What an amazing week GW7 was. All the popular assets returned points – Alvarez, Bowen, Trippier, Son, Saka, Morris, Ødegaard. However, the week belonged to one man and one man only. To be fair, Watkins had blanked only once away at Anfield till GW6. So his haul was not a surprise. But T-W-E-NT-Y—-T-H-R-E-E points was a surprise for sure. GW8 promises to be a roller coaster. A lot of casualties owing to suspensions and injuries with an impending international break, post which there is a striking fixture swing for at least 5-6 clubs. In fact, the most strategic decision this week would not be whom to buy/ sell; but whether to use the Wildcard or hold for one last week.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

The Sons
Son Heung-min (£9.4m) – MID, Spurs – 30.6% TSB
James Maddison (£8.0m) – MID, Spurs – 35.2% TSB
So far, Spurs has taken an astonishing 138 shots. To put it in perspective, Man City has only 127. No team has scored more away goals than Spurs. They face Luton away from home, who have not managed to keep a single clean sheet this season. Son and Maddison have 12 Goal Involvements between them so far. Son has scored 43 points in the last 4 games and is a popular captaincy option. While Maddison is the creator in chief, leading the league for final 3rd passes, successful final 3rd passes, corners and key passes. In away games, Son and Maddison are ranked 1st and 2nd in terms of FPL points scored. A double up is preferred, owning one is almost essential.
Fun fact – Luton’s xGC at home is better than Man City

Dominic Solanke (£6.4m) – FWD, Bournemouth – 2.8% TSB
If you are looking for a budget differential look no further than Solanke. Solanke already has 3 goals and 1 assist even though he has played Liverpool, Tottenham, Brentford, Chelsea, Brighton & Arsenal. Very few teams have such nice fixtures in the short run
Everton, Wolves and Burnley have kept a combined 1 clean sheet in 21 games; that 1 going to Wolves against Everton only.
Solanke’s underlying stats are very impressive. He leads elite strikers like Alavarez and Darwin for xG, xGNP, xG Open Play and Shots in the Box
Solanke is Bournemouth’s talisman attacker with 31 points with the next highest being Ryan Christie’s 17. So if in these 3 games, Bournemouth scores and most likely they will…quite a few of them, Solanke will be involved in majority of them. At that price point, he can be a cheap enabler for the big guns like Salah, Haaland and Son for Wildcarders too.

Surviving Liverpool Attackers
Mohamed Salah (£12.6m) – MID, Liverpool – 33.1% TSB
Luis Díaz (£7.5m) – MID, Liverpool – 9.6% TSB
Darwin Núñez (£7.4m) – FWD, Liverpool – 12.3% TSB
Liverpool had a very unfortunate game against Spurs. Lady Luck just refused to be on the side of Klopp’s men. Diaz had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside, which would have been an assist for Salah. Darwin was about to come on when Jota got sent off and Klopp had to sacrifice bringing on the Uruguayan.
But now with Jota suspended and Gakpo injured, these three gentlemen and nailed to start against a BHA defence which has failed to keep a clean sheet this season. In the last match, they conceded S-I-X
Among MF, Salah is ranked 1st for Big Chances Created and 2nd for xGI & xA
Among MF, Diaz is ranked higher than even Salah for xGNP and xG Open Play
Among FWD, Darwin leads even Haaland for xGI, xGNP, Pts per 90 mins
So although, the owners had a tough day in GW7, I would recommend holding Salah, Díaz & Núñez for this GW

Bernd Leno (£4.7m) – GKP, Fulham – 16.1% TSB
Leno faces a Sheffield side who are low in confidence after losing with a combined score line of 0-10 in the last two matches. In fact SHU attack this season
- 20th for xG
- 20th for xGNP
- 20th for xG Open Play
- 20th for Shots
- 20th for Big Chances
- 20th for Goals Scored
Leno on the other hand is ranked (among GKP)
- 1st for FPL points
- 1st for Bonus points
- 1st for BPS
- 1st for Clean Sheets
With the other popular GKPs Areola, Ederson, Onana all facing tough fixtures or not performing as well, Leno can catapult you higher in your mini leagues

FPL Gameweek 8 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Eberechi Eze (£6.2m) – MID, Crystal Palace – 6.1% TSB
Eze has not lived up to the preseason hype with just 25 points in 7 games and now faces a lengthy period on the sidelines. Roy Hodgson has confirmed Eberechi Eze has suffered a serious hamstring injury and will be out for several weeks. With fixtures turning fast and Wildcards flying left, right and centre, it is advisable to cut the losses and move on to better assets who are priced at a similar price point like Diaby, Neto, Bowen or James Ward-Prowse

Aaron Ramsdale (£4.9m) – GKP, Arsenal – 10.9% TSB
Ramsdale is still the 7th highest selected GKP ahead of the likes of Alisson, Sanchez, Martinez, Vicario and even the person he has lost his spot to – David Raya. When budgets are at a premium, keeping £4.9m in the bank for a non-playing GKP who blocks a spot for an Arsenal asset is criminal. I suggest you sell him for any one of the GKPs mentioned above who are more nailed and have better fixtures in the short term.
