We have had a flurry of double gameweeks in FPL in the past month or so. Gameweek 28 is no different as 8 teams play twice this week. Chelsea seemingly have the most attractive pair of games. However, there are other attractive propositions too. In this blog, we have identified a few of the top differential options to consider for FPL GW28.

FPL GW28 Differential Picks(<10% TSB)
Thiago Silva vs Burnley(A), Norwich(A), £5.6, TSB:6.0%
It has been a while since we discussed Chelsea in FPL. The Blues have been busy with other competitions and as a result of which they have had a lot of blanks. However, they not only have an attractive double in FPL GW28, but the upcoming fixtures are also tasty too.
As we can see, there is a lot of greenery in the FDR chart. Chelsea’s defense has been ever reliable under their German coach. Tuchel’s men have conceded just 18 goals this season, second best record after Manchester City(17), keeping 11 clean sheets in the process.
Thiago Silva has been on fire all season. The Brazilian has scored 3 goals already this campaign, collecting 100 points in FPL in the process. Despite being 37 years old, Silva has played in all but 2 out of the last 24 matches. He more or less is the first name on the team sheet for Thomas Tuchel.
Thiago Silva- Key Stats
- Eighth best for points among defenders in FPL
- Best conversion rate among defenders
- Norwich and Burnely are two of the worst teams in the league for xG

Kai Havertz vs Burnley(A), Norwich(A), £7.8, TSB:3.2%
It has been very tricky to pick attackers from Chelsea in the past couple of seasons. Most of them barring Mason Mount ups and downs. They keep going in and out of the starting eleven. Having said that, if you have been watching Chelsea while they have been away from the Premier League, you would have observed that Kai Havertz has been putting up consistent performances. The German has 2 goals in his last 4 matches.
There aren’t enough stats to make a claim for Kai Havertz. However, he had 3 big chances in the Champions League game against Lille, out of which he took one of them. He created two big chances in the Carabao Cup final, both of which were missed by Mount and Lukaku respectively.
Picking Havertz is a bit of a gamble. However, if you are a manager looking for a rank climb and are willing to bet on a left-field choice, then the German is your man. He has the form and the fixtures to get a big haul. He can be a potential captaincy candidate as well.

Roman Saiss vs Crystal Palace(H), Watford(H) £5.0, TSB:3.4%
After Chelsea, Wolves have best double this GW, with home games against two teams who are loitering in the bottom half the table. Indeed, both Crystal Palace and Watford have struggled for form and goals. In the case of the former, the performances away from home has been a major issue.
Bruno Lage’s men have been defensively solid all season. They have let in a mere 21 goals, which is the 4th best in the league. At home they have given away 10 goals which happens to be the third best record in the league. As far as Crystal Palace are concerned, minus the recent away game at Watford, they have just netted 11 goals in 12 matches on the road. Meanwhile, Watford have found the back of the net only two times since Roy Hodgson arrived, in 6 matches. Therefore the chances of Saiss keeping clean sheets in both matches is high!
The above graphic shows the key stats of the top defenders this season in FPL. Roman Saiss tops the charts for big chances. He has already scored twice, will be looking to extend the tally this week considering the vulnerabilities of his FPL GW28 opponents. Indeed, no team has conceded more goals from set pieces than Crystal Palace(13). Furthermore, Watford have the 7th worst record for the same.
The Midlands side has a great run of fixtures coming, as we can see from the above image. Therefore, the Moroccan is a long term investment for FPL managers ahead of FPL GW28 deadline.

Che Adams vs Aston Villa(A), Newcastle(H), £7.0, TSB:5.8%
Continuing in the order of on paper easy looking fixtures, Southampton are third on the list. The Saints take on a struggling Aston Villa and Newcastle in FPL GW28. Given the form they have been, bringing in their attackers seems like a viable option.
Southampton’s good run of form has coincided with Che Adams finding his feet again. The striker has 3 goals and an assist in the last 4 matches, without registering any blanks. It is the best run he has had in his career since he scored in 6 consecutive games in the Championship back in early 2019.
Three of Southampton’s next 4 games have an FDR rating of 2, including both games following FPL GW28. As a result of which Adams is not just a differential for this week, he is a reasonably long term option.
Key Stats- Che Adams
- 6th best xG(2.25) since GW24
- Joint most number of goals(3) in that time
- Aston Villa are winless in their last 6 home games against Southampton

Joe Willock vs Brighton(H), Southampton(A), £5.7, TSB:2.5%
Joe Willock makes our differential list for the second week running. Let us recall some of the snippets from what we put last week.
Just as we stated he ended up scoring a goal by getting himself into attacking positions. After last week’s goal Willock has 2 goals and an assist in his last three matches and isn’t looking like he is going to stop. We said this last week. We will say it again. Joe Willock is a streak player and he is on one of those at the moment. Time for managers to take a leap of faith and bring him in.
One of Newcastle’s opponents in FPL GW28- Brighton could be the perfect one for the midfielder. Graham Potter’s men have conceded 50% of their chances through the center of the pitch, the joint highest in the league. That is exactly where Joe Willock operates. He tends to arrive late in the box through the middle, as we can see from the above graphic.

Ultra Differential Pick for FPL GW28
Matt Doherty vs Everton(H), £4.7, TSB:0.3%
Well, truth be told, this has been a long time coming. We thought Doherty will become an asset after Nuno came in. However, it has taken the sack of Nuno, the average performances of Emerson under Conte, to give Doherty an opportunity to excel.
Last week at Elland Road, we saw the Wolves version of Doherty altogether. The Irishman registered a goal and an assist and got all 3 bonus points. Spurs have a good run of games coming up and now have no distractions from any other competition.
Here is the thing about Doherty. If he plays he will get himself into goal-scoring positions and is invariably bound to get attacking returns. Despite playing a mere 399 minutes this season, he has had 4 big chances, the joint highest in the league, for defenders.
Spurs take on Everton this week, a team that has the worst record on the road this season. This is a good fixture to target for managers, as far as teams that have only one fixture this week. Spurs have one more double gameweek to be rearranged.
