2023/24 FPL Season Schedule: Key Dates, Information & Timeline

The 22nd FPL season begins on Friday, 11th August 2023 and in this blog, we’ll list down all the key dates related to the 2023/24 FPL season including the potential blank and double gameweeks for the season.

We already have the full timeline of the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup for the 2023/24 season alongside the Club World Cup which will happen in December.

Timeline of the 2023/24 FPL Season

  • Midweek between GW1 and GW2: Manchester City will have a mid-week game between GW1 and GW2 against Sevilla for the UEFA Super Cup.
  • Midweek between GW2 and GW3: UECL qualifiers(Leg 1) for Aston Villa
  • Midweek between GW3 and GW4: UECL qualifiers(Leg 2) for Aston Villa and Carabao Cup for teams not playing in Europe(12 teams)
  • After GW4, there will be the first international break of the season.
  • Midweek between GW5 and GW6: UCL/UEL/UECL Matchday 1 – Manchester City, Arsenal, Man United, Newcastle, Liverpool, Brighton, and Aston Villa* will be involved.
  • Midweek between GW6 and GW7: EFL Cup Round 3
  • Midweek between GW7 and GW8: UCL/UEL/UECL Matchday 2
  • After GW8, there will be the second international break of the season.
  • Midweek between GW9-GW10: UCL/UEL/UECL Matchday 3
  • Midweek between GW10 and GW11: EFL Cup 4th Round
  • Midweek between GW11-GW12: UCL/UEL/UECL Matchday 4
  • After GW12, there will be the third international break of the season.
  • Midweek between GW13-GW14: UCL/UEL/UECL Matchday 5
  • Midweek between GW14 and GW16: GW15 deadline(First midweek FPL deadline)
  • Midweek between GW16-GW17: UCL/UEL/UECL Matchday 6
  • Midweek between GW17-18: EFL Cup quarter-finals & Club World Cup
  • GW18 will be a Blank Gameweek for Manchester City & Brentford due to Club World Cup.
  • GW19 will be a midweek deadline and the last gameweek to play the first wildcard

2023 Club World Cup Schedule

Club World Cup begins on 12 December and ends on 22 December. Manchester City(Being Champions League Winner) will be involved in this. As a result, Both Manchester City and Brentford will blank in GW18.

  • Quarter-final – Saturday 16 March 2024 (Clashes with FPL GW29, Blank Gameweek)
  • Semi-final – Saturday 20 April 2024 (Clashes with FPL GW34, Could be blank + double gameweek)
  • The Final – Saturday 25 May 2024

2023/24 Premier League Winter Break

2023/23 Premier League Winter Break

During the 2023/24 FPL season, there will be a mid-season player break which will take place between January 14-20. There will also be lesser fixtures than usual during the boxing day period, as you can see below there are also only two deadlines during the whole of January due to the Winter break, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup games.

  • 23rd December: Blank Gameweek 18 deadline (Man City involved in Club World Cup)
  • 26th December: Gameweek 19 deadline
  • 30th December: Gameweek 20 deadline
  • 13th January: Gameweek 21 deadline
  • 30th January: Gameweek 22 deadline

2023/24 Expected Blank/Double Gameweeks

  • GW2: Luton and Burnley will be a confirmed blank gameweek
  • GW18: Blank for Man City vs Brentford (Clashes with Club World Cup), Only one blank fixture
  • GW26: Clashes with Carabao Cup Finals, Maximum of 2 blank fixtures
  • GW29: Clashes with FA Cup Quarterfinals, Expected 4-6 blank fixtures
  • GW34: Clashes with FA Cup Semifinals, blank/double gameweek
  • GW37: Expected big double gameweek of the season

2023/24 Season International Breaks

There will be four international breaks during the 2023/24 premier league season

  • September: After GW4, there will be the first international break of the season.(September 2 -16)
  • October: After GW8, there will be the season’s second international break. (October 7 -21)
  • November: After GW12, there will be the third international break of the season. (November 11 – 25)
  • March: After GW28, there will be the fourth and last international break of the season (March 16 – 30)
