FPL GW6 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of Gameweek 6 Deadline

GW5 was another decent week majorly for FPL managers with the usual suspects Mo Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo scoring once again. A lot was expected from Wolves defence and attack which didn’t go well with Brentford outplaying them fair and square. Whereas differentials like Pukki, Sarr all returned. Moving on to FPL GW6 which presents us some great fixtures and also with a lot looking to wildcard into GW7/8 presenting the chance to make short-term differential moves to make up for lost places and climb in the rankings. In this blog, we’ll be looking at the top six differential picks for FPL GW6. Link to all our FPL Gameweek 6 blogs.

FPL GW6 Differential picks (<10% TSB)

Ismalia Sarr vs Newcastle United(A),

FPL GW6 ~ Differential pick ~ Ismaila Sarr

A boring differential pick I would say, but don’t worry there are some exciting ones waiting for you.

Sarr has been the talk of the town this week and rightly so, the Watford winger has been on fire this season and has numbers that are so hard to ignore. Third best xG(2.75) amongst midfielders with only Salah and Mane having more, 9 shots on target(Second highest amongst mids), four big chances(fourth highest amongst mids), and nine key passes scoring three goals in the process. His next two fixtures include Newcastle United and Leeds United, two of the worst defences in the league so far this season.

His shot map shows how good the quality of the chances and the shots he has made. Newcastle have conceded the most shots on goal(92), second-most shots on target(33), and the most big chances(17) so far. Steve Bruce’s side hasn’t shown any signs of improvement and this Watford side along with Sarr will look to add to the piling misery at Newcastle. At 6.1 Million Sarr has got the perfect fixtures for a short-term differential move if you’re wildcarding in GW7/8.

Ultra Differential Pick for FPL GW6

Leandro Torssard vs Crystal Palace(A), £6.4 Million TSB ~ 1.0%

FPL GW6 ~ Differential pick ~ Trossard

Leandro Trossard, popularly known as “Bossard” by the FPL community is our ultra differential pick for this week. Brighton have been doing well this season and the final results finally make justice for their expected stats. Trossard is the second-highest Brighton player behind the 4.0 Million legend Duffy. Having not made any attack returns from GW1-3, Bossard has registered a goal and assist over the last two weeks. Completely rested from the midweek carabao fixtures guarantees him to start for the sixth game running.

The positioning of Trossard inside and just around the box is great for us FPL managers. As you could see, Trossard has spent a considerable time inside the box particularly to the left. As a right-footed winger, this allows him to have good chances at goal. This bodes well considering the fact Palace have conceded 40% of their chances through each of the flanks.

Although not earth-shattering numbers we expect Torssard to do well against Crystal Palace this weekend.

Conor Gallagher vs Brighton(H), £5.6 Million TSB: 6.7%

FPL GW6 ~ Differential pick ~ Gallagher

Gallagher is another great option that I have no doubt will be essential in no time. The Chelsea loanee has been very impressive so far this season. PL defences are finding it to keep this pocket-sized dynamo under control.

Gallagher has already registered two goals and two assists so far this season and his numbers are too good for a 5.6 million FPL asset. 10 shots, four on target, five big chances(second amongst midfielders), xG of 2.29, two big chances created, seven key passes with an xA of 1.39 which shows his impact all around.

Still early days but we might have a good palace attacking asset other than Wilfried Zaha. The shot map comparison shows the quality of shots and the chances behind the same. Gallagher has been getting more quality chances and taking better shots so far. He’s on corners and set pieces too and is the perfect differential at least for the next few weeks.

Teemu Pukki vs Everton(A), £5.9 Million TSB: 5.7%

FPL GW6 ~ Differential pick ~ Teemu Pukki
Pukki could be a enabler to accommodate Premiums

Norwich have made a disastrous start to life back in Premier League losing 5 out of these 5 games. However the thing to be noted is Norwich faced 4 out of last season’s top 8 in the first 4 games. In GW5, Norwich faced promoted side Watford and showed glimpses of what they can do in attack despite losing 1-3. Pukki as expected was in the thick of things- 4 shots inside the box, 1 big chance and 1 goal. Everton have the 6th worst non-penalty xGC(4.1) in the league and have conceded 34% of their chances from the center. With better fixtures coming on the way, a certain Pukki Party may have already started!

Key stat:

Pukki has the 2nd best xG(1.81), 3rd most shots inside the box(9), 3rd most big chances(3), 3rd best Expected Goal Involvement(67%) among forwards from GW3- GW5.

Pablo Fornals vs Leeds United(A), £6.0 Million, TSB: 3.4%

FPL GW6 ~ Differential pick ~ Pablo Fornals

West Ham have had a great start to the season in terms of attacking threat with xG-9.9(4th), 27 shots on target(4th), 13 big chances(4th) and 11 goals(3rd). Most of their attacking returns have come from Antonio-39 points(1st among forwards) and Benrahma- 39 points(2nd among midfielders). Fornals has been silently performing well but going under the radar with 2 goals, 1 assist & 25 points averaging 5 points per game. Fornals has more shots inside the box, better xG, better xGI than Benrahma from GW3 and GW4 where Fornals and Benrahma have frequently swapped positions.

Fornals vs Benrahma vs Bowen(GW1- GW4):

  • Shots inside the box- 5 vs 4 vs 5
  • Big chances- 1 vs 2 vs 2
  • Expected Goals- 0.86 vs 1.50 vs 1.49
  • Expected Assists- 1.30 vs 1.30 vs 0.71
  • Big chances created- 2 vs 2 vs 0
  • Successful final third passes- 82 vs 66 vs 30
  • Final Third Entries- 39 vs 17 vs 7

Pro Tip:

Leeds are without their 3 first choice centre backs- Llorente, Koch and Ayling(Doubtful) ahead of FPL GW6. Leeds have conceded 47% of their chances from the middle(2nd highest for chances conceded from centre) and Fornals should enjoy this being given a free role.

Further more, Fornals is getting into a more central role and has more inside the box involvements as seen from the stats above. He has more successful final third passes than Bowen and Benrahma. To add to it, he has double the number of final third entries(39) compared to Benrahma(17).

Adam Armstrong vs Wolves(H), £6.0 Million, TSB: 3.0%

FPL GW6 ~ Differential pick ~ Adam Armstrong

Adam Armstrong has had a good start to life in the premier league in spite of the fact that he joined the Saints pretty late and missed all of pre-season. The forward has registered the second-most shots on goal(16) amongst all forwards which isn’t a surprise as he loves to take a shot on goal and was the highest for shots on goal in the championship last season. He has been following the trend in the PL too. His touch map looks good as well taking some good positions inside the box which are good signs for a striker.

Although Wolves have been good defensively so far this season they were beaten comfortably by Brentford in which Armstrong’s nemesis from last season Toney scoring and assisting a goal. Saints are thriving in confidence having had a great start to the season with a CS against Man city last week. Now with the likes of young talents like Livramento, Armando Broja and Elyounoussi in the ranks Saints will only eye for more and will be hungrier than ever.
