Teams and Players to Target from FPL Gameweek 8

Newcastle United

Starting the article, we will look at Newcastle United as the first team to target. They have very favourable fixtures starting from gameweek 8 with a home game against Bournemouth, followed by these fixtures: Fulham(A), Brentford(H), Manchester United(A) and Everton(H).

Here are the players you can target from Newcastle United:

Kieran Trippier

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Trippier

At 5.2 million, Trippier is a bargain. Currently the second highest scoring defender in the league, we will only see his points tally go up with incoming favourable fixtures. He has scored once in six games this season and kept 3 clean sheets.

He has an xG of 0.28 and an xA of 0.9. He averages around 36 touches in the opposition half and 23 in the final third. He has created 11 chances and 1 big chance this season, which makes it one chance created every 49 minutes.

He is also on free-kicks and corners, adding to his allure as a FPL asset.

Nick Pope

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Nick Pope

The next player to target is Newcastle’s goalkeeper, Nick Pope. Priced at 5.1 million, Pope is the highest-scoring goalkeeper in the league right now. Not only has he kept 3 clean sheets, but because of his high number of saves, averaging around 4.6 saves a game.

With a run of favourable fixtures, Nick Pope is the goalkeeper to have in your team.

Alexander Isak

The last Newcastle player we will be looking at is their blockbuster signing, Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker has had a good start to his life in England, already scoring once in his two appearances.

He has an xG of 1.26 right now and averages around 4.77 touches in the box per 90. He has had 5 attempts on goal in total, with 4 coming from inside the box and 3 being on target. He has also scored 1 of the 3 big chances he has been given.

Standing at 6ft 4 inches, he is also the main target man for Trippier’s corners, making him an even more interesting pick.

Priced at just 7 million, is the new Newcastle striker on your plans from gameweek 8 onwards?

Leicester City

The next team, unlike Newcastle United, has not enjoyed a good start to the season. Currently bottom of the league, Leicester have struggled to put points on the board. But with the fixture swing coming, we could see the Foxes’ fortune change.

They play these teams from gameweek 8 onwards: Tottenham(A), Nottingham Forest(H), Bournemouth(A), Crystal Palace(H) and Leeds United(H).

Here are the players you can target from Leicester City from gameweek 8 onwards:

James Maddison

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Maddison

We will start this section by looking at 7.9 million priced James Maddison. The midfielder has scored 2 times and assisted once this season, and with his ownership being only 2.9%, he can be a great differential if you jump on him early.

Maddison has overperformed his xGi massively, which currently stands at only 1.11. He has averaged around 25 touches in the final third and around 3.2 in the penalty box per 90. He has also had 13 attempts at goal, with six of them coming from inside the box, indicating how far forward he plays for Leicester.

He has also created 9 chances in total for Leicester City, he is also on corners and free-kicks for the Foxes.

Harvey Barnes

Next on the list is Harvey Barnes. Priced at just 6.9 million with an ownership of just 1%, he is another player who can be a great differential moving forward. Barnes has scored 1 goal this season and has an xGi of 0.88.

He has averaged around 25.5 touches in the final third and 3.9 touches in the penalty box per 90. He has had 9 shots, with 7 of them coming from inside the box.

Aston Villa

The next team on your list of teams to target from gameweek 8 onwards is Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa. Like Leicester City, they also have had a very poor start to their season. Currently 17th in the league, Villa now have the chance to change their fortunes with a kind run of fixtures.

From gameweek 8 onwards, they play: Southampton(H), Leeds (A), Nottingham Forest (A), Chelsea (H), and Fulham (A).

Here are the players you can target from Aston Villa:

Ollie Watkins

Starting off the list, we have Aston Villa’s striker Ollie Watkins. The striker has 1 goal and 2 assists this season, and his tally could increase exponentially with Aston Villa’s kind run of fixtures.

He has an xGi of 2.14 and averages around 3.58 touches in the penalty box. He has had 7 goal attempts, all of whom have come from inside the box. He has also scored 50% of the big chances given to him. He has also created 2 chances and 1 big chance this season.

Lucas Digne

Next on our list is Aston Villa’s left-back, Lucas Digne. Digne has an xGi of 0.61 and has averaged 25.8 touches in the final third and 1.8 touches in the penalty box per 90. He has also had 3 shots on goal, all of which came from inside the box.

Priced at 4.7 million with favourable fixtures and low ownership, can Digne finally reward those who put their trust in him?

Leon Bailey

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Bailey

On to the biggest troll of the season. Many had put their faith in Jamaican Wideman, only for him to disappoint all of us. Despite that, with his favourable fixtures coming up, I believe it is time to put faith in him again.

He has scored 1 goal, and 1 assist already. He has an xGi of 0.92 and has averaged 25.5 touches in the final third and 3 touches in the penalty box per 90.

He has taken 6 shots till now, with 5 of them coming from inside the box. With 6% ownership, if he can cement his spot in the team, Bailey can be a force to be reckoned with.

West Ham

The next team on our list also hasn’t had a great start to the season. Currently 18th in the league, West Ham now have favourable fixtures coming up. They play Everton(A), Wolves(H), Fulham(H) and Southampton(A) in their next four games.

Here are some players you can target from West Ham from gameweek 8 onwards:

Lucas Paqueta

While Paqueta has made only 2 appearances this season, he has already proven himself to be a credible threat. He has an xGi of 0.21 while averaging around 9.5 touches in the final third and around 1 touch in the penalty box per 90.

If he can cement his spot in the team, Paqueta can be a great player to have in your squad, with his price tag of only 6 million and ownership of less than 1%.

Jarrod Bowen

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Bowen

The next player on our list is last year’s star, Jarrod Bowen. Yet to register a goal or an assist this season, Bowen can shine in his favourable fixtures.

He has an xG of 1.24 while averaging around 20 touches in the final third and 4.4 touches in the penalty box per 90. He has also had 11 shots, with 7 of those attempts coming from inside the box. He has also created 4 chances.

Bowen has also taken corners for West Ham this season, only increasing his allure as an asset.

Emerson

The last West Ham player to be targeted for gameweek 8 is 4 million priced, Emerson. He has averaged 22.6 touches in the opposition half and 12.6 touches in the final third per 90. He has also averaged 1.3 touches in the penalty box per 90.

At his low price, can Emerson be an important asset from Gameweek 8 onwards?

Fulham

Fulham is the next team on this list of teams and players to target for gameweek 8 onwards. Currently overperforming expectations, Fulham are tenth in the league. They play Forest(A), Newcastle(H), West Ham(A) and Bournemouth(H).

Here are the players you can target from the London outfit:

Aleksandar Mitrović

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Mitrovic

The first Fulham player on our list is one of the most popular striker choices of this season, Aleksandar Mitrovic. He has scored 6 goals this season and doesn’t look like he will stop anytime soon.

He currently has an xGi of 4.60, with an average of 6 touches in the penalty box per 90. He has had a mammoth 27 shots this season(most in the league), with 22 of them coming from inside the box(2nd most only behind Haaland). He is also the main man for the Fulham team, with him getting 8 big chances this season.

He has also created 6 chances and 1 big chance for the team. He is also the main penalty taker for Fulham.

Andreas Pereira

The second player on our list is also a very popular pick. Priced modestly at 4.6 million, he currently has xGi of 0.89. He currently averages around 18.7 touches in the final third and 1.3 touches in the penalty box.

However, out of the seven shots he has taken at goal this season, only one has come from inside the box. However, he has also created 11 chances and 1 big chance this season. He is also on corner duty for Fulham.

Bernd Leno

Priced at 4.5 million, Leno has conceded 7 goals in four games while making 19 saves. Could we see the German keep a few clean sheets with favourable fixtures coming up?

Tottenham

The next team on our list has a mixed set of fixtures coming up, hence while we don’t suggest you to triple up on them, you could potentially get two players from Spurs into your team. Their next fixtures are Leicester(H), Arsenal(A), Brighton(A), and Everton(H).

Here are the players you can target from Spurs:

Harry Kane

FPL Players and Teams to target from Gameweek 8- Harry Kane

The first player on the list is 11.4 million priced, with an ownership of 17%, Harry Kane. He currently has an xGi of 4.95 and averages around 17.9 touches in the final third and 4.75 touches in the penalty box.

He has taken 22 shots this season, with 16 of them coming from inside the box. He has also scored 4 big chances this season, missing only two. He has created 16 chances and 3 big chances this season. He is also on penalties for the Spurs.

Ivan Perišić

The next player on the list is a 5.6 million-priced Ivan Perisic. He currently has an xGi of 1.08 while averaging 23.6 touches in the final third.

He also has 4.8 touches in the penalty box per 90. He has also created 8 chances and 2 big chances this season. He is also on corner duty for Spurs, and with Harry Kane’s aerial presence, we could see Perisic rack up more assists in the upcoming gameweeks.

Crystal Palace

Currently 15th in the league, Palace have good fixtures till the World Cup. While the games till gameweek 10 are decent, from then on onwards, Palace has only green fixtures.

The next few fixtures for them are Chelsea(H), Leeds United(H), Leicester City(A), Wolves(H), and Everton(A). Here are the players you can target from Crystal Palace:

Wilfred Zaha

The first player on the list is the man in form, Wilfred Zaha. He currently has 4 goals this season with an xGi of 3.38.

He averages around 23.7 touches in the final third and 7.3 touches in the penalty box. He has taken 15 shots, with 12 shots from inside the box. He has also scored 2 of the 5 big chances given to him. He has also created 7 chances and 1 big chance this season.

Joachim Andersen

The last player in the article we are looking at is Joachim Andersen. He has scored 1 goal this season and has an xGi of 0.54.

He also has 3.6 touches on average in the final third and 1.1 in the penalty box. He has also created 4 chances and 1 big chance this season.

With a price of only 4.5 million and ownership of 2.4%, Andersen could be an option worth exploring.

This is all from us today. Who out of these players will you be looking to sign from Gameweek 8 onwards?
