£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist for the 2023/24 FPL Season

Salah, Rashford, Bruno, Saka, etc- These are the kind of tempting midfielders every FPL manager would love to own at some point in the season. But to own these players you have to have a structure to your team with good bench fodders/enablers in the form of 4.0 Million defenders/4.5 Million midfielders. Last year we had Andreas Pereria at 4.5 Million who was a great option throughout the season registering 4 goals and 10 assists totalling 123 points. But this time FPL have made it difficult to find some good 4.5 million starting midfielders this season. In this article, we take a detailed look at the potential £4.5 Million FPL Midfielders for the upcoming 2023/24 season who could start most games.

Best 4.5 Million FPL Midfielders

Marvelous Nakamba, Luton Town

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Marvelous Nakamba

Marvelous Nakamba joined Luton Town on loan for the second half of last season and was a regular starter for Luton helping them gain promotion. He’s now joined Luton on a permanent transfer ahead of the 2023/24 season. He’s another defensive midfielder, so do not expect goals/assists but should be a guaranteed starter to fetch 2 points every week. Nakamba managed 20 appearances for Luton after joining in February, averages 83 minutes/app, and did not have any goal involvement.

He is the only nailed 4.5 million midfielder we have at the moment.

Talented midfielder Ahamada could have his breakthrough season at Crystal Palace this year having joined the South London club in the January window. He was part of the Juventus academy and later a first-team player at VFL Stuttgart. Ahamada is a central midfielder and has been impressive in pre-season with a goal and 2 assists in 3 games so far in pre-season.

Elliot Anderson, Newcastle United

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist ~ Elliott Anderson

Elliot Anderson(4.5 Mid) has been in great form during pre-season and has a decent chance to at least start the initial few games. Howe generally integrates new signings slowly and this means Tonali and Barnes might not start right away from GW1. Murphy and Longstaff are coming back from injury and will be handled carefully which improves the mins chance for Anderson. Anderson can play in attack but also in midfield as a number 8.

Anderson playing position vs Brighton

  • Goal and assist vs Gateshead – 72 mins
  • Assist vs Rangers – 62 mins
  • Goal and Assist vs Aston Villa – 45 mins
  • Did not play vs Chelsea
  • Two goals vs Brighton – 90 mins

Drawbacks: Tough fixtures for Newcastle to begin the season and if he doesn’t play then FPL managers will sell him which will cause a drop in team value if you still hold him.

Carney Chukwuemeka, Chelsea

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Carney Chukwuemeka

Carney Chukwuemeka moved to Chelsea last season from Aston Villa and had a frustrating season featuring only 14 times in the Premier League with only 2 starts. He could head out on loan only if Chelsea finds enforcements in midfield, Chukwuemeka also has the chance to impress new manager Pochettinho and earn a playing spot.

He was a victim of manager changes after signing for Chelsea to play under Tuchel, who lost his job within a few weeks of Carney Chukwuemeka joining Chelsea.

He has also featured regularly in pre-season under Poch and has picked up two assists, still not a guaranteed starter but one to keep track on!

Jaden Philogene

Jaden Philogene is another Villa talent to monitor this season and is expected to stay at Villa instead of heading out on another loan after impressing Emery. He has a goal and an assist in pre-season for the Villains and could be a 4.5 Million bench option.

He was at Cardiff City season and although he’s primarily a winger he was used in various postions which shows his versatility which could be handy for Emery and Villa with European competition in their schedule as well this season.

Boubacar Traoré, Wolves

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Boubacar Traoré, Wolves

Traore is another £4.5 Million FPL Midfielder option from Wolves that has a decent starting potential. He’s a defensive midfielder and now that Neves has left Wolves, Boubacar Traoré could feature regularly especially if they don’t sign a direct replacement.

Tanguy Ndombele, Spurs

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Tanguy Ndombele

Spurs record signing Tanguy Ndombele is back after a decent loan spell with Napoli where he won the Italian league. He was not a regular starter for Napoli and started only 12 times across all competitions last season. Ndombele is now back at Spurs and the new manager Ange Postecoglou mentioned that he’s been working hard but also added that nothing has been decided on the long term.

Ndombele could emerge as a 4.5 Midfielder option if he features regularly in pre-season and ends up staying at Spurs. Let’s wait and watch on this one!

Note: He was not involved much in pre-season due to a knock sustained in training, Ndombele might not be an option in the end!

Gustavo Scarpa, Nottingham Forest

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Gustavo Scarpa

Gustavo Scrapa was first signed by Nottingham Forest last summer but the Brazilian attacker joined the club only in Jan after staying back in Brazil on loan to help his club Palmeiras win the League and along the process he also won the golden ball.

The attacking midfielder played in six Premier League games(Only two starts) and ten games in total for Forest in the 2nd half of last season. However he did not manage a goal or assist, he was unfortunate with injuries and off-field issues(He was victim of a crypto scam back home in Brazil) which hampered him from settling down properly. A full pre-season would probably offer a fresh start for Gustavo Scrapa and if he performs well he could force his way into the starting 11 for Nottingham Forest under Cooper.

Amad Diallo, Man United

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Amad Diallo

Man United paid big money to sign Amad Diallo from Atalanta a few years back, the promising youngster spent last season on loan at Sunderland and impressed everyone. He scored 14 goals and made 3 assists which earned him the Sunderland young player of the year. There are reports that Burnley are interested in signing him on loan and if he moves to Burnley or another PL club he could be a great option considering the fact that he’s an attacker and not a defensive or central midfielder.

Amad played in various attacking roles at Sunderland last season!

Sambi Lokonga, Arsenal

Sambi Lokonga is expected to leave Arsenal with the North London club looking to cash in on him. He spent the second half of last season at Crystal Palace and started the initial few games after joining Palace but under Roy Hodgson, he was benched frequently. The former Anderlecht captain is however linked with a move to Burnely and has previously played under Kompany at Anderlecht.

He has also missed Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Adidas HQ, Germany which further adds to the speculation that he’ll be on the move soon!

Lokonga is a defensive midfielder so don’t expect attacking returns if he moves to another PL club and becomes a regular starter.

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: James McAtee, Man City

James McAtee played a key role in Sheffield United’s successful season which saw them get promoted to the Premier League from the Championship. McAtee played as a central midfielder/attacking midfielder registering 9 goals and 3 assists for Sheffield United in 38 games.

McAtee is now back to his parent club Man City and for now isn’t expected to go out on another loan to Sheffield or some other club. It’s been reported that Pep wants him to be involved in the first team next season and any loan moves would be blocked as it stands. At the same time, Sheffield United are optimistic that they can have McAtee back once again. Let’s wait and watch where James McAtee is at the end of the transfer window.

An injury also prevented James McAtee miss the U21 Euros which England won.

Tommy Doyle, Man City

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Tommy Doyle

Tommy Doyle was the other Man City loanee who was at Sheffield last season, Premier League doesn’t allow a club to two loan players from the same club. This means Sheffield have to try and sign one of Doyle/McAtee permanently and try to loan the other player. Doyle played 33 games for Sheffield last season mostly in CM/CDM roles registering 3 goals and 4 assists during the season. He was also part of the England U21 Euro-winning team during the off-season. He’ll be surely in heavy demand and it remains to be seen if he goes back to Sheffield!

Facundo Pellistri, Man United

£4.5 Million FPL Midfielders Watchlist: Facundo Pellistri

This one is a long shot, Man United youngster Pellistri is one of the several options available to play as a RW under Ten Hag. If Ten Hag decides to keep Amad at Man United this season then there is a chance Pellistri heads out on loan. Last season he made only 11 appearances for Man United but he was part of the Uruguay squad at the World Cup and started two games at the World Cup!

If he’s available on loan then there could be a lot of interest from Premier League clubs.

Mads Bidsturp, Brentford

Brentford’s Danish midfielder Bidsturp could break into the Brentford team at some point this season, the former RB Leipzig U19 player spent last season on loan at FC Nordsjaelland, played regularly and had a good season. He is expected to stay at Brentford this season. A really long shot with his prospects of starting right away looking bleak but he’s a player to keep an eye on during pre-season. He’s another player who mainly plays CM/CDM positions!
