that De Zerbi’s men are one of the best teams in pressing the ball from the front, they are likely to have a lot of joy!

Abdoulaye Doucouré vs West Ham (A), £5.5m, TSB: 0.8%

Only 8 players have had more big chances in the league than Doucouré so far. Only one midfielder- Salah (9) has had more big chances. The best part is no midfielder has had more big chances from open play the Everton man.

The Everton man is also seventh in the league for NPxG thus far. Each of Everton’s next two games are against teams who are in the bottom six for goals conceded. West Ham, for starters, are also fourth worst in the league for big chances conceded (29)

Two of Doucouré’s three goals have come on the road this season. Everton in general have played better on the road than at Goodison Park.

The Frenchman has scored 3 goals in all competitions against Manchester United and Brighton, only against Southampton has he scored more goals (4). The Toffees play both of these teams in the next 4 GWs.
