Hi, It’s @FPLTrueman here and I’ll be sharing my recommendations for your FPL BGW29 teams. I’ll also be going through my Free Hit team selection, as I hope to make up for the disaster 32pts (-4) in BGW18. No prizes for guessing my captain was Raheem Sterling, who missed a penalty in 8 Minutes of game time, leaving me with a Gameweek rank of 3.3 million.

Many managers will look at this week with four fixtures and feel the Free Hit may not be worth using, due to the lack of player choices. I however always look at the Free Hit chip over a 5 week period minimum.

“5 Weeks?.. What you talking about Trueman!?”

Yes I said it! 5 weeks minimum, due to the planning that goes into your team at least 2/3 Gameweeks prior and then there’s the rebuild after the blank Gameweek, unless you have a Wildcard available. Due to this I feel a planned Free Hit is a great way to gain momentum prior to it, during it and after it.

I guess anything other than a juicy green arrow, would be considered a failure after that explanation. We’ll just have to let the Gameweek pan out, but first here’s my FPL GW29 Free Hit Selection & my “Top Picks” for FPL GW29.

FPL BGW29 Free Hit Selection & my “Top Picks” for FPL GW29

FPL BGW29 Freehit team reveal by Trueman

FPL BGW29 Goalkeeper:

Sanchez vs NEW

Since the Gameweek 17 draw with Wolves, which to paint a better picture was an erratic 3-3 melee, Brighton have tightened up at the back. In the 11 weeks that have followed (GW18-28) Brighton have kept 5 clean sheets, with Sanchez gaining bonus points on 4 occasions. That’s 1 clean sheet every 2 matches. I should add those 11 games included MCI, TOT, LIV, LEI and Bielsa’s free scoring LEE. Their opponents Newcastle have missed their Talisman Callum Wilson scoring only 3 goals over the past 5 matches.

Fulhams Areola was my second choice, with the possibility of a haul if he can keep all those Leeds shots at bay. If I had him already, I wouldn’t change him.

Defenders for FPL BGW29 Free Hit team

Dunk vs NEW (TOP PICK)

Brighton’s defensive record explained above is enough reason to get this man mountain of a footballer in for GW29, but there’s more. Lewis Dunk is the Seagulls top scoring player in FPL the season. He’s alway been an aerial threat, however he seems to be thriving in Potters ball playing set up.

Over the last 10 Matches Dunk has Scored 58 FPL points. To put that in perspective over the same period Luke Shaw scored 62pts and Ruben Dias 44.

Dunk is also 3rd for Threat on the official sites ICT Index, only behind Maguire and Dallas. He came up with a vital goal to end a run of 3 tight losses and the word on the grapevine is he’s due to get some VAR justice for the recent free-kick that was disallowed.

Dallas vs FUL

You just can’t go wrong with owning this guy longterm, but I cannot imagine anyone who hasn’t owned him this season leaving him out this week either. Whether he’s playing at LB/RB/CM he’s always involved. Dallas has surely proven he’s this season’s John Lundstram, with 3 double digit returns so far. Only Aaron Creswell has more (4). Dallas Could well get 1 point this week, but his ceiling floats around 12-15pts. Something else to take into account is regardless of the score Dallas is part of a set up that attacks until the 90th minute. This has resulted in a few consolation goals for him, which is more than a collation for FPL Managers at his price.

Reguilón vs AVL

With the news of Son been ruled out, although we’ve been played before, It opened up a 3rd Spurs Spot. I like this pick, as I feel insured by Reguilón’s attacking attributes. If I’m honest I don’t believe Spurs will keep a CS, but they are capable. If Son is really missing GW29 Reguilón will be pivotal to Spurs attack down the left, either facing the has been El Mohamady or the fresh from injury Matty Cash.

Bale vs AVL (TOP PICK)

It was a long, long time ago when Gareth Bale last played Aston Villa, Scoring a Hatrick! Villa have been really poor with out Grealish, with Martinez saving their skin many times along with the points of FPL Managers. Bale on the other hand has been instrumental to the Spurs revival the past 5 weeks, although he hasn’t past the 69 minute mark before getting subbed.

In the last 5 games playing 45mins+ in each, Bales has scored a very impressive 40pts, with 2 assists and 4 goals. It will be a question of how well Matty Target handles him or even how well he gets forward, as we’ve seen Bale’s defensively inept. For the Spurs coaches this will be a headache, but if for Bale can make up for it and expose the space for his FPL owners, it could be another haul.

If you have a superstitious bone in your body, you’d of already noticed the brace, blank, brace pattern emerging. Brace it is!

Raphinha vs FUL (TOP PICK)

This fella is one of my favourite players to watch in the Premier League. He’s actually a Brazilian, that plays football like a Brazilian. He was unlucky not to scored vs my beloved Chelsea, due to a fine palm from Mendy. I’ve not seen any player trouble “TUCHELS BLUE WALL” more than Raphina and we’ve played Athletico Madrid.

His FPL returns the last 3 weeks certainly do not justify his performances, but that would be more so due to his team mates not finishing the chances he created. To get a good illustration of a players created amongst others, I like to check out @TedTalksFPL

Lingard vs ARS (TOP PICK)

I jus couldn’t resist J LINGZ! He has hit the ground running since moving to the Hammers and looks like a true leader too. He’s played in 6 games for the Hammers and returned FPL points in 5 of those. He’s the only GW29 player that comes close to Bale 8.0PPM on the form charts with 5.2PPM since GW22.

Scoring 4 and assisting 2 in his 1st 6 appearances for West Ham, he’ll be itching to get on the score sheet again after having to miss the MUN match due to them being his parent club. Jesse however, has shown he’s up for the big games, scoring in GW25 vs TOT and assisting Antonio in the GW26 MCI fixture.

Aubameyang vs WHU

I think if you have a few template players for the BGW then it’s only right you use your Free Hit Chip to gain those differential points too. Arteta has confirmed the disciplinary has been resolved and is behind them, so along with many Gunners I’d expect Arsenals skipper to start again.

The last 2 times Auba has played against a team that wasn’t MCI in the league, He’s scored a Hatrick vs Leeds (GW19) and arguably could of had more than 1 goal vs Burnley (GW24). The last time he played 60+ minutes before then was when he scored a Brace vs Newcastle (GW27). With his recent game time spread out you can only take signs from when he’s played minutes. The last time these to met at the Olympic Stadium Aubameyang scored and assisted in a 3-1 Victory to Arsenal.

Strikers for FPL BGW29 Free Hit team

Kane vs AVL (TOP PICK)

FPL BGW29 Freehit top picks

There’s no where else to look for a captaincy  option this week in my opinion. Harry Kane has been involved in 29 goals in the Premier League this season and it’s far from over. We could direct stat after stats to show how truly amazing of an FPL assets he’s been this season, but it’s clear fro everyone to see at 7.1 points a game so far, you’d be crazy or extremely brave to not have Kane IN GW29.

Andrew Gower paints the picture of Kane’s current achievements perfectly.

Lacazette vs WHU

FPL BGW29 Freehit top picks

Laca is a bit of a Luxury punt. The thing you should remember when you’re on a Free Hit is that many of your opponents won’t be fielding 11 this week. This does give you a bit more leeway to take a punt on someone who’s 60/40 to start. Laca has scored the last 2 times he faced the Hammers. He started one and was subbed on for the other. Lacazette scored the winning penalty in the North London Derby, hopefully that’s enough fo him to start again.

Maupay vs NEW (TOP PICK)

FPL BGW29 Freehit top picks

This fixture is not usually one I’d sit and watch due to it’s history of bore draws, with 3 stalemates in the last 6 meetings. This season however, things may have changed with Potters approach of playing football that breed chances.

In the reverse fixture in GW2 Neil Maupay scored 2 goals and got an assist, amassing a 16 point haul. Throughout the rest of the season Maupay has only managed to score 5 more times which doesn’t bode well. He’s played in a 2 with Welbeck recently with the likes of Trossard, Lallana and Gross creating the chances. Against this depleted Newcastle side Maupay is a GW favourite for me. If Gross isn’t on the pitch he may also be taking the penalties.

Good Luck to you all and may your arrows been green!
