Welcome to our FPL GW8 Scout Picks blog. Our fantastic scout @FPLDaggaFC (Do follow him on Twitter) is back with his Scout picks for Gameweek 8, as always our Scout picks are backed up by eye test, stats, and analysis.

Last season our scout picks won 21.5 vs 15.5 against the Official FPL Scout picks. This season we have taken a 4-3 lead heading into GW8.

FPL GW8 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

Easy choice for the Goal Keeper position in our Scout Selection this time around- Highest scoring Goal Keeper this season up against the Worst attacking side in the league at Home. Sheffield are ranked 20th for xG(5.57), Goals scored(5), Big Chances(6) in the league. They are struggling for goals and they will be up against Leno who has most bonus points(8) and most FPL points(36) among Goal Keeper this season. So, the trend is likely to continue.

FPL GW8 Scout Picks- Defenders

After scoring just 5 points from the first 4 games, Kieran Trippier has got 3 consecutive hauls over the last 3 Gameweeks- 8, 18 and 12 points over the last 3 weeks. In fact, no player has scored more FPL Points(38) than Trippier over the last 3 GWs– Thanks to 3 clean sheets and 4 assists during this time.

Trippier is also comfortably Top among Defenders for Big Chances created(4), xGI(1.6), Bonus Points(8) during this time.

Matty Cash should be one of your Top Transfer Targets ahead for FPL GW8 if you don’t own him already. Cash is almost playing as a Right winger while attacking in this tactical set up under Emery which boosts his FPL potential. Cash is Top among defenders for all the attacking metrics this season- Shots inside the Box, Big Chances, xG, xGI and Goals. With Estupinan/Chilwell/Botman all ruled out for GW8 due to injuries, Cash should be your Top Replacement if you don’t own him already ahead of his amazing fixture run for Villa.

Pedro Porro is a great pick atleast for the next 2-3 weeks up against Luton, Fulham and Palace in the next 3 games. Not only there is clean sheet potential in these games, with Porro there is always attacking threat and bonus points as seen with the assist and 3 bonus points vs Liverpool in GW7. Luton also concede lots of chances on their left which should work well for Porro.

Colwill completes the defense in our Scout Selection. Having started all the league games this season, Chelsea/Colwill have kept 3 clean sheets from 7 games. There is another likely clean sheet for Chelsea in GW8 vs Burnley who have the 2nd worst xG(5.78), 2nd least Big Chances(7) this season.

FPL GW8 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Salah has blanked for the first time this season in GW7 as he was unlucky not to get the assist for the Luis Diaz “disallowed” goal. Also Liverpool were reduced to 9 men and Salah was taken off at 73 minutes. Before GW7, Salah had 2 goals, 2 assists from the last 3 games averaging more than 9 points per game. Salah will be up against a Brighton side who are defensively poor conceding 6 goals vs Villa in GW7.

Brighton’s defensive woes- Defense Rank among all teams this season:

• Goals Conceded- 17th
• Big Chances Conceded- 13th
• Expected Goals Conceded- 13th

Son and Maddison up against Luton are the most explosive picks this week. Maddison has 2 goals, 4 assists from 7 games this season and has been the creative force for Tottenham this season. Son has been on a different level since he started playing as a center forward(from GW4)- 6 goals, 43 points from 4 games.

Son Attacking Numbers(Rank)- Since he started playing as a striker(from GW4):

• xG- 2.64(1st among mids, 3rd overall)
• Big Chances- 6(1st among mids, 3rd overall)
• Shots inside the box- 11(2nd among mids, 5th overall)
• FPL Points- 43(1st overall)

Up against a defensively vulnerable Luton side who have no clean sheets so far, Son just edges out Haaland takes up the arm band! Stay tuned for our Weekly Captaincy metrics to confirm your decision!

Doucoure is the ultra-differential pick(0.9% TSB) in our Scout Selection for GW8 up against Bournemouth at home. He has 2 goals, 1 assist but his underlying numbers has been really good and his positions while attacking have been excellent. Only Mbeumo and Bowen have more Big Chances among midfielders than Doucoure this season.

Most Big Chances among Midfielders this season:

• Mbeumo- 7
• Bowen- 7
• Doucoure- 6
• Saka- 6
• Son- 6
• Salah-5

Fun Stat- Doucoure has a nPxG of 2.42 this season which is 5th Highest among Midfielders and more than the likes of Salah and Saka.

FPL GW8 Scout Picks – Forwards

Haaland makes the team like every other week. Haaland has 2 goals, 14 points from last 3 games which is a drop from the lofty standards he has set. However, he still tops the underlying numbers and no one fixture is actually difficult for him to haul. Son vs Luton(A), Salah vs Brighton(A) look great fixtures on paper compared to Arsenal(A). Like mentioned previously, it’s a close call between Haaland/Son/Salah on who you want to captain this week depending on how much risk you want to take!

Watkins completes the Scout team coming on the back of a massive 23 point haul- 3 goals, 2 assists vs Brighton in GW7. Not just for this week, Villa have a good fixture swing and Watkins has good underlying numbers to continue his form as mentioned in the GW8 Transfer Targets article!
