Welcome back to another edition of the Transfer Trends series, where we look at the Best Transfer Combinations and FPL GW10 Tips. GW9 saw some major swings with close calls like captaincy and between some players on Wildcard. With Haaland obliterating their rivals in a 6-3 win, Salah disappointing against Brighton with coming out with just an assist, let’s see how these are going to affect this week’s transfer combinations.
Before we move into this week’s combinations, let’s take a look at how our picks for GW9 performed. Kulusesvki to Maddison ended up being a very fruitful transfer, where he scored a brace and got an assist in their 4-0 win. He ended up scoring 18 points in GW9! The other two were a bit unexpected with Mitrovic picking up an injury early on in the game, and Zaha blanking.

FPL GW10 Tips | Transfer Deadline
Saturday 8th October at 1:30 PM BST
Top Transfer Ins and Outs ahead of FPL GW10
In the list of most transferred in players ahead of FPL GW10, Brighton’s Trossard tops the list with more than 500k managers tranferring him in already. Another transfer swayed by past week’s performance is Maddison who is brought in by 257k managers.
The Top Transfers out list is majorly dominated by the Liverpool boys after their unexpected performance against Brighton. Trent and Salah, the two ‘FPL GOATS’ have been transferred out by more than 350k managers. With a lot of mid-priced options available in that spot, Diaz is also seen on that list.
FPL GW10 Tips – Best Transfer Combinations
Transfer Combination 1:
Salah (12.8m) to KDB (12.4m)
The most popular transfer combination ahead of FPL GW10 is a premium player switch from Mo Salah to Man City’s KDB. This season, with the emergence of a more reliable captaincy option with a high EO as well, managers are not afraid to move away from the Egyptian King. We are 10 weeks into the season, and it is very root against Erling Haaland. With Haaland’s output, even KDB’s output has risen, he has more assist potential and chances to score.
Man City as a team looks electric as of now. They seem to have found the missing puzzle in their team. KDB’s returns have been consistent this season, with a few double-digit hauls.
Underlying Numbers
Average Statistic per 90 mins | Mohamed Salah | Kevin De Bruyne |
---|---|---|
Expected Goals | 0.46 | 0.28 |
Shots | 3.14 | 3.21 |
Shots on Target | 1.00 | 1.02 |
Shots in Box | 2.57 | 1.02 |
Expected Assists | 0.30 | 0.67 |
Big Chance Created | 0.29 | 1.31 |
From the underlying numbers as well, it can be seen KDB’s playmaking ability has been impressive. With decent chance of scoring goals, and majorly of assisting many of the goals his team scores, he has high chance of appearing on the scoresheet every now and then.
Player Heatmap Comparison
The heatmap shows the usual play style of both the players. As expected, Salah cuts in from the right flank, into the opposition’s box, and having decent scoring opportunities. While KDB plays more in a central role, and is the link between the whole team. His long-range shooting ability is magnificent, thereby giving him enough opportunities to score along with getting assists. He is also on set-pieces and corners, providing even more chances for him to get on the scoresheet.
Fixture Analysis | Man City
When it comes to Manchester City, fixtures rarely matter. As we saw in GW9, they were able to get past the United defence pretty easily. They go on to face Southampton in GW10, which yet again poses a great opportunity for them to go big in. The only concern in their fixture list is that Man City have a blank in GW12. However, you could bench him for one week, or switch him to Son or even back to Salah.
After their blank in GW12, they have an amazing run of fixtures. They go on to face Brighton, Leicester, and Fulham. All the way up until PL goes on a break for the World Cup, Man City assets are great options to own.

Transfer Combination 2:
Diaz (8.1m) to Maddison (8.1m)
The next best transfer combination also involves removing a Liverpool player. They have two back-to-back difficult fixtures. Therefore, it makes sense to remove them and capitalize on points by other in-form players.
Maddison is the man in form right now. He has been on the watchlist for plenty of FPL managers since the past few weeks and was the main target on WIildcard for many. With their good fixtures coming up and performances also improving, it is imperative that you get Maddison in your FPL team. (He was mentioned in the previous week’s edition as well).
Underlying Numbers
Average Statistic per 90 mins | Luis Díaz | James Maddison |
---|---|---|
Expected Goals | 0.36 | 0.22 |
Shots | 2.51 | 3.31 |
Shots on Target | 1.10 | 1.30 |
Shots in Box | 2.20 | 1.30 |
Goal Assists | 0.16 | 0.29 |
Expected Assists | 0.14 | 0.12 |
Big Chance Created | 0.16 | 0.29 |
From the underlying numbers, Maddison has posted amazing stats over the course of the season. His returns have also been fairly consistent. He has scored a 7 pointer 3 times this season. Although his GW9 haul was the first one of the season and are rare, for the price it’s worth having him in our teams.
Player Heatmap Comparison
Luis Diaz’s heatmap has been towards the left flank and is rarely seen entering the box. Although, Maddison also spends most of his time in the midfield spot, his presence on the pitch, and on set-piece duties, he has a high chance of being involved in the goals Leicester score.
Fixtures Analysis | Leicester
Defensive Stats (Rank) | Shots Conceded | SiB Conceded | Shots from Set Piece conceded | Big Chances Conceded | xG Conceded |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Bournemouth | 17th | 16th | 8th | 11th | 17th |
Crystal Palace | 12th | 18th | 20th | 18th | 14th |
Leeds | 8th | 8th | 16th | 16th | 13th |
Leiceseter have amazing fixtures as they go on to face Bournemouth, Palace, and Leeds over the period of the next three weeks. The table above depicts their fixture’s defensive ranking in the league. Bournemouth occurs in the second half of the ranking in most of the parameters considered above. Palace and Leeds have a poor ranking in shots conceded from set-pieces, which directly benefits Maddison’s chances of returning.

Transfer Combination 3:
Pascal Gross (5.9m) to Trossard (6.7m)
The next best transfer combination ahead of FPL GW10 is the switch between Pascal Gross to Trossard. This may seem like a sideways move to make among the Brighton team. However, there has been a major difference in form between the two.
Brighton have decent fixtures and are on an unreal run so far. They are currently 4th in the league with just 1 loss to their name. With decent-looking fixtures ahead, it is worth having the primary scoring player from Brighton in your FPL team.
Underlying Numbers
Average Statistic per 90 mins | Pascal Groß | Leandro Trossard |
---|---|---|
Expected Goals | 0.27 | 0.44 |
Shots | 1.34 | 2.62 |
Shots on Target | 0.74 | 1.23 |
Shots in Box | 0.74 | 2.31 |
Expected Assists | 0.33 | 0.09 |
Big Chance Created | 0.74 | 0.00 |
Trossard’s shooting stats and expected goal stats are much better than that of Gross’. Although Gross has a better assist potential, his chances of scoring are much higher. Among the options available under 7m, Trossard is worth paying the extra premium for.
Player Heatmap Comparison
The above heatmaps show the difference between the positioning of the two players. Trossard tends to get into more scoring chances and inside the opposition’s box as compared to Gross. Gross’ heatmap can be seen swayed a bit to the wider side of the pitch. Basically in FPL terms, it’s better to have Trossard has a higher chance of scoring.
Fixtures | Brighton
Although Brighton face Spurs next week, they have great fixtures all the way up until GW17. Even Spurs are looking a but leaky at the back, in which they might be able to get a few returns. After Spurs, they have Brentford and Nottingham Forest at home.
Therefore, considering their underlying numbers and heatmap, it could be worth making the sideways move to Trossard ahead of FPL GW10.
Conclusion – FPL GW10 Tips
- Do not rage transfer out Mitrovic. He still has great fixtures ahead therefore could be worth holding him
- If you don’t have your Wildcard left, keep the blank in GW12 in mind while making your transfers
- To no surprise, Haaland seems to be the best captaincy option this week (yet again).
- If you want to cover KDB, Foden also seems to be a good punt ahead of GW12
- Hold your Arsenal assets if you still have them in your team, there are chances he could get a few returns against Liverpool next week.
