FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold & Sell

GW9 saw almost all the Big Guns deliver. Salah, Son, Watkins, Trippier, Alvarez, Maddison, Haaland, Bruno, Saka – you name it and you have it. As a result, some people who even scored 70+ points saw a red arrow – such was the level of insanity. More importantly, FPL’s infamous curse of Gandhi for early kick off captains was vanquished by the Egyptian Pharaoh. FPL Gameweek 10 marks the last major fixture swing and hence a lot of Wildcards will be played. So it’s important to be extremely prudent in choosing which players to buy and which all to sell.

So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) – MID, Arsenal – 48.8% TSB

FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY ~ Saka

Bukayo Saka has dropped twice in price in the last two weeks (although he rose in price today). But the sellers might be punished as the Gunners face Sheffield at home. The same Sheffield who are ranked

  • 20th for Clean Sheets
  • 20th for Goals Conceded
  • 20th for Shots Conceded
  • 20th for Shots in Box Conceded
  • 20th for Shots on Target Conceded
  • 20th for Big Chances Conceded
  • 20th for xGNP Conceded

So Arsenal goals are very likely to flow in this fixture. And if that’s the case, Saka will come into the picture big time. Saka has been in terrific form this season. Despite sharing penalties, he has blanked only once this season.

He leads his teammates both in terms of goals scored and assists; and hence FPL points. I expect the Englishman to return this week.

Callum Wilson (£7.8m) – FWD, Newcastle – 4.6% TSB

FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY ~ Wilson

Newcastle are ranked

  • 1st for Goals scored
  • 1st for Big Chances
  • 1st for xG
  • 1st for xGNP
  • 1st for xG Open Play

Wolves on the other hand are ranked

  • 18th for Shots in Box Conceded
  • 17th for Shots on Target Conceded
  • 16th for Shots Conceded
  • 14th for Goals Conceded
  • 14th for xG Conceded
  • 14th for xGNP Conceded
  • 14th for Big Chances Conceded

The only reason why many of us stayed away from Wilson was the rotation risk with Isak. But now with Isak out injured, Wilson will mostly start. He certainly has the ability to find the back of the net as evident by the fact that he has scored in his last 3 EPL starts.

FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m) – MID, Brighton – 37.0% TSB

If you’re still one of those managers who owns Mitoma, your patience might just get rewarded this week (and next and next and next). The reason is the mouth-watering fixtures of BHA.

Mitoma is the most nailed BHA attacker with the highest mins under his belt. He has started 8 of the 9 fixtures for his team so far. And the one where he didn’t start, he came on at HT to score 14 points.

Fulham are ranked

  • 16th in terms of Big Chances Conceded
  • 15th for xG Conceded
  • 15th for Xgnp Conceded

So hold on to Mitoma for the next few weeks. However, the only drop of vinegar in this seemingly creamy bowl of milk is the fact that Mitoma played 90 mins against Ajax on Thursday.

Ollie Watkins (£8.3m) – FWD, Aston Villa – 36.9% TSB

The man with a rich vein of form, Watkins is a must-have for this week. Watkins has plundered 53 points in the last 5 games with 4 assists and 5 goals. He has been more lethal in home matches

  • GW2 – 5 points vs EVE
  • GW5 – 5 points vs CRY
  • GW7 – 23 points vs BHA
  • GW9 – 11 points vs WHU

Hence it is not a surprise that he is the leading FPL point scorer in home matches so far.

And guess what, he faces Luton at home. The same Luton who has conceded the highest goals and highest big chances in away matches this season.

Ensure you have him in your team. He is also a spicy differential captain pick.

FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Marcus Rashford (£8.7m) – MID, Manchester United – 17.2% TSB

FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Sell ~ Rashford

“You either die a hero or live to become the villain”

What an FPL asset Rahford was last season at just £6.5m.Alas, he has been the biggest disappointment in terms of FPL this season. He failed to live up to his lofty price tag and his own standards of last season. He has already seen his price drop thrice. He has not returned a goal or an assist in his last five matches which included the likes of Burnley and Sheffield.

Man Utd face the juggernaut of Man City this GW. Although Rashford has already scored in a big match this season (against Arsenal), there are far better-performing midfielders in that price range with juicier fixtures. I suggest you amicably part ways with the Man Utd MF this week.

Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m) – MID, Brentford – 19.4% TSB

FPL Gameweek 10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Sell ~ Mbeumo

Speaking of £6.5m midfielders, we had a plethora of options to choose from. Fair to say. Mbeumo has trumped his compatriots in this price bracket. He had been phenomenal in the first 4 weeks racking up 33 points. But then his returns dried up. A streak of 4 consecutive blanks followed which included oppositions like EVE and NFO. However, he repaid his owners with interest when he returned 14 points against Burnley last week.

But this is where we part ways, I guess. Brentford are ranked 19th in terms of FDR for the next 4 GWs. They face Chelsea, West Ham, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Even in the long-term horizon of GW 10-18, Brentford rank 19th as they face Luton, Brighton, Sheffield, and Villa before blanking in GW18.

Maybe the only window in this period where Mbeumo can make a return to your teams is GW 14-16. But for the immediate short term, he is a SOFT sell.
