Usually in this time of the year a lot of FPL managers would be contemplating on a potential use of wildcard post GW 4. Well this time around also we’re all doing something similar, only the season is just about to begin. We at AllAboutFPL will bring you the analysis of all teams and the best FPL options from each team. In this blog, we give you the best players to choose from Chelsea and an analysis on their style of play too.
Chelsea FPL Fixtures Upto GW10
Chelsea do have a favorable run in to start the season. All the Chelsea FPL options from the Blues are relatively cheap when compared to other big clubs. So it is a must to have at least two players from Chelsea.
Chelsea Style of Play
Frank Lampard‘s Chelsea play an attacking brand of football. They were the third top scorers (69) last season. However, they largely underperformed in front of the goal. Chelsea’s expected goal tally was 78 which is the same as that of Liverpool and only bettered by Manchester City(99). Not just that, Chelsea had 107 big chances last season, no wonder they hold the unwanted stat of missing the most amount of big chances.
But all these iffy numbers are golden for FPL managers this time around. Chelsea have strengthened in the transfer window. They have brought in world class players who are ruthless in front of goal. Couple that with Frank Lampard’s way of going about it, Chelsea will be among the top scorers in the league. In fact I’d stick my neck out and say they’ll score above 100 goals this season.
This begs a question as to who do we pick in FPL among the plethora of options available? Without further adieu let’s go ahead and take a look at the best options from Chelsea:
Our Top Three Chelsea FPL Assets
#1 Timo Werner – Price 9.5, TSB 44.6%
Timo Werner is arguably the best option from Chelsea. The German international scored 28 goals last season in the Bundesliga and also provided 8 assists for his teammates. Now whilst that may not be a barometer to choose him, the way Frank Lampard uses his forwards certainly gives optimism.
Last season, Tammy Abraham had 32 big chances, a tally bettered only by Jesus, Sterling and Vardy. Now that is despite him missing a fair chunk of the second half of last season. Timo Werner has built up a reputation of being a clinical finisher, he is unlikely to pass up so many opportunities.
Furthermore, given the fact that Jorginho is unlikely to be part of the starting eleven and that Willian has left the club, Werner will most likely take penalties for Chelsea. This is a dream scenario for FPL managers making Werner the number one Chelsea FPL asset.
Werner showed his class in front of the goal in the UEFA Nations League against Spain a few days back. There is a very good chance that the 9.5 million price could rise to 10 very quickly. So make sure you have him from the start.

#2 Hakim Ziyech- Price 8.0, TSB 15.2%
Another Chelsea player who we’ll soon realise that is underpriced is Hakim Ziyech. In the past few seasons in FPL we know that if KDB is fit he will end up with the most number of assists. But this season KDB is likely to given real tough competition by Ziyech.
The winger has scored 31 goals and has assisted 40 goals in the last three seasons in Ajax. His assist tally is more than any other player in that time in the Eredivisie. Whilst there is an argument to be made that the level of opponents in the Dutch league isn’t that great. Fair enough. But the following numbers will prove that Ziyech is no flat-track bully.
Ziyech has scored 8 goals and has registered 10 assists in the last two seasons in Champions League – Europe’s most elite competition. And of course his assist tally is more than any other player including the likes of KDB and Lionel Messi- who sadly isn’t going to be part of FPL this season.
Ziyech did pick up a knock in the friendly against Brighton, however, he should be fit come the opening day of the season.
Watch out for: Last season a lot of Hakim Ziyech ‘s assists were for Ajax’s left-winger Quincy Promes. This season that place is likely to be taken a certain American who is the next player on our list. A couple of years ago we saw Sané to Sterling trend in FPL. This season it may well be a Ziyech to Pulisic theme.

#3 Christian Pulisic- Price 8.5, TSB 4.9%
It’s hard to believe that Captain America only features in third place on this list. However, that is because he is nursing an injury and could miss the first game or two, at the most. But that doesn’t mean FPL managers shouldn’t be planning to bring him in from GW 3.
Pulisic was brilliant for Chelsea every time he stepped on to the pitch last season. Pulisic managed to get 9 goals and 8 assists in FPL last season. That is despite playing only 1717 minutes, which is half the season. Astounding numbers to say the least. He did get 4 goals and 5 assists post-project restart. With better players around him, he’s likely to score more goals in this campaign.
Pro Tip- After GW 2 it would be a wise move to dump Aubameyang and bringing in Pulisic. It opens up your entire team and you could use the 3.5 million elsewhere to find the right balance.
Keep an eye out on Reece James and Kai Havertz
Reece James and Kai Havertz are two players you should keep an eye on. James could be a bargain if two things happen. One, Chelsea become solid defensively. Two, James is picked as RB ahead of Azpilicueta.
Kai Havertz (8.5 Mil) is a player who could play in a variety of positions. Havertz was Bayer Leverkusen’s talisman throughout the 19/20 season. He was their top goalscorer(12 goals & 6 assists) only Volland recorded more assists. If Frank Lampard does put him in as an attacking midfielder, he could become a very good option from an FPL point of view.
