It’s almost time for FPL restart after a mid-season break for the World cup. FPL has offered unlimited transfers for managers going into GW17 of the 2022/23 FPL Season which means we can make our best possible drafts for gameweek 17 using unlimited transfers(Explained about the same below). In this blog we list out a few of our drafts with different team structures going into GW17 with pros and cons of each draft, we have also listed the teams with the best & worst fixtures, and players to target in the blog.
Link to all our FPL Gameweek 17 blogs including Confirmed Double Gameweek announcements, Initial GW17 Drafts, Teams and Players to target, Predicted GW17 Lineups, Differentials, players to target, fixture analysis, Captaincy metrics, transfer trends, and more. Completely free to access as well!
Key points about the unlimited transfers going into FPL GW17
- Player prices will be frozen during the World Cup
- You’ll lose team value if you sell a player & buy him back, be careful with unlimited transfers
- The last set of price changes will occur on 13 Nov
- You’ll have two transfers going into GW18 only if you don’t make any transfers during the unlimited transfers period
- The total transfers made will impact your team in the event of a tie-breaker if you’re level with another manager in a classic-scoring league at the end of the season. This doesn’t impact head-to-head leagues or Cups.
- You can play your Bench Boost, Free Hit or Triple Captain if available in GW17. But, you won’t be able to play your Wildcard.
- Player prices will be frozen from after the GW16 deadline until the GW17 deadline at 11:00 GMT on 26 December. Player prices will be “unfrozen” after the GW17 deadline. Any transfers made after the GW17 deadline will contribute to player price changes.
FPL GW17-26 Fixture Ticker
Confirmed Double Gameweeks:
- Five Teams- Manchester City(twice), Fulham, Chelsea, Spurs, and Arsenal are confirmed to have Double Gameweeks from GW19- GW23

- Manchester City is the only team confirmed to have 2 Double Gameweeks- GW20 vs United(A), Spurs(H), and GW23 vs Villa(H), Arsenal(A).
- Chelsea have a Double Gameweek in GW19 vs City, Fulham. They also have two good fixtures before that in GW17, GW18 vs Bournemouth, and Forest making them one of the teams to target initially.
Before going further do vote in FPL GW17 Captaincy Poll below. The metrics has a 12/15 successful returns record this season. Do vote in the captaincy poll for this week below. The captaincy metrics blog from @AK_FPL1 will be posted soon based on the votes.
Teams with good fixture swings from FPL GW17
- Arsenal – Arsenal have been in great form in the first half of the season and currently leads the PL table. Newcastle, Spurs, and Man United in GW19-21 could be tricky but otherwise, the Gunners have some good fixtures. Only Man City have scored more goals(40) than Arsenal(33) so far.
- Man City – Man City start with two exciting fixtures against Leeds and Everton which means going without Man City assets will be a risk. GW19-23 is slightly tricky for Man City but they do have double in GW20 and then one more in GW23.
- Liverpool – Liverpool don’t face a top-six team until GW21 and from GW17 to GW26 they play only two teams from the top six. Although there are some injury issues for Liverpool there are still great options to consider from Liverpool.
- Chelsea- Chelsea have two good games against Bournemouth and Forest before having a double in GW19 against Man City and Fulham. Rotations has always been a problem, especially under Potter but with key players in defence missing the World cup including the likes of James, Cucurella, and Chilwell means we might have some options to consider.
- Man United – Man United are looking good under new manager ETH, the red devils have navigated a tricky run of fixtures and now have a kind run of games with only two fixtures against the big six in the next nine games. Man United assets are kindly priced this season which makes them even more appealing.
- Spurs – Spurs have good first three fixtures before a double in GW20 against Man City and Arsenal. The return of Kulusevski was a much-needed boost and with all attackers including Richarlison, Son, Kane and Kulusevski all available now, the Spurs attack should be once again in FPL radar.
- Southampton – Saints have a new manager, Nathan Jones, and a great run of fixtures from FPL GW17. They don’t face a big six team till GW24 and have only one game against the big six from FPL GW17 to GW26(10 GWs)
- Newcastle – Currently sitting 3rd in the table Newcastle have scored 29 goals(4th highest in the league) and conceded only 11 goals(Lowest in the league) with seven clean sheets(highest in the league). Considering most of their assets are still kindly priced a triple-up is essential!
- Fulham – Fulham are a much stronger side this season under Marco Silva scoring 24 goals in 15 games, which is the 7th highest in the league. Their defence is a definite no go but they do have handy options in Mitrovic, and Andreas Pereira to consider in the attack. Mitrovic exited the WC early with Serbia which would help him recover from the fitness issues which has slightly hindered him this season.
- Brighton – Brighton have settled nicely under De Zerbi, Brighton attack has been really good this season having registered an xG of 26.59(6th highest in the league) from 14 games.

Best FPL GW17 Drafts
Note: Dalot is mentioned in some of the Drafts. He is an injury concern for GW17. Wait for the latest injury news. If he is ruled out, Shaw is a good direct replacement. Botman/White are other good options.
FPL GW17 Draft 1
- Ward and Kepa are the goalkeepers in this draft, Potter sounded positive about Kepa’s return and Ward has been brilliant in the last few games after having a difficult start to the season, in the last 8 games, he has kept 6 clean sheets registering 25 saves, 52 points, and 8 bonus points in the process.
- Trippier is an obvious choice, the Newcastle full-back has registered a whopping 96 points so far with a goal, 4 assists, and 7 clean sheets in 15 games. He’s also recorded 17 bonus points(3rd highest behind Kane and Haaland) and 2nd highest in terms of BPS scoring. Tripper also tops for key passes(34), Big chances created(7), xA(3.9), and assists(4) amongst defenders.
- Although Cancelo’s output has slightly decreased this season, he’s still the safest Man City defender to consider having started all 14 games for Man City this season. Ederson is the only other player to have started all games for city so far this season. He’s had 2 goals, 2 assists, 6 clean sheets, 70 points and 10 bonus points.
- Diogo Dalot at 4.8 Million is a no-brainer, he’s one of the most improved players for Man United this season and has an excellent run of fixtures from FPL GW17. Man United face Forest, Wolves, and Bournemouth in GW17-19 and these three teams are the bottom three for xG so far this season.
- Ben White since making the RB spot his own has been great from both defensive and attacking returns perspective. He costs only 4.7 Million and has registered 66 points already which includes 2 assists. Although Gabriel and Saliba have outscored him, he’s a lot more cheaper than the CB duo as you can use the money elsewhere.
- Bueno is a bit of an enabler in this draft costing only 3.9 Million, it would be a jackpot for FPL managers if he’s the first choice under the new manager Julen Lopetegui. He broke into the side under caretaker boss, Steve Davis in GW12 and since played 90 minutes in the next 5 games.

Midfielders in the draft
- Miguel Almiron is scoring goals for fun this season and is the highest-scoring midfielder in FPL having raked up 93 points from 8 goals and 2 assists. Recently in a friendly vs Al Hilal during the WorldCup break, Almiron registered a brace and rattled the crossbar once after coming in as a second-half substitute. Newcastle won the game 5-0.
- Mo Salah and Bruno Fernandes, the go-to FPL duo from a few seasons back feature in this draft. Mo Salah has not been at his very best this season but has still managed to score a respectable 82 points from 6 goals and 4 assists. He’s scored 3 goals in his last three games which included a 15 point haul against Spurs in GW15. Salah will be raring to go after having had a good break as his national team, Egypt failed to qualify for the WC.
- Bruno Fernandes is increasingly becoming an important player for Man United’s attack under Ten Hag. Now with Ronaldo gone, his goal-scoring output should further increase. He’s been in good form for Portugal at the WC playing in a similar advanced role he had under Ten Hag in the last few games before the WC break. He has made 33 key passes, 8 big chances(2nd best amongst all players), and 4.76 xA.
- Foden is the Man City mid in this draft, he had an amazing few weeks but he was benched by Pep for three games straight after nearly every FPL manager got him in their FPL teams. He however returned to the side in GW16 and scored. If you’re not convinced about his minutes, you can swap out Bruno for KDB and then swap Foden for Rashford.
- Andreas Pereira is a very good enabler and is our 5th midfielder in the draft, Fulham have a double in GW20 and he could be a handy option!

Forwards in the draft
- Erling Haaland needs little justification having scored 18 goals in just 13 games making him the highest-scoring player in FPL so far this season with a whopping 123 points. He’s had a good break during the World cup and will look to come back all guns blazing for the second half of the season.
- Mitrovic is the true definition of talisman, having scored 9 goals in 12 games for Fulham. He has the most shots on goal(56) amongst all forwards and has received 13 out of the 28 big chances Fulham have had so far. His xG/90(0.81) is the 2nd best amongst all forwards & G/90(0.80) is the 3rd best amongst all forwards.
- Callum Wilson has 9 goal involvements in just 786 minutes of PL action(9 starts), he’s on penalties too for Newcastle and is an excellent option at just £7.4 Million.
PS: Keeping the length of the blogs in mind, I’m going to talk about players who are unique in the drafts below.
FPL GW17 Draft 2
- Ramsdale(£4.9 Million) is a great option from a top-six defence and he rotates well with Danny Ward who himself is only £4.1 Million.
- Botman(£4.4 Million) makes up a double Newcastle defence, The magpies defence have conceded the joint lowest goals(11) and joint highest clean sheet(7).
- Gabriel Martinelli(£6.8 Million) has to be one of the best enablers this season scoring 77 points with 5 goals and 4 assists in 14 games. He has both goal-scoring and assist potential which can be seen from his xGI of 8.4(xG of 4.26 and xA of 4.14) which is the joint 3rd highest amongst midfielders.
- Marcus Rashford(£6.7 Million) just like Martinelli is a great option to consider costing under 7.0 Million. He has registered 4 goals and 2 assists so far this season and with Man United having a great run of fixtures from FPL GW17 he could be a good choice to consider. His xGI of 8.4 is the 3rd joint highest alongside Martinelli amongst midfielders.
- Darwin Nunez(£9.0 Million) was in good form before the break scoring 3 goals and registering an assist in the last five games. His xGI of 5.1 was the highest amongst forwards during the period(GW12-16).

FPL GW17 Draft 3
- Saka(£8.0 Million) is a good double-up with Martinelli. Saka has been in good form on England duty at the WorldCup and Arsenal will rely on him for goals now that Jesus is injured.
- Kulusevski’s (£8.0 Million) absence was evidently seen as Spurs struggled for goals. Spurs looked like a much-improved side when he made his return from injury as a sub against Liverpool in GW15. He picked up two assists in 2 games before the break and will be key for Spurs when the league resumes.

FPL GW17 Draft 4
- Che Adams is a decent option to consider at just 6.4 Million, Adams has scored 4 goals so far this season including the first goal under Nathan Jones. The Saints don’t face a big six team until GW24 and Adams could be a good punt to consider in your FPL GW17 draft.
- Kane has been overshadowed by Haaland largely this season but Kane has shown remarkable consistency scoring 12 goals and making 3 assists which has enabled him to reach 102 points, the only other player to score more than 100 points is Haaland(123 points). Kane has blanked only thrice this season which shows his remarkable consistency.
