Physio’s Column: All Things FPL GW32+ | ALLABOUTFPL

Raul Jimenez

After more than one hundred days without FPL, the game returned with a bang, two-game weeks within eight days, and triple-digit scores aplenty in the FPL community. Attentions now turn to FPL GW32+ and the challenges that the return of FA Cup brings. Eight teams will play their quarter-final have the FPL deadline giving fantasy managers a nervous weekend.

Lessons Learnt ~ FPL GW30+ & FPL GW31+

The top four race is gold for FPL managers:

Chelsea, Wolves and Manchester United have started the ‘season’ in fine form and have the faltering Leicester City firmly in their sights. This is welcome news for FPL managers with all teams having favourable fixtures for the next few gameweeks.

These three teams provide us with consistent and affordable assets, no player is priced higher than £9.0 million, to build our teams around. At the back a Wolves defender is a must right now, it’s six clean sheets in seven since Boly (£4.8) returned from injury. Manchester United have also continued their defensive resurgence, Maguire (£5.3) & Wan-Bissaka (£5.3) have looked threatening in the opposition box as well since the restart.

It’s two wins from two for Wolves

There is a plethora of attacking options at Old Trafford. Pairing the game-changing Fernandes (£8.7) with one of Rashford (£9.0) & Martial (£8.1) looks a great bet. At Chelsea, Pulisic (£6.9) is slightly cheaper and has flown out the blocks with two goals in two gameweeks. It would be criminal not to mention Jiménez (£8.3), Mr Consistent, who has return back to back nine point hauls.

These three teams, Man United and Wolves especially, should form the core of your side right now.

The teams at the bottom are still rubbish:

Any hope that teams like Norwich, Bournemouth, and Watford could provide FPL managers with some cut-price highly motivated assets look to be false. None of the bottom five have won a game since the League’s restart. At this stage, it looks better to give your budget spots to teams like Southampton, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle who have looked decent and registered a win.

It’s fair to say my attempt at restarting the Pukki Party backfired!

Liverpool rotation:

Chelsea played the role of kingmakers yet again with their win against Manchester City on Thursday. The implications of this could be big in FPL. The like of Harvey Elliot, Neco Williams, and Curtis Jones will all be pushing for Premier League minutes as Klopp looks to the future. This puts doubts over TAA and the attacking players. Personally, I think that what we saw against Palace, TAA coming off on 70 minutes, will be the new norm. Mane and Salah are both going for the golden boot, try telling either of them they are benched against Aston Villa for example! I can see one or two benchings at most. This week against Man City I would predict a full-strength team, no doubt.

All things FPL GW32+

A gameweek that starts with a normal enough 11:30 AM (UK time) deadline soon descends into the opposite of normal. As previously mentioned, eight teams play their FA Cup game before their GW32+ match.

As FPL managers we can prepare ourselves for any injuries by having a solid first sub, I’m sure many will. For those looking to be extra safe captaining a player like Jiménez who plays Aston Villa in the deadline game looks the sensible move. Although, there is a good chance popular players like Fernandes will be rested in the FA Cup or at least have their minutes managed having played close to 180 minutes in the League since it’s restart.

Looking at this week’s fixtures Arsenal’s hosting of Norwich looks the standout on paper along with Chelsea’s trip the Hammers and Wolves’ visit to Villa Park. It’s hard to know what to expect from Man City and Liverpool’s matchup, I think it’s a case of don’t buy don’t sell any assets from is game.

Captain choices for FPL GW32+

1. Aubameyang (£10.9) ~ Norwich (H)

2. Jiménez (£8.3) ~ Aston Villa (A)

3. Fernandes (£8.7) ~ Brighton (A)

Differentials for FPL GW32+

1. Nketiah (£4.4) ~ 2% TSB ~ Norwich (H)

2. Willian (£7.0) ~ 4% TSB ~ West Ham (A)

3. Alonso (£6.2) ~ 4% TSB ~ West Ham (A)

My team for FPL GW32+

It’s been an okay start for my team with 104 and 73 (-4) points in GW30+ and GW31+ respectively. It was always going to be difficult with no bench boost/wildcard. I’ve moved from 104K to 94K… my top 50K goal is still well within reach.

Looking ahead, I’m planning a move to 3-5-2 in time for FPL GW33. In this spirit, Eddie Nketiah (£4.4) is coming in for Pukki this week and will start meaning a double up on Arsenal for Norwich.

I’m considering a hit to remove Sarr for Pulisic… the Watford man has played 180 minutes in the two games back and could be benched against Southampton. I’ll be mulling that one over until the deadline no doubt.

Aubameyang is the captain. No doubts there.

That’s it’s for this week, I hope you enjoyed my ramblings and FPL GW32+ is kind to you. Good luck! Do drop me a follow on Twitter @fpl_physio and continue the discussion over there.
