FPL GW15 Preview & Key Dilemmas Answered

1) Is it worth making high-risk transfers this week?

FPL GW15-16 Fixture ticker

With FPL going on a break for the World Cup after Gameweek 17, we have a two-gameweek window to make any potential gains before the playing field levelled.

It depends on your playing style and where you are placed in terms of rank right now. This is a perfect window if you are a risk-taking manager who likes to chase the upside. You can go for two weeks’ punts and chase FPL points. It will also help you catch up on rank, as only a few other managers might go for these riskier picks.

If you prefer to avoid taking a lot of risks and want to play safe or even protect rank, then look at highly owned players who have haul potential and are missing from your FPL team. Try to get in those players on a priority basis, as they can hurt your rank in the short term.

One thing to note is that your transfers will reset in two weeks. So there is little to lose as you can easily take out the players you dont want from GW17 onwards. Planning for the short term and taking a few chances with your squad is worth a shot. There are potential hauls to target and gain rank.

It is okay if you don’t get it right, but the gains can be massive if you catch a couple of hauls. Worth it, in my opinion, and do think about giving it a shot.

2) What are some good short-term transfers to make? (FPL GW15-16)

What are some good short-term transfers to make? (FPL GW15-16)

There are some excellent short-term punts you can go for from GW15-16. These can help you gain rank and take advantage of specific teams having good fixtures over the next few weeks.

Talking about defenders, you can get Diogo Dalot from Man Utd, who has been in excellent form and is only £4.8m. The only downside with him is that he is on four yellow cards, with a slight risk of suspension. If you dont want to take that risk, get Luke Shaw, who is owned by over 1% of managers in the game right now.

Defenders from Brighton, Everton and West Ham are also worth targeting. All three sides have good fixtures from GW15-16, with some nice differentials to get in your teams. Players like Lewis Dunk and Conor Coady are nailed options in their respective teams and can provide great value. If you want to go cheap, you also have Nathan Patterson (£4m), who has just returned from injury.

Aaron Cresswell(More on Cresswell here) and Kurt Zouma are West Ham players worth considering. While they might not be as appealing as some other players, getting them in for two weeks is worth the risk in the long run.

It feels like midfield and attack are where the real gains lie. Starting with the midfield, if you can afford to get in Kevin De Bruyne, he is a great player to own for the next two gameweeks. He didn’t start the midweek CL game against Sevilla and is also an excellent differential captaincy shout against Fulham in GW15.

James Maddison (More on Maddison on our scout picks) deserves mention if you are looking for a direct replacement for Phil Foden. Many FPL managers have gone a bit cold on the Leicester attacker, but he is still a great option in midfield.

You can also go cheap and target popular options like Trossard and Almiron. Both are in brilliant form right now, and though you might have missed a few hauls from them, both are worth targeting for your FPL teams.

Marcus Rashford is another player who has been in the conversation for quite some time now, and he also merits a place if you are looking for a high-value attacker from a premium team

The following section will cover the forward options, discussing Ivan Toney’s replacements.

3) Who are the best replacements for Ivan Toney ahead of FPL Gameweek 15?

Who are the best replacements for Ivan Toney ahead of FPL Gameweek 15?

Ivan Toney picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Wolves and is out against Nottingham Forest in GW15. After that, he plays Man City in GW16, and this is the best time to take him out and get in a replacement.

Callum Wilson looks like the obvious choice. The Newcastle forward has five attacking returns in the last two fixtures and is in the same price range as Toney. If you want to play it slightly safer but also get in a high-potential player, then Wilson is one.

With some money in the bank, you can go towards Gabriel Jesus. He is the fourth-highest scoring forward in the game right now, and though the next game is CHE(A), Jesus can score against any team.

If you are okay with going a bit risky, then Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton is an interesting shout. He is a bit of an unknown, though, as he has only started three games this season and looks like a shot in the dark. With LEI (H) and BOU (A) next, he seems like the differential to own.

If you want to save some money upfront because you want to invest more money in midfield/defence, then Dominic Solanke is an excellent choice. He is only £5.7m and is a nailed starter in the Bournemouth attack. The following two fixtures are good; you can play him in both if required.

4) What to do with Man City players ahead of FPL GW15?

What to do with Man City players ahead of FPL GW15?

The first name we have to talk about is Erling Haaland. He was taken off at half-time of Manchester City’s goalless draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Post that, he has missed games against Leicester and Sevilla.

🗣️Pep on Haaland in Friday’a press conference:

He’s (Haaland) much better. We will decide today. It’s a good step, he starts to train and we have training this afternoon and we will see.

Via @ManCity

One major positive is that he is back in training. There are doubts about Haaland’s fitness status, and Pep hasn’t ruled him out, and he’s still a decent hold this week.

Coming to other options like Joao Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne, both are perfect holds. The pair didn’t start the Champions League game against Sevilla and look great to start in the Premier League this week.

The situation with Phil Foden is a bit tricky, though. He played the whole game midweek, and there are high chances he won’t start against Fulham in GW15. Pep has rotated him in the last few weeks, and there is a strong possibility of the same happening again this week.

I suggest holding and looking for any leaked lineups or team news before the deadline. If Foden is not starting, midfielders like Maddison, Almiron, and Trossard can replace him and help you take advantage in GW15.

That will be all from this week. Do let me know what you think about these dilemmas. Also, tell me in the comments or drop me a DM on Instagram/Twitter if I have missed out on anything specific.

All the best for FPL Gameweek 15, and I will see you all very soon!
