FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold & Sell

A quick turnaround this week means a short, crisp piece for this week’s moves. An eventful top-of-the-table clash and a notable loss for Brighton who showed signs of fatigue are key talking points as we move to FPL Double Gameweek 34.

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.5, DEF, Liverpool)

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY ~ Trent Alexander Arnold

Trent’s much-talked-about tactical switch into a central midfield role has led to 5 assists in 4 games. Liverpool play twice at Anfield in DGW34 and have 4 of their next 5 league games at home where they’ve traditionally been good. While doubts about Liverpool’s defense are fair, Trent’s grabbing the attacking returns with strong BPS data means there’s haul potential of Trent of old. With the season winding down to an end and not much cash needed to spread around with budget options aplenty, I like Trent for a move this week.

Again, not mentioned Salah as a Buy as I already did so a week ago but goes without saying that he’s still my top option to bring in this week ahead of the home double.

2. Marcus Rashford (7.1, MID, Manchester United)

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY ~ Marcus Rashford

I did suggest selling him a few weeks ago when injury news about him wasn’t positive and I did mention that if was fit and had minutes in his legs before DGW34, he could be brought back in.

Rashford looks fit again and comes in ahead of a good DGW and a very good-looking season run-in schedule. Rashford at his best was rivaling Haaland for captaincy not too long ago and while I’m not sure I’d move away from the robot too much, Rashford is an easy transfer in this week even for a hit if necessary. Against Spurs, Rashford recorded his 29th goal in all competition and grabbed the assist for the first goal as well for a 12-point return. The Man United attacker had an xG of 0.94(3rd highest in GW33) and two big chances(2nd highest in GW33).

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Diogo Jota (8.8, FWD, Liverpool)

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD ~ Jota

FPL managers who brought Jota in off the back of a weekend brace were met with a 1-point and a 59th-minute substitution. Luis Diaz is building up fitness again while Nunez could slot in for either Gakpo or Jota which is not a worry for owners already.

Even though there’s a good chance Jota is rotated once in DGW34, I think he’s still well worth a hold due to his potential to grab a return even in 30 minutes off the bench if the rotation does come in. He might be a candidate for a sale down the line but for the upcoming DGW, he’s an easy hold.

In the 59 minutes against West Ham, Jota had two big chances with a total xG of 0.60. Liverpool created four big chances in the game and Jota had half of them which shows he’s always going to be getting good goal-scoring chances.

Gabriel Martinelli (6.9, MID, Arsenal)

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD ~ Martinelli

50k transfers out already for the Brazilian who was ineffective and subbed out early against Manchester City in a game that surely must’ve hurt the morale of a young Arsenal side. Nonetheless, we’d expect them to go on and try to do the job from their end towards the league title and make City have to work for their win. Martinelli has benefitted most from Jesus’ return to fitness and gets into great goalscoring positions with Jesus floating out wide to vacate space. If there’s an Arsenal asset worth holding through a difficult run-in and no DGWs – Martinelli is the one I’d pick.

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Gabriel (5.3, DEF, Arsenal)

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL ~ Gabriel

Arsenal haven’t kept a clean sheet in over 6 league games now and look much leakier after Saliba’s injury. Gabriel and Arsenal have difficult games and no DGW on the horizon. Even though I (as a Chelsea fan), fully expect a clean sheet for him this week while also acknowledging that Chelsea are poor at defending set-plays, I’m not averse to a transfer out for Trent this week or for someone else with more fixtures or a cheaper price in an upcoming GW.

Since Saliba’s injury(GW28 onwards) Arsenal have conceded an xGC of 12.3 in six games which is the third worst in the league. They have also not kept a clean sheet during the period and conceded 13 goals. Before Saliba’s injury, Arsenal were conceding 1.1 xGC/90 which has gone up to 2.0 xGC/90 now.

Bukayo Saka (8.3, MID, Arsenal)

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL ~ Saka

The same fixture reasons as above are the chief reason to sell Saka. I’m recommending a sell for him and hold for Martinelli based on a cheaper price for the latter and more impressive underlying numbers off late. Saka will still be a good option moving forward however I think at his price, there’s potential to move to DGW assets like Rashford, Bruno, Grealish, etc, and put yourself in a position to catch a haul.
