FPL New Signings Overview

FPL New Signings- Grealish

The summer transfer window has come into full flow and we have already witnessed some big ones. Here are some of the FPL New signings you need to watch out for.

Manchester United FPL New Signings:

Raphael Varane ( Real Madrid to Manchester United):

FPL New Signings- Varane
Varane & Maguire should be a strong pair for United

Manchester United are having a great transfer window. After already adding Sancho united have now added another big name to their 2021-22 season squad in the World Cup and several Champions League winner Raphael Varane. We can surely expect some big improvements to United’s defense with Maguire and Varane at the heart of it. Varane in 2020-21 season made 31 appearances keeping cleansheets in 12 of those whereas in 2019-20 he kept 15 cleansheets in 31 appearances.

When compared to the likes of Maguire, Lindelöf and Bailey here’s how Varane ranks in various
defensive stats for the 2020-21 season. 2nd for success rate at tackles per 90 (70%), 2nd for
successful aerial duels per 90 (2.4), 3rd for interceptions per 90 (1.2), least fouls per 90 (0.5),
1st for clearances per 90 level with Maguire (3.6), 2nd for passing accuracy (89.6%).

Jadon Sancho(Dortmund to Manchester United):

Aston Villa FPL New signings :

Emiliano Buendia ( Norwich to Aston Villa):

Buendia’s PL experience will be handy.

Villa have done some excellent piece of business this window with the prospect of Grealish
leaving this season in the form of Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia. Buendia was amazing for Norwich last season in the Championship and coming in with 31 goal contributions (15 goals and 16 assists) helping Norwich get back to the Premier League. He was the 8th highest goal scorer and top for assists. His 15 goals came from just 11.77 xG and he also had a xA of 12.51 for his 16 assists. He made 3.1 key passes and 2.8 shots per game. At 6.5m he can be a good option from Villa’s attack.

Aston Villa FPL New Signings- Leon Bailey (Bayer Leverkusen to Aston Villa )

FPL New Signings- Bailey
Leon Bailey

Leon Bailey played 25 matches (plus 5 as a sub). He had 21 shots on target from a total of 41
shots and scored 9 goals (5.99 xG). Leon Bailey averaged 26 passes per match with a pass
completion rate of 79%, and had 8 assists. He had 1.6 key passes and 1.9 shots per game.

Aston Villa FPL New Signings- Danny Ings (Southampton to Aston Villa)

FPL New Signings- Ings
Danny Ings- The most surprising move

One of the most shocking transfers this season has been Ings to Villa since it came out of
nowhere. Villa has got themselves one of the most clinical strikers in Prem in the last 2 seasons.
Ings has exceeded his actual goals tally to his xG showing that he can score goals from out of
nothing. In 2019-20 Ings scored the second most goals 22 from a xG of just 14.80 whereas in
his limited appearances last season he scored 12 goals from an xG of 9.45. Even though
Watkins is a fairly good striker Ings with the likes of Bailey, Buendia and McGinn supplying can
nail the number 9 spot for himself and be in contention for the golden boot. Another thing to be
put into notice is that Dean Smith would try a 2 striker formation too and Watkins last season
had a xA of 8.22 which would again be a positive for Ings.

Anderson last season was one of the best defenders for Fulham. His eye-catching
performances made Palace go for him. Last season Palace’s best defender was Kouyate and
when in comparison to Anderson, Anderson bettered almost every stat. At 4.5m when Palace
have fixtures change for good he can very well be a good option.

FPL New Signings- Ben White ( Brighton to Arsenal ):

FPL New Signings- Ben White

Ben White has made a big money switch from Brighton to Arsenal for 50 mil. At 4.5m he can be the one to own from GW4 onwards. Arsenal at the end of last season improved massively. They were 4th for xCS (expected cleansheets) , xGC (expected goals conceded), and big chances conceded last season . Ben White is a big addition and has the capability to improve Arsenal’s defense more. White in his first season in premier league had 104 points from 125 expected points and it can certainly improve with Arsenal.

FPL New Signings- Romelu Lukaku ( Inter Milan to Chelsea )

FPL New Signings- Lukaku

Chelsea have agreed a deal to get back Lukaku seven years after leaving in 2014. Lukaku this
time around is coming as a way more clinical and experienced player for a big transfer sum. In
72 appearances for Inter in last 2 seasons Lukaku scored 47 goals. On 3 January 2021, Lukaku
scored a goal in a 6–2 win over Crotone, to reach his 50th goal across all competitions in only
70 matches, breaking the previous record of Ronaldo who scored 50 goals in 77 matches in
Serie A. Inter won the 2020–21 Serie A for the first time since the 2009–10 season. Lukaku
finished the season 2020–21 with 24 league goals, 11 assists. Making him the highest scorer on
the title-winning team and the second highest-scorer in the league, behind Ronaldo. Lukaku’s
24 goals came from just 48 shots on target and a xG of 22.40. He might be a must have when Chelsea’s fixtures turnaround post GW6 and can be a go to captaincy option.

FPL New Signings- Jack Grealish (Aston Villa to Manchester City)

FPL New Signings- Grealish
Grealish

Manchester city has completed the signing of Jack Grealish for a record transfer fee in British transfer history and he will be wearing the No. 10 jersey recently vacated by Aguero. Grealish will add that little bit more to
that already dangerous looking city side with his Creativity and technique. Grealish provided 12
assists from a xA of 9.96
for Villa.

Pep Guardiola words on Jack Grealish are worth noting-

“He can play up front of course, mainly on the left side area but he can play as a winger,
attacking midfielder, striker – many positions with his quality. I have no doubts.”
“He can go to another level with us.”

Grealish in numbers:

Pep would look to use Grealish’s versatility more and that might get him more minutes with KDB and
Foden still being injury doubts. At 8m he is definitely one to watch out this season from City’s attack. A few stats to look from last season are –

FPL New Signings- Cristian Romero (Atlanta to Tottenham Hotspurs):

FPL New Signings- Romero

After the departure of Toby , Spurs have tried to strenghten their defense by signing one of the best defenders last season in the Serie A .  Among all centre-backs in Europe’s top five leagues last season , Romero was in the 99 percentile for pressures, successful pressures, pressures in the middle third and interceptions and in the 98 percentile for pressures in the defensive third, tackles and tackles won.  Highlighting his overall defensive ability, Romero was also in the 95 percentile for ball recoveries, in the 93 percentile for blocks, and in the 91 percentile for aerials won.
