Matty Cash, Aston Villa, £4.9m

Projected Points(GW8- GW12): 21.3

FPL GW8 Transfer Targets- Cash

Matty Cash has been really good this season- 2 goals, 1 assist, and 2 clean sheets from 7 games so far which are excellent numbers for a defender. These attacking returns are not a fluke as Cash is essentially playing as a right winger for Villa this season occupying attacking positions and taking shots. His 11 shots inside the box is comfortably top among all the defenders. He already rose in price 4 times this season and is currently at 4.9 million but it is still not too late to get him in your team!

Cash season heatmap from Sofa Score

His underlying numbers are so good- Top among all the defenders as seen below.

Cash- Attacking Rank among Defenders

  • Expected Goal Involvement- 1st
  • xG- 1st
  • Shots inside the Box- 1st
  • Big Chances- 1st
  • Shots- 1st
  • Goals- 1st

Villa’s fixtures are really good from GW8-GW14 and even a Villa triple-up is not at all a bad option. Along with attacking returns, these fixtures promise clean sheets as well.

Son Heung-min, Tottenham, £9.3m

Projected Points(GW8- GW12): 32.5

FPL GW8 Transfer Targets- Heung Min Son

Heung Min Son has been flourishing and is back to form playing as a striker from GW4 getting 6 goals in the last 4 games. He is still only owned by 24% of the total FPL managers and could be a great pick for this fixture run from GW8. Spurs have been good overall as an attacking unit under Ange and Son being at the end of this makes things easier for us. Since GW4, Spurs rank 2nd for Goals(11), 4th for Big Chances(13), and 1st for Shots inside the box(49) in the entire league.

Son since GW4- when he started to play as a striker(Rank among all players):

  • Expected Goal Involvement- 3.3(4th)
  • xG- 2.64(3rd)
  • Big Chances- 6(3rd among all players, 1st among mids)
  • Goals- 6(1st)
  • Shots inside the box- 11(4th)
  • FPL Points- 43(1st)

Son’s next 5 fixtures are really good that he is even a good differential captain choice in GW8(vs Luton) and GW9(vs Fulham).

Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa, £8.0m

Projected Points(GW8- GW12): 25.9

FPL GW8 Transfer Targets- Watkins

Watkins is the Highest scoring player in the game so far at 54 points – Thanks to his massive 23-point haul in GW7. Getting Watkins now after this haul is not essentially points chasing as he still has good underlying numbers and fixtures to continue his form.

Aston VillaWOL (A)WHU (H)LUT (H)NFO (A)FUL(H)

The next few fixtures are not very difficult for Aston Villa and Watkins has a decent haul potential in all of the next five games. This can be seen in his points projection numbers as well, Watkins has a points projection of 25.9 from GW8-12 which is the 2nd highest amongst forwards only behind Haaland!

  • Touches in the box: 49 (2nd amongst all players)
  • Non Penalty xG: 2.98 (5th highest amongst forwards)
  • Shots: 22 (2nd highest amongst forwards)
  • Shots inside the box: 21 (2nd highest amongst forwards)
  • Goal Involvement: 10 (Highest amongst forwards)
  • Chances created: 15(2nd highest amongst forwards)
  • BPS: 187(2nd highest amongst forwards)
  • Big Chances: 7(Joint 4th highest amongst forwards)

“His commitment with the work tactically that we have to do not only in the attacking third but as well when we are defending.

“And then he has the quality when there are spaces to attack, like today was fantastic, and today he played amazing.

“We helped him try and get on to good balls, and his finishing today was amazing. We are working with him individually, but he always wants to work more than we are trying to do with him.”
