Top FPL GW34 Differential Picks (<10% ownership)

Bruno Fernandes vs Villa(H), Brighton(A), £9.4m, TSB: 6.9%

5, 3, 3- A total of 11 points over the last 3 Gameweeks does not do justice to what Bruno Fernandes has been cooking over the last 3 games. He has been unlucky not to return with a haul especially against Spurs. Over the last 3 games, Bruno has accumulated a xGI of 2.9 and 5 Big Chance involvements just for one attacking return. Bruno usually performs well in Double Gameweeks and this might be the week where he goes really big. He should be one of your Top transfer targets if you are chasing ranks.

Bruno Fernandes numbers since GW31:

  • Expected Goal Involvement– 2.9(1st among mids, 4th overall)
  • Big Chances created– 4(1st overall)
  • Expected Assists– 1.94(1st overall)
  • Shots inside the Box– 7(Joint 2nd among mids)
Bruno Heatmap vs Spurs(From Fantasypaedia)

Bruno took up really good attacking spaces playing as a No.10 against Spurs as seen above. He plays as a #10 when playing with Casimero and Eriksen. He was taking up a deeper role without Casimero/Eriksen. With Casimero and Eriksen both fully fit, Ten Haag wouldn’t want to change this fantastic midfield 3. In fact, Manchester United have not lost a game when Bruno, Eriksen and Casimero have started together- Played 19, Won 15, Drawn 4.

Bruno Fernandes also has a good record vs both Villa and Brighton. Against Brighton, Bruno has 4 goals, 2 assists from 6 games. Against Villa, Bruno has 5 goals, 1 assist from 5 games.

Riyad Mahrez vs Fulham(A), West Ham(H), £7.3m, TSB: 4.4%

Riyad Mahrez is always an explosive FPL asset when he starts. He did get a hattrick vs Sheffield United in FA Cup semis- Only to be benched by Pep in GW33 vs Arsenal. That sums up Mahrez as an FPL option. You should know the right time to get him in and he always carries the haul potential. Mahrez’s excellent xGI/90 of 0.58 is only bettered by Salah(0.72) and KDB(0.75). Mahrez is likely to return whenever he starts a game. Mahrez will also be on penalties if Haaland is not on the pitch. Haaland is expected to removed early in the second half if the win is secured.

With City going through a Sunday-Wednesday- Saturday- Tuesday turn around in the upcoming weeks, there will be rotation for sure. Mahrez did not start in GW33, which suggests that he could get the nod vs Fulham in the first game. He is likely to start the Fulham and come in off the bench in the West Ham game.

Mahrez attacking rank among Midfielders(Per 90)- Low minutes players excluded

  • Expected Goal Involvement– 3rd(Only behind Salah and KDB)
  • Big Chances– 6th

Mahrez when he has started(Since the World Cup):

  • Starts: 11
  • Goals: 3
  • Assists: 6

Note: If you are bringing in Mahrez, be prepared to get 100-120 minutes across the Double Gameweek. Despite the minutes risk, he is still a great punt for DGW34.

Robertson vs Spurs(H), Fulham(H), £6.8m, TSB: 6.6%

Robertson has gone under the radar rightfully due to TAA’s recent attacking form(5 assists from last 4 matches). But there is no ruling out of Doubling up of TAA and Robbo which could be a good option to catch up the ranks. Over the last 4 matches, Robertson has created 3 Big Chances(Joint 2nd), xA-1.45(3rd), 9 key passes(4th) among defenders. Robertson is also on some corners and in-direct Free kicks which increase his attack potential as well as bonus potential.

Robertson Heatmap since the World Cup:

Heatmaps from FFFix

Liverpool are not strong defensively but they are a better defensive side at home. From 15 home games, Liverpool have 7 Clean Sheets and have conceded only 13 goals- Third best in the league. So there could be a clean sheet as well.

Diogo Jota vs Spurs(H), Fulham(H), £8.9m, TSB: 5.5%

After getting back-to-back double digit hauls in GW31(16 points) and GW32(13 points), Jota disappointed his new owners in GW33 blanking and also getting subbed off at 58 minutes to get only one point. It was due to a knock in the back, but he should be all right as per Klopp.

Latest on Jota injury– Quote from Klopp in his pre-match press conference:

“Diogo got a bad knock in his back but should be alright, we will see how that developed.”

Liverpool players sorted by xG over the last 3 matches:

Data from FFHub, Signup for full access to Opta Stats, Heatmaps, and more

Jota comfortably tops all the attacking metrics even ahead of Salah- Top for xG, Big Chances, Shots inside the box, etc. 6 Big Chances, 2.59 xG over 3 games are excellent underlying numbers. Not just among the Liverpool team, his underlying numbers are one of the best in the league which makes him a great option to punt on at just 5.5% ownership.

Jota attack rank in the league over the last 3 Gameweeks:

  • xG– 2nd(Only behind Haaland)
  • Big Chances– 1st
  • Shots– 3rd
  • FPL Points– 1st

Ruben Dias vs Fulham(A), West Ham(H), £6.0m, TSB: 7.3%

Dias comes in as the “safest” City defender till the end of the season. He is one of the first names on the team sheet despite the tight schedule as Dias is integral part of City defense. City have been unlucky in recent weeks not to get a clean sheet conceding a late goal after securing the win. But their underlying defense numbers are still strong- Least Big Chances conceded(4), Least xGC(4.22) over the last 6 games.

One of City’s opponents in DGW34 Fulham are ranked 20th for Big Chances(13) and Expected Goals(11.54) since GW21. The other game is against West Ham at Home. West Ham are poor away from home scoring only 12 goals from 15 away games which is the 3rd lowest among all teams from away this season. So there could be a minimum of 1 clean sheet for City from 2 games in GW34.

Ultra-Differential Pick for FPL GW34

Anthony Martial vs Villa(H), Brighton(A), £6.3m, TSB: 1.5%

Tony Gloves makes the cut as the ultra- differential pick for GW34. First things first, Martial is injury prone and returning from an injury so expect only around 100 minutes across GW34 if you are bringing him in. But despite that, he is worth taking a chance. Martial returned from injury in GW29 to take 3 appearances off the bench before getting the start vs Forest in GW31. In that game he looked good on the eye test with 2 big chances, xG- 0.74 and managed to get an assist and 5 points.

As Martial was rested in GW33 vs Spurs, expect Martial to start at least one game in GW34 if not both the games. Martial also has a good matchup in one of the games in DGW34. Brighton have conceded 31 chances from the center over the last 6 matches which is the 2nd highest among all the teams in the league. This should work well in Martial’s favour as he plays through the center.
